Chapter Four

By dinnertime the very next day, it appeared to Harry that Draco had stepped up his efforts to kill him. He had almost been knocked off the staircase by Draco first thing in the morning, had been hexed with a rather nasty spell they were practicing in DADA, had been set on fire while down by Hagrid’s bonfire, and had received papercuts several times by flying bits of paper that Draco had sent flying at him.

-XxX-

Draco was near the boiling point. He was so frustrated at his inability to have what he wanted – Harry –that he had somehow managed to physically damage the very thing he sought. True, he shouldn’t have knocked so hard into Harry on the staircase, but how could he deny himself a little physical touch from his obsession? And maybe he shouldn’t of been thinking about Harry when practicing that spell in DADA against his partner, Pansy, but it was so hard not to think of Harry when he was so close, and he just couldn’t keep his mind off the other boy, even long enough to direct a spell. As for setting him on fire accidentally, well…that was just a cry for attention. Unfortunately Harry got all the attention, because he was the one on fire.

Finally on the topic of the papercut incidences, every single one of those torn up papers had been letters admitting his love for the brunette Gryffindor god. He knew none of them were just right, though still, he wanted Harry to receive them. So whether the letter was whole and readable, or in tiny pieces and whizzing past Harry fast enough to cut him, at least Harry got the letter.

-XxX-

Hermione was dying to slam the head of the two boys together and leave them to hopefully see what was right in front of their eyes. No, not Harry and Ron. Harry and his obsession – Draco Malfoy. Being the expert she was in all matters, Hermione knew barely concealed love when she saw it. And both boys were hopelessly head-over-heels for each other.

Secretly, she blamed Ron for their situation now. If that redheaded asshole hadn’t of said anything against Draco when they had only first met, Harry and Draco might be happily snogging right now. And maybe they would have let Hermione watch.

But certainly she would never admit that was the main reason she was cross with Ron. Especially since the stupid boy was her boyfriend now. She would also never admit to Ginny (or Ron for that matter) that she was acting against her wishes and practically helping Harry into the hands of his arch enemy and away from the Weasley girl. Ron would kill her if he knew.

Deciding that she didn’t care about that wasn’t hard. She would help Harry and Draco get together. And if her reasons to do so were entirely selfish, who was to know?
