Chapter 4
So here it is!!
Chapter 4!
Sorry it's been so long; November I was doing Nano, December I spent at my parents, and I've been really busy since I got back!
But finally, here it is!
Still no story title, and no chapter titles, I just can't think of them!

"Oh Miss Granger, whatever's the matter?" exclaimed Madame Pomfrey, hurrying out of her office in the hospital wing.
Hermione smiled weakly at Madam Pomfrey.
She wasn’t really lying, she told herself; she hadn’t been sleeping at all well, and she would certainly welcome the relief of some dreamless sleep for a while.
“I’ve just not been sleeping well, Madam Pomfrey,” she started, then sighed deeply, wishing she could confide in someone, anyone... well, perhaps not anyone. She shuddered, remembering the look in Snape’s eyes when he had demanded she tell him the truth.
Madam Pomfrey led her to a chair and sat her down, a hand on her forehead.
“Hmm, you’re a little warm, but not much,” she said sitting down opposite Hermione.
“Tell me, dear, how are your studies?” she asked kindly.
Hermione shrugged slightly, “Mostly the same as usual, but not sleeping well is taking it’s toll a little.”
Madam Pomfrey looked over her, a hint of sadness in her eyes, “I think perhaps you’re taking on a little too much, dear. It’s not easy being the cleverest witch in the whole school.” Hermione smiled at this.
“It’s a lot to live up to, and being a prefect as well, it’s all so much. I think you’re just a little bogged down and you might be coming down with a bad cold, or perhaps the flu because of it.”
Hermione smiled gratefully, this was the perfect result for her; she didn’t have to explain what was really happening, Madam Pomfrey hadn’t examined her and seen the scars, and she could get some dreamless sleep for a while.
Madam Pomfrey stood up and looked down at Hermione, smiling kindly.
“I’ll give you a couple of pepper up potions, and you’re welcome to come and get more if you need them. I’ll also give you enough dreamless sleep potions for a week. I want you to come and see me again after they’re gone though, and let me know how you’re doing.”
Hermione stood up, “Thank you, Madam Pomfrey. Umm... could I have a note please as well? It’s just... I’m missing potions...”
Madam Pomfrey rolled her eyes. “Oh don’t you worry, dear, I’ll tell Professor Snape that you were here the whole time. Double lesson isn’t it?” she asked, as Hermione nodded her head gratefully. “Well we don’t need you to get stressed worrying about what he’ll say, do we? No, you just go to the library or your common room and get something else done.”
Hermione grinned in thanks as Madam Pomfrey went to get the potions.

Harry and Ron filed into the common room along with the other Gryffindors, and were surprised to see Hermione there, writing what looked like an essay, surrounded by books, a smile on her face.
”Hey Hermione,” said Harry, as they walked over to her and sat down, “Are you ok?”
She looked up at them and smiled, “Yeah, I am now. I’ve got some pepper up potions, and some dreamless sleep potions, Madam Pomfrey things I might be taking a little too much on and coming down with a cold, or flu.”
Harry patted her on the back, “Well we have always said you’re nuts for the amount of work you do.” He grinned widely at her, glad to see a smile back on her face.
“God, Hermione, you should be glad you missed Potions!” exclaimed Ron, dumping his bag on the table next to her books, “Snape was in a foul mood, he went nuts cos you weren’t there!”
Hermione stopped her writing and looked up at Ron nervously, “What do you mean?”
“Well, he docked Gryffindor points cos you weren’t there! Harry told him it wasn’t fair cos you were in the hospital wing, but no, that evil git didn’t care!”
Hermione stared down at the essay in front of her. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to lose us points!” she wailed, now worried about how Snape was going to be with her when he saw her next.
“Ahh don’t worry about it, Hermione,” said Harry gently, “It wasn’t your fault, and cos he was such a git, we all kept really quiet, so he didn’t take any points off me all lesson!”
He grinned down at her, and she chuckled in relief.
“Maybe I should miss potions more often,” she teased, though deep down she wondered if she could, then chided herself because she couldn’t miss such important lessons.
She sighed deeply and laid her quill down, “Well, Madam Pomfrey’s going to tell him why I was away for the whole time, so it should be ok.”
“I reckon you should talk to McGonnagal too,” said Ron, “See if she can get those points back for us.” Harry nodded next to him.
“Umm... no, I’d rather not make a fuss,” said Hermione nervously, “Besides, Snape would only be more furious with us.”
“Ugh, true,” said Ron, “God, just think of what he’d do!”
He and Harry shuddered and Hermione chuckled at them both.

Severus almost felt guilty.
Madam Pomfrey had been to see him and explained that Hermione was under a lot of pressure and that she was probably coming down with flu because of it, and so she had kept her in the hospital wing for the whole two lessons, and given her some pepper up and dreamless sleep potions.
He knew that Hermione was under a lot of pressure, but he also knew it wasn’t the kind of pressure that Madam Pomfrey thought it was.
He realised that dreamless sleep potions would be ideal and hopefully help her get to a stage where she could confide to someone, if she hadn’t already.
Maybe she’d confided in Madam Pomfrey... no, the staff would all know if any of them had been told.
Potter and Weasley?
She seemed to be happy in their presence, so probably not. She was just putting on an act in front of them.
He sighed and stared down at the pile of essays he was meant to be marking.
Had he been too harsh in taking points from Gryffindor today because she hadn’t been in his lesson?
He knew she was avoiding him, but he couldn’t blame her, and a trip to the hospital wing was one of the best things for her.
He’d certainly been too harsh with her when he saw her last night, but how could he let something like that go so easily?
Frustrated he threw his quill down and stood, pulling his cloak from the back of his chair and draping it over himself.
He quickly made his way up to Gryffindor tower. It was only just after 10, so most of the students would still be awake.
