Chapter 4: The bathroom

Before either of them could make their way to the great hall, Professor McGonagall had summoned them to her office.
“As you well know by now, you have both been appointed the positions of Head boy and girl.” They nodded curtly. “After the feast, you are to report the front of the hall as Dumbledore wishes to speak with you. Understood?”
“Yes professor.” They replied in unison.
“Good. Off with you now. You’ve already missed the sorting.”
As they left her office and briskly walked to the great hall, Hermione could feel Malfoy slide side glances at her. Approaching the large wood doors to the hall they paused.
“Here we go.” She whispered to herself, taking a deep breath.
“Oh don’t be so dramatic Granger.” Malfoy said, tapping her rear. Giving him a look of pure loathing, they opened the doors to the great hall. Dumbledore had just finished his speech and food was appearing on the large golden plates on the tables. Hermione rushed down the aisle and found Harry and Ron near the front of the hall. Plopping down next to Ginny she looked at the food in awe.
“The house elves out do themselves every year.” she said. “McGonagall wanted a meeting with the Heads.” She replied to Harry’s quizzical expression. “How did the sorting go?”
“Well.” Ron said with his mouth full. “ninf newf firstf yearf.” He swallowed. “You should have seen their faces, Hermione. They were scared shitless! Didn’t want to be put in Slytherin I expect.”
Hermione started piling food on her plate. She was famished.
“Like you weren’t Ronald?” She said with a giggle. Smiling, she suddenly felt eyes on her. Looking up, she saw Malfoy’s cold gray eyes watching her. He sent an imaginary kiss in her direction. Horrified, she looked to see if Harry or Ron had seen. Thankfully, they hadn’t noticed his bit of harassment. When she looked back over, he was coldly laughing at her. Making a face, she turned her attention to Ginny. They began discussing this years classes and how she was entering her OWLs year.
After the feast was over, with their bellies full and the platters clean, Dumbledore stood up to gain everyone’s attention. “Now it is time for to go to your house dormitories. But before you go, I’d like to announce your new Head boy and girl. This year, the positions belong to Slytherin’s Draco Malfoy and Gryffindor’s Hermione Granger.” There was a great applause from the hall. “Prefects? Will you please lead your house to their rooms now? And I’d like to see the two Heads in the front.” Loud scrapes and grumbles could be heard from the benches and hoards of students racing to exit out of the hall.
“See you back in the common room then.” Said Harry.
“Oh! Well, you see, I have my own room to go to. The Head girl and boy share a common room.”
“What! You have to share a room with that blockhead?!” Harry yelled.
“Ohh, I feel sorry for you Hermione.” Said Ginny eyebrows raised.
“Well we aren’t in the same room exactly. We have our separate bed rooms with their own passwords, but we share the living area and bathroom.” People were pushing them to get by.
“Good luck. We’ll see you at breakfast then.” Said Ginny and they hurried of to catch up the rest of the house.
Feeling slightly disappointed that she would not be going with them, she turned around to fight her way to the front. Malfoy had already reached Dumbledore. Now that she was there Dumbledore looked down at them through his half-mooned glasses.
“First off I’d like to congratulate the two of you for your hard work and persistence. Without either, you would not have made it as Head boy and girl. Secondly, here are your class schedules. The Heads always have the same classes. You are expected to sit in the front of each class side by side. Along with your responsibilities for all of the houses, you also have the privilege of having your own rooms and access to many of the passage ways . However, you will be expected to share a common room along with a bathroom. The bathroom connects the Head boy and girl rooms together. You do not need to fret, Miss Granger,” seeing the expression on her face “you each have your own passwords that you may assign for your various entrances. Now, I know that you are not particularly fond of each other” giving them each a stern look “but you are both the top of your class and are expected to set a good example for your peers.” He started walking out of the great hall gesturing for them to follow. They walked up the large stone staircases, barely noticing how some moved to different places. “Your rooms are the most central living quarters in the castle. To the left you have Hufflepuff and Slytherin, to your right Ravenclaw and Gryffindor.” He said gesturing with his hands. “You have the passwords to each of the houses and may enter them at any time.” Stopping in front of a small painting of a squat looking wizard in bright yellow robes, Dumbledore said “Priori” just loud enough for them to hear. “To be based on reasoning and not on immediate observation is what it means. Something that I have found to be very useful in judgments of character. I trust that you can find your rooms? If there are no questions then I will say goodnight to you both.” Looking at them briefly he nodded and glided out of the room.
They stared at the large circular room. Silver, black, and green had been tastefully intermixed with red and gold. Five elongated windows starting from the floor and reaching to the ceiling lined the curved wall directly in front of the entrance. The two center windows were large doors with brass doorknobs that lead out to a long balcony. Long gauzy gold drapes hung elegantly down the sides of the far windows, held back by black hooks that were attached to the wall. A large table with two chairs sat in the center of the room on top of a silver and black rug. The wood floor was a deep brown, stained to perfection. Not a single mar could be found on the smooth glasslike surface. Smaller rugs were placed in strategic positions around the room. Mainly settling next to chairs and sofas. Fluffy red arm chairs were placed diagonally in front of a huge hearth which contained a crackling orange fire. A large black sofa with red throw pillows separated them attractively, sitting directly in front of the blazing fire. Above the fireplace on the mantel, were astoundingly large portraits of them. The moving portrait of Hermione was wearing a frown with her arms crossed. She clearly let out and audible “hmpf” and turned her back away from the portrait of Draco. His picture smirked and went about his business. Hermione immediately glared at Malfoy. Even her portrait was mad.
Huffing, she went off to the right where she saw a doorway with a placard of Gryffindor on the front. Mumbling “marbles” she opened her door and stepped inside. She new perfectly well that Malfoy would not know what a marble was, being such a muggle hater and never have taken a muggle studies class.
Astounded, Hermione looked around her room in admiration. There was a king sized bed against the far wall. It had a red comforter and about twenty different colored gold and red pillows. The covers had been pulled back revealing soft golden sheets. Next to her bed was a small mahogany night stand. She walked over curiously opening the small drawer of the night stand. Inside, her diary and favorite book were placed neatly side by side. There was a large window seat that looked over the lake and the forbidden forest. Gold and red transparent drapes framed the large window, restrained in the same fashion as in the common room. Crookshanks, her large ginger colored cat lay curled up on the out looking bench. On an adjacent wall was a large desk made of the same wood. Her trunk had been opened and placed next to it. All of her clothes had been color coded and placed in a matching armoire and dresser. There was a full length oval mirror that stood next to a beautiful vanity that had a mirror of its own. There was a large wooden door next to the dresser. She walked over and turned the brass knob. Poking her head in she observed a large white bathroom. Opening the door all the way she walked into the room.
“Amazing” she said. Everything was white with little details of gold. All the faucets and handles were a shiny gold. Huge mirrors lined the wall above two porcelain sinks. Under the sinks were four small drawers each with its own gold knob. Behind the wall that held up the two sinks was a small toilet room. A door opened directly across from hers. Draco walked out and observed the pristine bathroom. Small steps lead up to a huge bath tub with multiple golden handles was settled in a corner. Next to it was one stalled shower. “There’s only one shower.” She said more to herself than to Draco.
“Well then you better not stay in there forever then.” He retorted.
“I wasn’t talking to you, you dolt.”
“Then who on Earth were you talking to? I’m the only other one here.”
“I was talking to myself.” Moving to the drawers, she pulled the first one open. Her hair brush and makeup case sat in a neatly lined enclosure. In the second sat her toothbrush, tooth paste, floss, and face wash. How thoughtful the elves are, she thought. The third contained a black comb, small razor, and bottle of shaving crème. The fourth had a second set of washing items. Two drawers each, she noted. Her various body and facial lotions also had been placed neatly in a gold tray on the counter top adding various colors to the bathroom. Towel racks were blotted into the walls above the sink and next to the bath tub. Each was holding two sets of towels; one gold and one black. His and hers towels. This bathroom is very gender segregated she thought.

Draco watched her as she quietly observed the bathroom. What was she thinking about? Her face was so peaceful, he thought. Looking around, he noted that there was a third door directly behind him leading to the common room. The bath tub had no curtain around it. He smirked.
“Do you take baths Granger?” She turned to him with a surprised look on her face. Glancing toward the tub she looked back at him. Her face changed from surprise to a suspicious stare.
“Why?”
“Oh, I was just wondering.”
“I usually take showers. It wastes less water. However, I do take baths on occasion depending on my mood.”
“Either way the water’s being used.” He said. She didn’t respond. Standing up straighter, he watched her walk back into her room shutting the door with a defiant click. “God she’s such a prudish little bitch.” He mumbled as he turned to enter his dark room. Unlike Herimione’s which was full of bright colors, Draco’s contained mostly dark greens and blacks. He had all the same furniture except his bed was black with massive amounts of green and silver pillows. It was also carefully pulled pack to show smooth sliver sheets. In stead of a vanity he had a large green arm chair with a silver embroidery of a serpent on the backing.
Feeling beat, Draco undressed and wrapped a large black towel around his waist. Despite the size of the towel, it was still small compared against his great height. He head for back toward the bathroom. A nice steamy shower sounded perfect. Having Granger in there with him would make it even more ideal, he thought feeling a slight tug at his groin. Damn the witch he thought walking into the bathroom only to meet Hermione there for a second time only this time with her only in a light gold towel. That’s all he need. He had a full on erection before he could even blink. She gripped her towel around her chest tighter stopping right in front of him.
“Umm…” she said looking away.
“Shower time?” he questioned.
“Well obviously.”
“You know,” walking over to the stall he opened the door and turned on the water to let it warm. “If you’re so concerned with wasting water we could…”
“Shove off Malfoy.”
“Alright, alright, ladies first.” he said with a small nod and a smirk. Turning around he left her to her shower.
God fucking damn. He was hard as a rock and no doubt that she had seen it. This was not going to work. Pacing around his room thinking to himself. He needed to bed her, and bed her fast. Then he could get on with his life. What was he thinking? She’s a filthy fuckin’ mudblood. He shouldn’t even touch her with a ten foot pole. Heh heh heh he thought. I’ll touch her with my ten foot pole. Stop it. Get a grip Malfoy. The water had gone off. He went back into the bathroom. It was full of steam smelling of shampoo and body wash. She was still in the stall.
“Ehem. Are you done yet?”
“Just about. Hold on a second.”
“And what is that I’m holding on to?”
“Don’t be a jackass Malfoy.” He leaned against the moist wall of the stall. Crossing one leg over the other and arms over his bare chest he waited. When she opened the door she yelped.
“Little jumpy Granger?” God she was gorgeous. Her hair was dripping down her back in small waves and curling at the ends. As she stepped out he rolled into the stall turning the water back on. He could here her brushing her teeth. Calm down buddy, he told him self over and over. Even the sound of her brushing excited him. A new sweet smell wafted over to him. She must be putting on lotion he thought turning off the water. He towel dried his hair sending in every direction then wrapped the towel back around his waist not bothering to dry off.
As he stepped out of the shower her leg was up on the counter. She was smoothing a pastel green lotion over the soft skin of her thigh. Sucking in his breath, he walked over to his sink wrenching open one of the drawers looking for his tooth brush. Her hair was pulled back into a long French braid. Rubbing and rubbing. Squirting. Rubbing. Vigorously he brushed his teeth, spat, rinsed and stalked out. He couldn’t take it anymore.
“Goodnight” he said before he closed his door.
“Goodnight” he heard her say softly as he shut the door with a snap.

Good God the boy was hot. She had thought about him all through out her shower. She hadn’t expected him to be standing so close when she walked out. He had given her a great fright. The look of his bare chest littered with tiny droplets of water sent her into a sensual frenzy. She needed to get a hold of herself before she did something foolish.
Finishing in the bathroom she walked back into her bedroom. Putting on an old t-shirt and boxers she crawled into bed. It was so large that she looked like a child laying there by herself. She was very anxious for classes the next day. I must get so sleep so I can get started on my homework she thought. Staring up at the sparkling golden canopy with thoughts of a platinum haired person in her head she slowly drifted off to sleep.
Waking up with the sun on her face, she groggily dragged her self out of bed grabbing her wand from the desk as she shuffled into the bathroom. Right after her came Malfoy in the same disoriented state. He wore basketball type shorts with his boxers peaking out. Shirtless again, she thought through her foggy head. His hair was standing up on end and he had stubble all over his face, giving him the homeless drunkard look. Brushing her teeth, she leaned heavily on the counter. Malfoy had gone to sit on the steps while he brushed with his eyes closed.
“Its too fuckin’ early” he mumbled as he rinsed.
“Tell me about it.” She replied as she soaped up her face. Rinsing, she felt much more energized as the cold water splashed on her face. Malfoy had done the same. What a girl she thought. Pulling the tie out of her hair she let her braid out. It was still slightly damp from the night before. A strong fragrance of shampoo permeated the air. Putting her wand to her head she mumbled “Perfetio” and her hair straightened. Giving herself a look, she put her wand back to her hair and said “Curpilito” and small curls sprung up. Satisfied, she pulled out her make up bag while Malfoy grumpily shaved. Applying a light shadow with a dark line of eyeliner to her top and bottom lids she blinked at herself. Taking out a pink tube, she put on the blackest black of mascara. Glossing her lips, she stuck the pouch back in the drawer and turned to leave.
Back in her room she prepared her backpack. Filling it with all the books that she could carry. She had double potions this morning. It was her least favorite subject aside from divination. Donning her robes and pack, she gave herself on last look in the mirror. Presentable she thought as she headed out the door for breakfast. At the same time she saw Malfoy come out of his room casually. He had his black messenger bag slung over his chest as he closed his bedroom door. Looking at her he gave her a wink and they walked silently out of their room to breakfast.
