Chapter 4

In no time at all Harry fond himself heading to Kings Cross in order to board the Hogwarts Express.

His last week at home had been relatively quiet, (if you discounted the temper tantrum thrown by Lucius when he found out that Harry would be going on a second date with Oliver) Harry’s relationship with Oliver had ground to a rather unexciting halt when they found out they had nothing in common other than Quidditch. The goodbye was well understood by both; they knew it wouldn’t work so it was really over before it had begun. Harry wasn’t about to let Lucius know that however, he didn’t have to tell the man everything. They weren’t even a couple so he didn’t have to tell him anything.

The shopping trip to Diagon Alley had been…fun. Malfoy had insisted on accompanying Harry, despite the decision to keep their association low key. Lucius decided that he wouldn’t go everywhere that the boy went but he would keep a steady eye on him. Harry had taken his time getting his stuff, wondering if it was irritating Lucius. Occasionally he would sit outside a café and have a cup of tea or an ice cream. From time to time he saw Lucius ploughing through throngs of people, deep scowl on his face. He would glare at Harry before turning away. When Harry bumped into Oliver Wood he could see Lucius over Oliver’s shoulder. The meeting was slightly uncomfortable and cut short by another presence, Draco Malfoy.

“Potter. Are you all alone, no little Weasels trying to share your limelight?”

Harry smirked. He had been ready for this. “Sod off Malfoy I don’t have time to play your games today.”

“Poor little Potty.” Draco hissed his face close to Harry’s. Harry looked back, and smiled at the boy.

“Miss me?” he whispered.

“Just your arse.” Draco admitted. Harry smiled back at the boy in front of him.

“What’s that smell?” Harry said loudly looking at Draco. People close by turned and looked at Draco sniffing the air. Harry grinned in a rather childish manner and wandered off to get something to eat, leaving a seething Draco behind. He had forgotten Lucius was watching.

“Did you get all you needed?” Tom asked as Harry walked in grinning. Behind him Lucius wore a face like thunder. Tom took one look at Lucius and knew what had happened. “Honestly Harry, you shouldn’t tease Lucius, he was only there for your own good.” Tom said sternly, yet his eyes betrayed his amusement.

“This brat trailed me all over London, insisting on going to the muggle part for some things.” Lucius spat.

“It’ll do you good Lucius; teach you how to interact better with muggles.” Tom told him. Then he turned to Harry and watched as Harry pulled out his packages, resized them and examined them one by one.

“How will we keep in contact?” Harry asked his Grandfather.

“Ah yes. I have one of these for you.” Tom said, handing Harry a black leather bound book. The book was beautiful, black leather with silver corner enhancements. The parchment was beautifully expensive. Along with it came a quill, which Harry suspected was a Hippogriff feather. “You don’t need ink. All you need do is write in the book. No one will be able to read what you write unless you want them to. We can have conversations this way, writing back and forth. I believe Lucius has one for you as well. If you cannot contact me, Lucius will be available for advice and conversations.” tom said with a smile.

The book Lucius handed him was also made to a high standard. The leather, Harry suspected, was dragon hide, and the parchment was of high quality. The quill given to him by Lucius was a little less extravagant than that of Toms, and Harry couldn’t identify where it came from.

“Thank you. Both of you.” Harry said emotion evident in his voice. He looked to Tom and smiled, and then to Lucius, whom he hugged. Both men were shocked by this display of emotion, and so too was Harry apparently for he quickly left the room.

Tom sighed; he would miss the grandson he had known for only a month.

The train, as usual, was packed. He soon found a compartment with Neville, Ginny and Luna. Falling back into the seat he didn’t even bother to enquire as to where Ron and Hermione were, knowing they were probably off doing prefect duties. It wasn’t long before he heard that Hermione was head girl and Draco head boy. He wasn’t surprised really; they both worked hard and deserved the positions. Luna spent most of her time staring at a spot above Harry’s head. Harry himself had almost twisted his neck out of shape in order to see what she was looking at but gave up as the train reached the Midlands.

Soon the compartment door opened and a shock of red hair came in followed by a shock of hair. Ron threw himself into the seat beside Harry and stole some of Harry’s sweets.

“Hello to you too.” Harry muttered. “Congratulations Hermione.” Harry told his best friend, standing up to give the girl a hug. Hermione seemed to be rather flattered and gushed as Harry wrapped his arms around her.

“Well well well, isn’t this a pretty sight, the saviour of the wizarding world cuddling a mudblood.” Draco Malfoy said into the compartment.

“Sod off Malfoy.” Ron spat.

“Cant you get a new line?” Malfoy sneered at Ron. Harry merely ignored Draco and soon he got irritated and went away.

The journey was uneventful and soon they had landed at Hogwarts. The great feast was as usual, Dumbledore talked nonsense, and they ate themselves stuffed and went to bed.

Harry was the first to breakfast the next morning. He had a restless night, for the first time missing his room with the Dursley’s. As he sat down a new timetable appeared at his place. Great, he had Double Advanced Potions first, followed by Double Charms. Harry hated potions, and had only done the class because he gained a good grade in his OWL and he enjoyed the idea of irritating Snape. Hermione appeared next and Ron was just in time to grab his timetable and a slice of toast before he had to rush off to some class he didn’t know existed.

“Honestly, you would think that this year he would take things a little more seriously don’t you Harry. I mean…” As Hermione babbled on Harry looked around the corridor to the dungeons. He wondered if there were others in his class that he could trust. He highly doubted that he could trust anyone in his year.

“Sit-down, shut up, and listens.” Snape snapped as his pupils entered the room. “This is 7th year. I don’t have time to run around wiping your running nose and folding your socks. You all should have the ability to work without me in the room. I expect little bother from you all. I am going to give you a lesson plan until Christmas. After Christmas we will be revising only, so I expect you to do 10 months work in 4 months. This will mean preparation. If you do not like it, or are afraid of the work go away, I can’t be bothered with you.” Snape looked around the room, challenging anyone to leave. He looked rather disappointed when no one did. “Very well, fools. I will assign you to groups, which I expect you to stick to. You and your partner will work together for the rest of the year, and I expect you to spend as much time together out of class as in my class. Zabini and Granger, Patil and Finnegan, Potter and Malfoy…” Harry smirked; he had expected to be paired with Draco. He wondered what Snape would really make of his and Dracos’ relationship. He moved his thing to sit beside Draco. Yes this was going to be an interesting year.

Harry collapsed onto his bed. Thankfully it was Friday. His first week had worn him out completely. He didn’t even have the energy to blink properly. Sleep came quickly to him. He dreamed of Lucius, kissing him and touching him. He woke in the night, in shock. Tossing and turning Harry tried to get back to sleep but to no avail. Sighing he reached for the two books and their respective quills given to him by Tom and Lucius.

He attempted to contact Tom, and was not surprised to find the man non responsive. He was most likely in bed. He tired Lucius next.

#Malfoy you there?#

Within minutes a reply came.

#Potter. What on earth is wrong?#

#Sorry. Did I wake you?#

#No.#

#I can’t sleep.#

#Why are you bothering me?#

#‘Cause your awake. How was your day?#

#Tedious. I was busy doing Malfoy business. How was your first week?#

#Tiring. I had a dream.#

#Oh?# Harry could just imagine the look on Lucius face. It would be of mild interest but really he knew he would be itching to know where this was going.

#About you. And me.#

#Uh huh. What happened?#

#Not much, you kissed me.#

#That all?#

#Yes.#

#Oh.#

#I’m going to go now. I need a walk.#

#Ok. Goodbye Harry.#

#Goodbye Lucius.#

Harry had been walking for hours. Why did he tell Lucius about the dream? Harry decided he needed help, something heavy dropped on his head that would fix it.

Suddenly an arm sprang out of darkness and grabbed him. Harry had no time to protest as he was pulled into an empty room and kissed. Harry allowed his mouth to be explored, he knew only one man who kissed like that. Draco had obviously gotten a little taller over the summer. Harry moaned as his hips were pushed into the wall and an erection ground against him. The mouth left his and began to kiss along his jaw, down over his collarbone, fingers playing with the bottom of his jumper.

“Oh Draco.” Harry moaned aloud. Draco froze. And stopped. Why did he stop? Harry looked up into Draco’s eyes, and found himself looking into the eyes of Lucius.
