Chapter 4. Angry Gryffindors.
Snape had been right; the Gryffindor tower was empty when Harry returned, so was able to go right to sleep.
In the morning Harry stared up at the bed on top of his, he half wished Ron would jump on his bed, and tell him to go to breakfast with him, but he knew it wouldn’t happen. With a sigh, Harry got out of bed and saw that the room was empty. He went into the common room where he saw Ginny, Ron, Hermione, and Neville all talking.
“Hey Harry,” Neville waved.
“He…”
“Don’t talk to him. YOU traitor!,” Ginny Spat at Harry then turned to Neville and cried, “He yelled at Hermione, and told her to shut up.”
“What? Harry?” Neville asked his eyes wide.
“Neville, that’s not the whole story.” Harry sighed.
“Whatever Harry! You’re supposed to be my friend, you’re not supposed to yell at me for my beliefs.” Hermione screamed.
“Fuck off Hermione. You…Just…” Harry stared at the group of Gryffindors and then huffed off to the great hall for breakfast.
At the table….
“Eww it’s Faggy Potter.” Seamus Declared as Harry sat next to him at the Gryffindor table. “Just kidding, Harry.”
“…”
“Hermione told us you like it up the butt!” Parvati squealed in disbelief.
“Hermione!” The fact that it got out, hadn’t truly surprised Harry, the fact that it was Hermione and not Ron spreading his secret is what got him.
“So did you and Ron ever…you know.” Seamus asked quietly.
“Or is it all just a lie?” Parvati asked, her voice sounding hopeful.
“It’s true…uh, that I like guys, I mean.” Harry said, “But no, I don’t like Ron that way, and besides he isn’t that way.”
Just then the four Gryffindors Harry had had a confrontation with earlier arrived.
“Seamus! I can’t believe your talking to this sick person.”
“Aww come on Hermione. You can’t tell me your being such a prat about this. SO what if he’s gay.” Seamus said smiling at Hermione.
“UGH. So what? SO what! He yelled at me!”
“Calm down Mione, We can sit at the other end.” Ginny said calmly.
Ron just stared at his feet.
Hermione huffed, “Let’s go Ron.”
“Um..” Ron began looking at Harry, but then just turned around. “Coming Mione.”
When the four left, Seamus put his hand on Harry’s shoulder, “It’s okay, Ron will come around, just think about who you’re fighting with. Ron’s a good guy, but he’s not thinking with the right head.”
Harry smiled and Parvati swooned, “Aww Seamus, that’s so sweet.”
“Thanks, want to go to the astronomy tower tonight.”
Parvati gasped and Seamus winked at her.
Harry chuckled and feeling a little better shoved some eggs in his mouth.
The rest of the day went quickly for Harry, thankfully his secret hadn’t been told past Ginny, Seamus and Parvati. Harry hadn’t eaten lunch so by dinner he was starved.
Harry sat down by Seamus, who looked at him sadly.
“What’s up?” Harry asked.
“Harold,” Parvati began, “I don’t really want you hanging around Seamus, I mean, you are gay and I don’ want you to give him any ideas…Um, and besides that Ginny told me about what a git you were being to Hermione, and I just don’t want to loose her friendship, so….”
“I see.” Harry stated firmly and looked at Seamus.
“Sorry Harry. I…. I can still be your partner though, like in NEWT Charms or any other class.” He smiled.
“That’s okay Seamus.” Harry got up and left the Great Hall. All the while, the potions master watched as Boy-Who-Lived’s mood went from elated to depressed.
Harry went outside and walked around the Hogwarts Castle; it started raining. If anything, Harry was thankful he had already gotten his homework done. I hate Hermione, and Ron, and Neville, and Seamus, and Parvati, and Dumbledore, and…and…
Harry sighed and sat on the uncut grass. A tear ran down Harry’s cheek and as he brushed it off with one hand, while he used the other to reach into his pocket and pull out a shiny, sharp object.
Later…
Harry ran inside, he didn’t notice the time, until one of his blood droplets fell upon his watch. He freaked. It was one thing to be caught breaking curfew while inside but it was quite another to be caught while outside.
Unfortunately in his haste, Harry ran right into Severus Snape.
“Potter!” Snape grunted as he pushed the young man off him, “You should be in Gryffindor tower by now.”
“I was just headed there, sir.” Harry lied; he had planned to take refuge in Myrtle’s Bathroom or in the Room of Requirements.
Snape sneered in disbelief
And Harry sighed not wanting to argue, and knowing he’d be better off if he just told the truth, it worked yesterday, didn’t it? “I was going for a walk, and I lost track of time.” Ok so that’s sorta the truth.
“Still fighting with Weasely and Granger then?”
Harry let out a breath of relief, he wasn’t going to get in trouble, “Granger… I mean Hermione mostly.” Snape nodded and headed toward the Dungeons, Harry followed and continued his story. “Ron hasn’t said anything to me, he looked like he wanted to, but didn’t. I think, he, he might want to be friends again sometime, but Hermione is holding him back right now, and he really likes her; he has since 1st year.” And it was at the end of that sentence that Harry first noticed that he was actually willing following Snape around, like some kind of lap dog!
“Your stop.” Snape said suddenly breaking Harry’s train of thought.
“Huh?”
“This hallway, it leads to Gryffindor tower.”
“I know.”
“So it’s where you and I go our separate ways Mr. Potter.”
“Oh. Right.” Harry blushed. Right, and I thought… . He turned and headed toward the hallway.
“Unless of course you’d like to come in for some tea.” Snape said not looking at Harry.
Harry thought, well I’d like the company. Especially such good looking company. AHHH. Shut up Harry. Um okay. “Okay.”
Snape continued his walk and Harry followed silently. Severus hadn’t intended to invite Harry for tea, but Harry’s confused look at the fork in the hall, made him feel sorry for the boy. Severus remembered his own school days and recalled when he came out to the student body; those were not his favorite memories.
