Chapter IV
The next night Harry found Harvey sitting on their usual place sobbing heavily.
“Hey, what’s wrong, what happened?”
Harvey turned in his direction and grabbed Harry in a tight embrace crying violently on his shoulder.
“I can’t do this anymore, I really tried, but I can’t figure out how it’s working and now my mother got punished and I will be the next if I can’t show any progress and….”
Another fit of heavy sobs stopped his talking and he tightened the already hard grip he had on Harry.
“Please help me I don’t know what I’m supposed to do; I can’t kill anyone but either him or my mother and me. Please help me, please!”
Harry sat in shock in a total loss of words. He ran his hand over Harvey’s hair in a soothing manner trying to calm his desperate friend. “Shhh, I’m here… I’m here.”
He didn’t know how long they sat there. Harry rocking the crying boy in his arms until Harvey calmed down enough to wriggle out of their embrace.
“I´m sorry. I shouldn’t have said anything. It’s not your battle. I had a rough day and I guess it was a kind of nervous breakdown. Please forget about it. Will you?”
“You have to be kidding!” Harry cried outraged. “You scare the shit out of me and now I `m supposed to forget anything you’ve said? I don’t think so. Harvey, whatever it is, you shouldn’t do it alone. If you can’t talk to me about it you have to talk to someone. You said you have to kill someone. You can’t believe I simply forget about such a thing. Go to Dumbledore, I know you don’t like him, but he is a good man. Whatever it is you are supposed to be doing, he can help you out. Or if not him then go to your Head of House. They are all capable people, even Snape, although I loath that man. You need help and if you don’t want me to know about this thing, please go to one of the teachers! You are just a boy; you can’t carry such a burden alone.”
Harry winced inside during saying the last sentences. But his situation was different. He wasn’t entirely alone, was he? He had the Order of the Phoenix; he had his friends he could talk to. But Harvey as it seems was totally alone in this… whatever it was.
“I know what it’s like to feel completely alone, but you don’t have to be. There are people who can help you, believe me, there are. And whatever you choose I will be here for you too. Whenever you need me, believe me, please believe me.”
He reached out again to touch Harvey’s shoulder but got hold of soft bare flesh instead. When he felt a hand closing upon his he realized he actually had cupped the cheek of the other boy. He couldn’t withdraw his hand and he really didn’t want to. It just felt too right. And as he felt a pair of lips pressing an oh so soft kiss in his palm he felt himself leaning closer to the other body until finally he brushed his own lips tentatively over the mouth of Harvey.
The response came fast and without reserve. Harvey took over Harry’s hesitating efforts and soon dominated the kiss. Harry felt like heaven. The other boy licked and nibbled Harry’s lips and used a gasp to plunder his mouth with his tongue. The kiss soon became needy and deepened and both boys used their hands to touch and explore the other one’s body. Harry let his hands sink into Harvey’s hair just like his opposite had done minutes before. He felt the other boy’s hands roam lower until they slit under the hem of his shirt and suddenly he felt Harvey’s hands on his bare chest. Moaning he tightened his grip on Harvey’s hair and pulled him even closer into the kiss.
“Oh, Harry!”
He froze.
As realisation settled in his spinning mind he stumbled back in shock.
“You… you know who I am! How do you know? Why do you know! Why didn’t you tell me!” he yelled, his eyes filling with tears.
He thought they were friends; he thought Harvey would like him for who he was not what name he wore. He felt betrayed. The other boy knew who he was but Harry did not know who it was he had just kissed.
“Harry,” the other one said pleadingly “I knew who you were from the first word you’ve spoken. But I couldn’t let this opportunity pass to get to know you better. You would have never agreed to spend time with me if you knew who I was. Please Harry don’t leave me now, please…”
“I thought you liked me for the person I really am, not because I am the fucking Boy Who Lived.”
Harry yelled spun on his heel and ran from the tower as fast as he could.
He never heard the whispered words from the desperate blond boy left standing on the same tower:
“But I do.”
