Interventions

A/N: I\'ve determined that I need to slow things down and to try to flesh things out a bit. My best reviewer thought I could improve if I slowed down and I wish to try to make it as good as I can. I chose to begin working on the Year 2. Please see the standard disclaimer in chapter 1.

It was the first day of classes. Harry and Draco were sitting with Hermione and Perrin at the Gryffindor table when Professor Dumbledore was pulled aside by Professor Meg Lupin. After a hurried conference between the two of them the professor made an announcement.

\"The Corey School for Muggle-born Witches and Wizards has been attacked.\" Professor Dumbledore said. \"It has been determined that the remaining students will be transfering to Hogwarts as of this evening. There will be several other teachers who will be assisting in education of all students. The Sorting ceremony will be held this evening.\"

\"That was a surprise,\" Perrin said. \"Usually the other side would steer their clients away from a direct confrontation. I guess this dark lord is more rabid than their usual clientele.\"

The three were getting ready to go to class when a last minute owl came and dropped a letter to Harry who read it and then turned pale as a ghost.

\"What\'s wrong Harry?\" Draco asked.

Without a word Harry handed the note to Draco.

Due to the development of certain characteristics that are activated when someone takes part in the new health-care system, Dudley has become like you. I want you to make sure that nothing happens to him in that school. He was always delicate in his health to begin with.

\"Bloody Hell!\" Draco said. \"You mean that Whale that you used to live with was jumped up to be able to use magic?\"

\"Evidently so.\" Harry said. \"I hope she doesn\'t expect me to hold his hand. I\'ll feed him to the squid.\"

\"Come on Harry.\" Hermione said. \"We\'re going to be late for Technomancy.\"

The technomancy wing was a new addition to the school. It was a square multi-level building with classrooms and labs on the first floor, Labs on the next 3 floors, a Tech library on the 5th floor and the living quarters for the Tech staff on the 6th floor. The four friends took a table near the front of the classroom.

Professor Freeman-Lupin walked into the room and waived a wand at the white board which became covered in terms and definitions.

\"Welcome to your First-ever Technomancy class.\" Professor Freeman said. \"It was thought that because you are young when you get here that you wouldn\'t be able to handle the mathematics and some of the charms necessary to get good at this. I was against the age restriction. You will find on the board a list of terms and definitions that you will need to begin to learn. Magic and technology will not work together on a normal basis. The art of Technomancy is to develop a Magical Technology that will greatly improve the lives of all in question.\"

\"Professor,\" Blais Zabini asked. \"Is it true that your company is also into the manufacture of Technomancy weapons to try to wipe out muggles?\"

The professor walked over to the dais where her student role was. \"Mr... Zabini.\" She said. \"That sounds like the type of tripe that our competition would sell to their clients. They, by the way, tend to have Evil Overlord types as clients. We DO have healthcare and Genetic engineering to remove any birth defects before birth. Yes, there is often the side effect that our technomancy tends to awaken the subject. But we do not make weapons to wipe out the Muggles.\"

Holding up her hand Hermione asked \"What do you mean Awaken?\"

\"Good Question Miss Lupin.\" The professor said with a wink. \"Everyone has a limited amount of ability in many fields. Some people are dormant in the fields of Magic, psionics, or Paranormal abilities. An Awakened Muggle is someone who has had the talent go Active.\"

The rest of the class was somewhat quiet and the professor began giving lectures on muggle technology that had been charmed. The students left the class with their heads feeling somewhat full and dreading when the professor was to begin the Advanced Mathematics portion of the curriculem.

That evening at Dinner the Sorting Hat was sitting in front of the teachers table. 6 more teachers were added to the roster and 50 students were sorted. The final count was Slytherin got 10 students for all 7 years. Ravenclaw got 20. Hufflepuff got 15. Gryffindore got 5. Dudley was sorted into Slytherin.
