Dinner

Chapter Four: Dinner

Severus left the Headmaster’s office and walked to the edge of the Forbidden Forest to apparate to Tonks’ London house. He knocked on the door and Tonks, now with shoulder length blue hair, opened the door. She was wearing a button down white shirt and blue skirt under light blue dress robes.

“Hi!” she said brightly. “Well, don’t stand out in the cold, come on in.” She ushered him in from the lightly falling snow. “I don’t really have much to cook with, so we may need to go shopping.”

“I’m sure we can find something.” He walked into her spacious living room. The walls were a shade of blue similar to her hair and robes. She had a dark blue couch and matching throne-like chairs. The couch sat in front of a roaring fire on a dark blue oriental rug over light blue carpeting. “You match your house.”

“How very perceptive. I change it to go with myself all the time.”

“How clever. Could you show me the way to the kitchen?”

She led him into a narrow hallway and past several doors to a kitchen. He watched as she screwed up her face and suddenly was dressed in green to match the room. In the middle of the kitchen sat an island where he assumed food preparation was done. It looked as though it had never been used. He looked around, poking through drawers. He found the plates and silverware covered in dust. “You really don’t cook, do you?”

“No. Not at all. The last time I tried I ended up with these teeny tiny cuts all over the place and my stove exploded. I had to buy a new one. I don’t think I have anything to eat besides some muggle cereal and milk. If the milk hasn’t gone sour by now, that is.”

“Well, where do you eat if not here?” he asked, astounded at the young witch’s clumsiness in the kitchen.

“I eat at the Order a lot. Sometimes I eat at work. Sometimes the Leaky Cauldron. I eat all over the place. Just not here.”

“Perhaps we should go shopping. I know of a great little shop in Diagon Alley.”

The apparated to the Leaky Cauldron and crossed the barrier into Diagon Alley. “It’s this way, come on,” Severus said, taking her hand in his and intertwining their fingers, smiling at her as he did so. They walked in silence for some minutes before he released her hand to open the door to a little wizard food shop for her. “Now what would you like to eat?”

“Anything is fine, really,” she said, reaching for his hand. He allowed her to take his fingers and warm them against her own. He led her over to the meat section.

“Do you eat dragon?” he asked, showing what appeared to be a rotting piece of steak.

“Ummm…. no. I don’t think I want to eat anything greener than my hair,” she chuckled at her joke. He just raised his eyebrow and continues down the aisle of meet.

“How about hippogriff?” She shook her head. “Kneezle?” She grimaced. He continued until they reached the muggle meats. “Filet mignon?”

“I guess that would be okay. Do you know how to cook it?”

“Yes. Glad youfinafinally decided on something. Even if it is so… muggle,” he said, slipping it into their cart being magically pushed forward so he could hold her hand in his. He gently massaged her thumb with his. She shivered under his delicate touch. “Everything okay?”

“Fine,” she replied. “Can we get broccoli?”

He grimaced upon hearing the name of the vegetable he hated most. “If you wish, my dear.”

“I wish. What else should we get?”

“Do you eat potatoes?”

“Yes. So shall we get some?” They got some potatoes and continued shopping until they had all the ingredients they needed for a gourmet dinner.

Minutes later they were back in Tonks’ house. Tonks sat by the island, watching Severus as he delicately cut and steamed the broccoli. “”How did you become so adept in the kitchen?”

“It comes with the territory of potion making. If you can follow the intricate instructions necessary for potions, you can read a recipe book.” They continued making small talk until it was time for dinner to begin.

“Severus, this is wonderful,” Tonks said as she bit into her filet mignon.

“Thank you,” he answered, reaching for her hand under the table. “There’s something I need to talk to you about. Something for the Order.”

“What’s that, Severus?”

“Dumbledore wishes for you to attend the Death Eater meetings and be marked. He wishes for you to be a spy.”

Tonks sadly put down her fork and knife. “Severus, I simply can’t take on any more responsibilities. I’m overworked down at the Ministry and the guard duty is costing me sleep. I just can’t do anymore,” she sighed.

“But if you don’t that means I have work with… with.. Lupin,” he said viciously.

“I’m sorry about that. Please tell me why you hate him so much. Maybe I can help.”

“He and his friends tortured me as a boy. There was incident after our OWL exams. I’m sorry, maybe one day I’ll tell you, but not tonight.”

“Okay, I understand. Please don’t be mad at me,” she said as she finished her meal.

“I’m not mad… at least not at you. Dumbledore did this on purpose. I assume he’s trying to get us to work together as friends. Well… that is just not going to happen. Ever,” he added bitterly.

“Come on, I’ll clean the dishes later. Let’s go sit in the living room.” She again screwed up her eyes and was dressed in blue again.

“I could never resist a woman in blue,” he said, taking her hand and letting him be led to the living room. As they walked in, she sat down and patted the seat next to her. Her sat next to her and put his arm around her.

“Severus?” He turned to look at her in acknowledgment. “Are you sure you’re not mad?” she asked, putting her face right next to his.

Less than an inch away from her face he answered her seductively. “I could never be mad at you.” He leaned in and gently kissed her. When she didn’t pull away and licked her lips, parting them with his tongue. She let him in and felt his other arm slip around her waist. He gently ran his long fingers up and down her spine. She moved her legs so they were on his lap and he slowly moved his hand around to her button down shirt. He slowly undid the bottom button. Then the next three buttons followed before she stopped him.

“Maybe we shouldn’t. This is only our first date.” He nodded sadly and began to lift her off of him, only to find that she didn’t want to move. “Well I didn’t say that I wanted to stop completely,” she said as she slid off her robes. His tongue gently massaged hers in a series of gentle kisses. He moved his hand down to her stomach and gently rubbed her abdomen. Slowly, very slowly, he lay her down on the couch so he was completely on top of her. He moved his hand to the fourth button and to his surprise she didn’t stop him, but pulled off his robes and shirt.

“Are you sure?” he asked her quietly. She nodded and gave him as if to say, “Yes, but that’s all you’re getting.” He slowly undid all over her buttons and slipped his hand into her bra, gently massaging her. Suddenly he howled in pain and jumped off of her.

“Severus! What is it?”

“It’s the Dark Lord. He is calling me. I’m sorry, but I have to go to him,” he explained, pulling on his shirt and robes. “I had a lovely time,” he said as he approached her, slipping his arm around her waist and giving her a final kiss.
