The Fall.

Days passed quickly and soon a week had passed since the fight in the Library. Ron was still not talking to Harry and Hermione much to their dismay. Draco and Hermione could sometimes be seen talking together. They had called a truce and seemed to be getting along. Harry and Pansy were getting along exceptionally well and it was rumours that soon they would be dating. Things were going well for the four of them until that Wednesday when things started going wrong.
They woke up as usual, showered and dressed before heading down to breakfast. They met at the entrance hall to greet each other before heading into the Great Hall seperately. Breakfast was normal, loud chattering going on all around them and the arrival of male. An owl flew to Hermione and held out its leg for her to take the scroll before it flew away. Hermione unrolled it to reveal a single word.

BEWARE!

Hermione read it again and tried to figure out who would have written it. She showed it to Harry who raised an eyebrow but couldn't think of who would have sent it.
After breakfast they came across a large crowd which parted to reveal a very injured, unconscious Draco Malfoy.
"He fell at least three levels," someone to their right whispered.
Hermione stepped forward because no one was bothering to help him.
"Wingardium Leviosa," she said and levitated Draco to the Infirmary.
Madam Pomfrey did a few diagnostic spells which showed major breaks in his spine, three broken ribs and a punctured lung, she set about healing him but was unsure of how long he would remain unconscious for. Hermione never left his side for long, only to eat or shower. She wasn't going to classes, Dumbledore had let her have time off when he saw how devastated she was. Days began passing slowly. She would sit there day and night either talking to him, reading or singing in hopes that he would awaken.
Meanwhile in his unconscious state, Draco could hear her but his body wasn't responding to his wake up commands.
A week had passed and Dumbledore made Hermione go back to classes with the promise that if Draco awoke she would be notified immediately.
She was in Charms on the third day of the second week concentrating on a very difficult spell when the note arrived.
"Miss Granger, can you head to the Infirmary please," Professor Flitwick informed her.
Hermione nodded before grabbing her gear and running out of the room.
Without thinking she ran into the Infirmary sliding along the slippery surgace and landing on her bottom at the end of Dracos bed.
"Interesting entrance," Draco stated smirking.
Hermione stood before giving him a glare and a hug, which he surprisingly returned.
"How are you feeling?" Hermioned enquired.
"A bit sore but otherwise I'm fine," Draco replied.
"When do you get out?" Hermione queried.
"Madam Pomfrey says I can go out tonight but no more falling down stairs," Draco answered rolling his eyes.
"That's a good plan," Hermione stated.
"We were arguing then he pushed me, I lost my balance and couldn't grab hold of the rail," Draco told her.
"Who were you arguing with?" Hermione asked.
Draco looked uncomfortable before looking away.
"I can't remember," Draco replied.
Hermione raised her eyebrow but said nothing.
"He will tell when he's ready," she thought to herself.
They sat there for a while silently before Draco asked about classes and what had been going on.
Hermione immediately began talking about all the spells and potions he had missed out on.
All too soon it was dinner time and Hermione went off to the Great Hall with the promise she would return afterwards.
Hermione was sitting eating when to her pleasant surprise Draco entered and sat at the Slytherin table with a smirk.
Harry elbowed Hermione.
"He's looking better," Harry stated.
Hermione nodded in agreement.
Suddenly a huge pure black owl carrying a dozen white roses flew down and dropped the flowers on Hermiones lap before taking off.
Hermione pulled out the card and it had on word on it.

"Thanks"

Hermione glanced around before meeting Dracos gaze with a big smile.
"Looks like our little Herm has a secret admirer," Seamus stated.
Everyone at the Gryffindor table began wolf whistling and cat calling.
Hermione blushed furiously before continuing eating her dinner.
