The Orb of Fate
Leaving the Dursleys
Disclaimer: As everyone should know I do not own any of these characters, they belong to J.K Rowling. (Unless I see fit to add some from my imagination, but honestly, if Rowling would want to use them I wouldn’t be complaining) Please don’t sue me considering I don’t have anything worth having.
Krystal925: Oh dear, that is a problem sense this story will be full of them. Just don’t start hating me for it *lol*.
eve/roarke: I know I’m just confusing sometimes. And that I have you hooked is nice so maybe I won’t give any answers away at all *starts giggling devilishly*. Don’t apologize; I need to know where I’m wrong in spelling and grammar so I can improve. I don’t want people to say ‘She’s good for being Swedish’ I want them to say ‘She’s good’ so if I get something wrong please tell me. But thank you for the compliment; I do take pride in my English even if I sometimes have to look up words in the dictionary.
Kat: Yes, I did consider that one and to be honest Harry hasn’t really understood the true meaning of the word ‘union’ just yet *lol*. He jumped right into denial. *hugs back*
And an even bigger big hug to all of you, for taking the time to write reviews. You don’t know how much it means to me.
Oh I love getting these fabulous reviews. When I get one I think “Wow, I want to write more right away”. So I do, and just between you and me, I don’t think I would be updating so soon if it wasn’t for them. And I don’t think Harry is stupid in the books and I don’t think his stupid here either even if his thoughts are naïve. I just don’t think Harry would quietly accept that he had to do anything together with Snape so he’s just in denial. Also I believe that it’s always sad when you end a chapter in you’re life to start a new one so Harry does hate the Dursley’s even if… well just read the chapter and you will understand.
Chapter description: Tonks and Lupin to the rescue.
~ * ~
The next day Harry sat on his bed thinking about Dumbledore’s letter. He really didn’t understand what Dumbledore meant. His situation? Had Voldemort tried something again, already? It wasn’t impossible of course, but his failure the last time had Harry believing that it would take a while for him to come up with something new.
At least he would be picked up and most likely brought to Grimmauld Place. That he was looking forward to. He had no idea if Ron and Hermione were there yet but he hoped they were. The thing that amazed him the most was the fact that he only had to stay with the Dursley\'s a little over a week this time. Although it had been a week that felt more like an eternity.
He’d put the other letter, the one from Bill, away in his trunk. And there it was going to stay until he discovered a way to destroy it. He’d tried everything he could think of; ripping it apart, cutting it with scissors, even hacking it with a knife. Nothing seem to work. The weirdest part was when he simply put it in the trash outside then went back inside the house. When he got back inside, the letter was lying on the coffee table in the living room. Apparently, the spell placed on the parchment wasn’t going to go away until he was back at Hogwarts and could use magic to break it.
He wasn’t going to let the twins know he actually believed what they had written- even for a second. They would have a real field trip about that one. In all probability, Ginny was also involved in the prank and Harry didn’t like falling for one of the Weasley-twins and their sidekick’s pranks. He decided that if they did pester him about it he would tell Mrs Weasley. That would show them to mess with him in the future.

It wasn’t until late that evening, while Harry was eating dinner, when the knock on the door came. Dudley hurried up to his room immediately. \'He can be fast when he wants to be,\' Harry thought before his uncle, now slightly pink, opened the door.
“Hello, Mr Durlsey is it?” Harry recognised that voice. “I’m Tonks and this is Lupin. We are here to collect Harry.” Harry also heard his uncle bark something back and two seconds later Tonks appeared in the kitchen smiling brightly at him.
“Hello there Harry, how are you? Packed all your things, have you? Let’s go get them.” She practically pulled Harry out of his seat and up the stairs leaving Lupin alone downstairs with Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia. \'Poor Lupin!\' was all he could think before Tonks entered his room and looked around.
“But you haven’t packed everything.” she said, clearly surprised. Harry, who didn’t understand, looked at his trunk. It was packed and quite well to. That’s all he seemed to have energy for the entire day. That and trying desperately to destroy the letter.
“The posters and pictures and stuff.” She clarified as she waved at the room and managing to knock over said picture. “Ahm… sorry about that.” She picked it up and gave it to Harry who finally understood what she was talking about.
He needed to pack all of his things because he would never be coming back… It was strange, he should be overjoyed by the fact and he was. But, he also felt sad for some reason. This had been his home, even if it hadn’t been a good home, for almost seventeen years. When packing the rest of his belongings, which wasn’t a lot to begin with, he could hear upset voices from downstairs. Apparently Lupin made quite the stir.
Tonks helped him levitate the trunk and the extra things that he put in an old, dusty bag from the closet, downstairs. “Everything set Remus?” she asked.
Harry thought he detected a slight hint of worry.
“Yes, finally.” Lupin answered and put the piece of paper he was holding in his hand back into his pocket.
Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia were eyeing him and the almost sympathetic look he was receiving from his aunt felt nerve-racking.
“Uhm…” Harry started “I guess this is goodbye.” He didn’t know what to say but felt that something needed to be said.
“I told you they were going to ruin your life.” Vernon grunted and left.
“Like you haven’t.” he snapped back not knowing what Vernon actually meant. The anger that welled up inside helped. He hated them, as simple as that, and he loved the fact that he was leaving.
“We will use a port key.” Tonks informed him and checked the clock while digging a pencil out of her pocket.
Harry grabbed the pencil in one hand and Hedwig’s cage in the other. Just before the tug pulled him away, he heard Aunt Petunia speak. “Take care, Harry.” When he looked back she was smiling sadly and that was the last thing he saw of # 4 Privet Drive.
