Hermione's Summer
As Hermione began to walk away from Draco, she hoped he didn’t the tears fall slowly down her face.
‘How could someone be like that?’ she thought.
Everything had been going fine until he opened his mouth. Well, as fine as it was going to get when Malfoy was concerned.
‘The only reason Malfoy would ever care about her summer would be to fun of it or to gloat that his was so much better.’
This summer was the worst summer of her life, but Hermione would never admit to this. If it was up to her, no one would ever know what she went through this summer. Unfortunately it wasn’t. As soon as Dumbledore heard the news, he quickly came and got her. Only Dumbledore, McGonagal, and herself knew what had taken place. She then made the two swear a wizard’s oath not to tell anyone what had happened to her or she would leave the wizarding world.
Dumbledore had every reason to believe her threat and convinced McGonagal to agree. He had hoped that Hermione would tell Harry or Ron, however that seemed less likely now. By telling Harry, Hermione would cause him to feel guilty for the incident and close himself off even more to everyone. By telling Ron, she would cause a strain his and Harry’s friendship by making him keep a secret from Harry.
Dumbledore had almost taken away her title of head girl. He feared she wouldn’t be able to handle everything under these new circumstances and isolate herself in the head girl’s room. But then he remembered her past. The respect she earned from the teachers and all that studying would have gone to waste. The trust he has in her caused him to reconsider and allowed her to keep her position.
In the end, Hermione had decided to deal this the only way she knew how, on her own. Hermione was going to put on an appearance as if everything in her life was fine and bottle up the pain she felt, until she was behind closed doors. Once there, the dam could break and she could let her true emotions show.
No one would ever know that her parents were murder by death eaters this summer. No one will ever know that she witness the whole thing. But most of all, no one will ever know how it was all her fault.
