Chapter 4
Lucius led Harry to the couch again, helping him sit. He walked back over to Severus’ chair and perched on the arm. He and Severus were comfortable with each other in a familial way after so many years as friend, confidant and back watcher. Harry looked on in amazement, feeling a slow jealousy build when he looked at them. He sat as patiently as he could, waiting to see who would start. Since the two older men just watched him, Harry decided he would start it.
“Severus, I’m sorry for earlier. I have no idea what came over me. I would never intentionally cause you harm. I know you left us alone to get something to help me. Will you still share it with me?” Harry waited for an answer, worrying in case Severus turned him down.
Severus cleared his throat, looked at Lucius and then to the distraught young man. He took the glass from Lucius and downed it. Lucius grimaced. “No wonder people think I drink so much. Everyone around me keeps taking mine and I have to get more. Bugger this.” He waved his hand and two more glasses along with a full bottle of fire whiskey appeared in front of them. “Two only Harry. Dumbledore will have my heads and balls if you get drunk.” Lucius nudged the man in the chair. “Enough stalling Severus. Start.”
Severus cleared his throat again. “Harry what we are going to show and tell you will be difficult to hear and believe. You have known me for years as a teacher. In all that time I have never lied to you. It won’t be any different now, although you may wish it was a lie when we are done.” Severus stopped and Lucius picked it up.
“Harry, we have to go back in history for this to become clear for you. We can start in the fairly newer history and continue back if need be. If you have questions, ask. Just try to control yourself and your magic. You know how things have been lately.” Harry knew only too well what he meant. He had alienated all of the other houses except for a few students and just about all the Gryffindors avoided him since the last battle. “I’m listening.”
Severus drew in a deep breath. “Well you see Harry, when we, Lucius and I, were here so were your parents, Lupin and Black. At first we were at least sociable with each other, then it grew a little closer until Tom Riddle came back and began ruining things. Tom made sure none of us would band together. Apparently the fool wasn’t as much of a fool as we were led to believe. He apparently did his research and discovered that if certain persons were born under strong signs and if they produced children together, the children would be incredibly strong and powerful.”
“What we discovered and would have been killed for if Tom knew we knew, is the shocking part. There was absolutely dick shit he could have done about one pairing.” Severus stopped, grinned and took a drink. Lucius picked up the tale. “Harry, what he is so miserably failing at explaining is some things will be, no matter what others want. We are talking about your parents Harry. James and Lily were meant for each other in more than one way. It’s true your mother was a pure blood witch. What is not common knowledge was your father’s background. The Potters are an old Wizarding Family with their own closely guarded secrets. You, my lover, are the culmination of two powerful magic beings. You mother was born under the Double Cancer while your father was born with {Venus in the house of Mercury}. Not only powerful and intelligent blessings were upon him, but also his magical signature was strong. You see Harry, your father’s family has hid the knowledge for many years that the males carry the Veela genes. When your father came into his powers and found your mother, even though they had been together before that, there was no way to stop the future. It was set in the stars and they blessed us with you.” Lucius stopped and looked at Harry sitting there confused. “Harry ask us.”
Harry cleared his throat and looked at the two. “You are sitting there as calm as can be while my secure little world just falls apart. I thought at least what I knew about my parents was true. You just blew that out of the Astronomy Tower windows.” Harry continued. “My mother was a pureblood and my father was part Veela. I inherited all the characteristics of their powers. So how does that explain what’s happening to me now?” He huffed in frustration.
The two older men just looked at each other then to Harry. Lucius spoke up again. “Harry, what have they taught you in the History of Magic and the Care of Magical Creatures? Have they ever discussed Veelas?” Harry shook his head. Lucius smacked the back of Severus head. “What is wrong with you Severus? You have the old man’s ear, why didn’t you make sure it was in the curriculum?” Severus glared back and bitch-slapped Lucius in the back of the head. “Pompous Ass. You are on the Board of Directors, why didn’t you force it?” Lucius looked like he was ready to keep this up but he suddenly froze. He felt the movement in the air and felt himself being lifted as an angry snarl erupted from Harry. Lucius looked at the younger man. “Not again Harry. Stop and listen to me.” Lucius stroked his hand down the side of Harry’s face, letting his wrist brush across the half-Veela’s lips. Harry breathed in deep as the pulse point touched his lips, causing his lips to stop the arm and suck on the wrist.
Lucius groaned at the sensations running rampant through him. His young raven-haired lover was bringing out the sexual side Lucius had repressed because of his previous home life with Narcissa. At least Harry had stopped his murderous intentions towards Severus for the moment. “Harry go sit down. It’s fine. Severus and I have been like this since we were younger than you. He is as close to a brother as I have and we will never maim each other.
Harry returned to the couch, still glaring at Severus. Severus, in turn, glared at Lucius.
“Lucius, if I am reading all the signs correctly, we haven’t much time to contain this before all Hell breaks loose. I suggest you talk fast. In fact, in deference to earlier exhibitions, I would encourage you to take Harry and the book back to your quarters and ward them well. Make a quick and concise study of it and then see Albus in the morning.” Severus stood then and addressed Harry. “Harry, go with Lucius, he will be far better explaining this to you now. I realize what is going on and that you have no control over it yet. We will talk more once you and Lucius have had a chance to discuss matters.”
