Chapter 4 - Hector the Horrible
~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~

I’m a little more than useless
And I never knew I knew this
Was gonna the day, gonna be the day
That I would do something right
Do something right for once

I notice, I know this
Week is a symbol of how I use my time
Resent it, I spent it
Convincing myself the world\'s doing just fine

A few weeks passed. Pansy had laid off the attacks and life was back to normal. So again Hermoine Granger had taken over the largest table in the library. The library was closed, but Hermoine had her ways around that. She sat, immersed in “Horrible Hector: When Niffler’s attack”.
The light she was reading in changed, and then went back to normal. Blameing her eyes she shook her head and went back to reading. It did it again, but this time it had a shape, a person. A shadow was blocking her light.

Thinking Peeve’s the Poltergiste was behind her she didn’t bother to turn around. The shadow moved and looked as if it was raising a book up into the air. That brought her out of the Niffler haze she was in. The sound of a shoe scuffing the floor was the first noise heard.

Stealthily Hermoine reached into her hidden wand pocket and grabbed hold of it, very tightly. She braced herself to jump quickly when the sound of a struggle breeched the silence once more. She turned and saw, right above her, Pansy with a very heavy book in her hand. She could have sworn that the book was about to hit her.

She must have been going insane, at least that was she thought until she saw what must have stopped Pansy.

Behind Pansy was Draco Malfoy. Draco Malfoy had saved her…again… what in the world was going on? She snapped out of her thoughts when Pansy began to struggle against Draco’s restraining hands.

“Get off me, you brute! Unhand me! I’ll tell my father! I’ll tell YOUR father! Let me go! She deserved it! S’mores my arse!” Draco just tightened his hold on her head and looked at Hermoine.

“Well, I guess we’re going to have to add dark and empty libraries to our list of places to avoid aren’t we Granger? Saving you is just too easy now-a-days.” Draco shoved Pansy out of the Library, and followed quickly behind her. Hermoine sat back down to finish her homework for the next month but could only think of the blonde, and what devious things she could do with him.

The next day at breakfast she was eating her crepes and totally ignoring Ron and Harry’s babble about Quidditch. Lost in her own little world she thought only of a certain blonde and wondering why he was saving her so often. It was getting quite annoying actually. She, Hermoine Granger, smartest witch at Hogwarts, needed saving! She gave a soft snort of annoyance and turned to the boys again.

Being able to ignore Quidditch talk was one thing, ignoring as the hair on the back of her neck stood up was totally a different one. Someone was watching her. Looking around, but purposefully missing the Slytherin table she noticed that Ron was watching her… again. ‘This really has to stop! It’s well on its way to becoming dangerous.’ She smiled weakly and leaned against Harry.

He noticed her lack of energy, and the signal they had worked out, and wrapped his arm around her waist.

“Come on Hermoine, let’s get you to your room.” Ron started to get up, but at Harry’s words, paused.

“No, its ok Ron. I got it, Herms and me….we’re used to this. We got a routine going. Finish eating and we’ll meet up again after dinner.” They walked out of the Great Hall together, with more than one pair of eyes on them.

“Harry, something has got to change. It’s wearing me out, keeping my eyes open for not only him but that Parkinson whore as well. Ron is getting worse and worse. What am I supposed to do when I find him in my room again?” Hermione was still leaning against him, full on leaning. Once they were out of sight of the Great Hall they paused, letting Hermoine catch her breath and calm down.

“We could talk to Dumbledore. He would know of someway to fix this.” Hermoine stumbled a bit at his words.

“I can’t do that Harry. He hasn’t done anything harmful yet. If he does, You will be the second to know, Dumbledore being the first. I just, don’t want this going around. I need to be able to focus on school, not Ron.” They continued on in silence. Each thinking of different endings to this problem.

“Goodnight Harry, thank you.” Was all that she said when they reached her room. She didn’t reappear until morning.

The next morning in Potions Hermoine seemed more withdrawn and tired. It was obvious that she wasn’t getting enough sleep. Seeing Draco with only two of his friends she decided that then was the right time to thank him for saving her again.

She walked up to the trio leaning against the wall. “Malfoy, I just wanted to thank you. For the other night in the Library. It was very noble of you.” She waited, just to see if he would say anything. One blonde eyebrow went up, that was all.

“What’s the mudblood talking about Draco?” Asked one of the sidekicks. Jostling Draco in the process.

“Knock it off you. I don’t know what she’s blathering about.” He turned back to Hermoine, with a look that said, ‘what are you waiting for’ very visible across his face.

Her face paled, however she didn’t break down, no. Instead she tossed her chin up, and looked him right in the eyes. “For you to grow Your backbone Malfoy.” She turned and strode away. The entire time cursing herself for even thinking that he would be civil. ‘Gosh How could I be so bloody stupid! To think that he would maybe. Just no! Gah! That was a bad idea Herms, very bad.

She was marching so quickly, and so blindly she didn’t even notice it when her feet took her to the library. ‘of course they would, where in the hell else do I have to go?’ Walking in she grabbed “Hogwarts: A History” and settled into her favorite chair. Soon the frown turned to a smile, and the wrinkles in her brow smoothed away.

Unknown to her, there was someone else in the library that night.

“Your welcome Kitten.” Came out of the darkness.

“Draco? Are you there? Come out here at once! Lurking in dark corners like that.” But no one came forward. Leaving the library as fast as she can, she left her tie behind.

Black leather gloves, soft from use, picked up the red and gold tie. Running it softly through his fingers he dreamed.

AN: Well! Another Lia Chapter! I hope you all enjoyed it! We have decided to make the next update at 8 reviews or a week! REVIEW PEOPLE! :D One review I would like to address.
“but I\'ve seen every episode of Roseanne like 15 times since maybe the age of 7...and ya know I could have sworn that glass whorehouse comment came from the episode when Rosanne lets David move in and freaks out on his mom for calling Becky and Darlene sluts. It\'s an awesome zinger, and I think it was suiting....but I hope you give credit to where you get your quotes... It only seems respectable to other writers.”

I talked to Toyna about this, and she said that she has heard it around quite a bit. But to make everyone happy. THAT LINE WAS HEARD ON ROSANNE SO ROCK ON TO THEIR writers! I hope that is suffencent! Thank you in advance for reviewing!

Lia!

From Tonya - Yeah I\'ve heard that line alot, its one of those jokes used all over the place. I\'ve heard it from various shows, books and my firend Kate has it in her frequent vocab. If authors had to credit every joke in thier stories even the most common ones then the bibilography would be longer than the chapter itself. Whos to say that \"Roseanne\" was the first to ever use it? And btw I am a big fan of Roseanne, the show has a special place in my heart due to personal reasons and recent deaths. I would never in any way disrespect them.

to the rest of you. Hope you liked the chap :)
