It All Started With a Letter
A week after and every one was settled into a new year at Hogwarts. Hermione awoke early on Saturday morning and took Eileen to the Great Hall for breakfast, letting Severus sleep.
They had only been seated for a minute when a horribly familiar owl swooped into the hall and landed in front of Hermione. She always dreaded when these letters came. They had been sent religiously for five years, every couple of months, and when Severus was around, she had pretended that they were from Harry. Her husband never question why the owl was not Hedwig.
While Eileen fed the owl some bacon, Hermione stuffed the unopened letter into her pocket. She didn\'t need to read it; they all said the same thing.
Trying to act as though nothing had happened and managing to tear her gaze away from the blonde that had just joined the Slytherin table, Hermione grabbed Eileen’s hand and took her back to the dungeons

Annie glared at the blonde on the Slytherin table; he glared back. Suddenly she turned away and laughed when Pat said that was thinking of splitting up with her Ravenclaw boyfriend.
\"It\'s not funny!\" She told Annie indignantly.
\"Sshh!\" Annie hissed out of the corner of her mouth, \"Just... look as though I’ve said something funny! Laugh!\"
\"Ha ha ha!\" Pat said sarcastically.
\"No quick!\" Annie hissed again, \"He\'s looking!... I mean... um...\"
\"See!\" Pat cried, \"You want to impress him!\"
She threw her head back and cackled. Annie sighed, at leased it looked as though she had said something funny.

Lucius watched as Pat threw her head back and laughed. Annie must have said something witty. She had a very sharp tongue and she could always come up with quick retorts.
Sometimes he found himself in conflict.
She\'s a Gryffindor...
She can\'t help that!
She didn\'t have to get herself put on their Quiditch team, though!
Yes, but neither did I...
Yes you did! Slytherin needed you! The team was terrible before you!
But... she\'s pretty...
So? Tom Riddle was meant to be handsome, but look what he turned out like!
Yes, but he was evil!
He was pulled back to the present when he found the Weasleys had left.

Hermione pulled off her jacket and threw it on her bed. Severus came strolling through the door, his shadow at his heels.
\"You didn\'t wake me this morning,\" he frowned.
Eileen piped up before Hermione could speak, \"Mummy got a letter!\"
Severus raised his eyebrows and Hermione wondered how she hadn\'t strangled her daughter earlier, as she said, \"It was from Harry. He wanted to know if we could baby sit Lily. I\'ve just come back from the owlery. I told him we couldn\'t.\"
It was not a total lie; she had just been to the owlery and she had been sending a negative response. Just not to Harry.
She followed Severus out of the room, not noticing Eileen climbing onto the bed.
\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"
Eileen climbed onto her mummy\'s bed and pulled her jacket around her. It was big and smelled nice. Like her mummy and a bit like her daddy. Why it would smell like her dad, Eileen didn\'t know.
She put her small arms through the sleeves and then worked her hands into the pockets; sometimes her mummy had sweets hidden in there.
But no, not today. She only had an envelope. Suddenly, Eileen was bored with her mummy bedroom. She went into the living room. It was empty. Eileen picked up one of the small stuffed dragons her auntie Ginny had brought her and she started to make it a bed out of the parchment.
\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"
Lucius stalked down to Hermione’s rooms. He had homework, but that could wait. He hated to admit it, but he needed help.
He entered the living room and found Eileen playing with one of her toys. Deciding to wait for Hermione and Snape to come back, he knelt down beside her.
\"What\'re you doing, devil?\" He asked.
\"Playing,\" She answered.
Lucius looked down; she had a dragon wrapped in some parchment. He was going to stand up again, when he noticed there was something written on the parchment.
Snatching the parchment away, he held it out of Eileen’s reach and unfolded it.
\"Give it back!\" She shouted.
Lucius ignored her. It was addressed to Hermione, but unopened. Curiosity took over and he opened the envelope.
