Chapter four: Assumptions
Chapter four: Assumptions
Amelia had gotten used to being a teacher at Hogwarts. It had been a couple of weeks and she hadn't had any problems. Everyone was pretty much nice, not Severus he was still a little mean, but she had to let it go. At least they were beginning to talk as friends.
Amelia sat in her office correcting work she had received from the students earlier that day. She was about halfway though the pile when there was a knock at her door.
"Who is it?" Amelia asked.
"It's Harry, Ron and Hermione," a male's voice said.
"Oh." Amelia stood from the table and walked over to the door. She hadn't really talked to Ron, Harry and Hermione. She didn't have a problem with the boys but she did with the girl. She didn't seem to take a liking to her. Amelia opened the door and looked at the threesome. "Come in." Amelia stepped aside and they walked in to her office. "Do sit." Amelia pointed to the couch. Ron Harry and Hermione sat down. "So what is it?"
"Are you here to get Harry?" Hermione came right out.
"What?" Amelia was confused.
“Why have you come here to Hogwarts?” Hermione asked. Amelia looked highly confused
"Who are you really?" Ron asked.
"Amelia Riddle." Amelia replied.
“You’ve come to get Harry and take him to you father haven’t you?” Hermione said cruelly.
“No!” Amelia shouted. “How dare you come in here and assume that I would do that!” Ron and Hermione went silent.
"Sorry about them." Harry interrupted.
"It's ok."
"We just want to know if you are on Voldemort's side." Harry came out plain and simple.
"Oh, right." Amelia nodded once. "No I am not."
"Why not?" Hermione asked.
"Ok. I do NOT have to talk to you three, and you three clearly do not have the right to come here and talk to me the way you are.” Amelia raised her voice angrily. “But anyhow, how about I tell you about me. Maybe that will explain to you who I am," Amelia suggested.
"Yes, go ahead."
"Well yes I am the daughter of Voldemort, regrettably. My mother was forced to have me for him. My mother died two years ago because of him. I had never ever spent any time with him at all. I do not care for him at all. He is horrible and I hate him for what he has done to my mother. I do not think that I am likely to be on his side," Amelia informed. Harry, Ron and Hermione stared at her.
"Well that seems clear enough for me." Ron sat back on the couch.
"How can we tell that you are not lying?" Hermione asked.
"Well let see. My grandfather, Professor Dumbledore, sorry, is who I am close to. What ever he wants or thinks is right I will do. He is like my father. And he is protecting you, Harry." Amelia looked at Harry. "I would do anything to help if I could. But I do not think that there is anything that I am able to do."
"You're saying that Dumbledore is your grandfather?" Ron was gob smacked. Amelia nodded.
"Ron we told you that before." Hermione snapped.
"Alright Hermione. Did you tell me?"
"Yes."
"Well there you go."
"What?" Hermione was confused.
"I have taught my brain not to listen to what you say to me so I probably wasn't listening." Ron grinned. Harry and Amelia laughed.
"Ron you are really annoying me now," Hermione sneered.
"And so are you."
"Come on now. I don't want to have a fight in my office."
"They fight all the time." Harry said.
"I know. I watch them fight in class." Amelia walked over to her desk and rested against it.
"I have an idea." Hermione stood up.
"And what is that Hermione?" Amelia wondered.
"I want to see if you are really telling the truth." Hermione left the office. Amelia watched her leave with a frown.
"Um, Professor?" Harry walked up to her.
"Why does she not like me?" Amelia asked.
"Well that's Hermione. She isn't a very nice person." Ron said softly.
"Oh ok."
"Just ignore her."
"Yes, thank you for that suggestion Harry." Amelia chuckled and walked over to her office door. "Come on. I'm going to go somewhere so you can not really stay here."
"Ok." Harry and Ron left Amelia's office.
"I will see you two in class tomorrow." Amelia closed her office door behind her. Harry and Ron walked away. Amelia walked over to Severus' office and knocked on the door.
"Come in Amelia," Severus' angry sly voice said. Amelia opened the door and walked in.
"How did you know it was me?" Amelia pondered.
"I just do." Severus looked up from his work. "What is it?"
"Um." Amelia walked over to his desk and sat down on a chair in front of his desk. "I thought that we might have a little chat."
"Hmm, what about?"
"I don't know." Amelia shrugged. "Anything."
"Well you make up something and I'll see if I want to talk about it."
"Ok then." Amelia sat up. "Hermione Granger, what do you think of her?"
"I think that she is an obnoxious little brat," Severus spat.
"I suppose I was thinking something like that." Amelia ran her hand through her wavy dark red hair. "But she is very good at her work."
"Oh yes she is good, I hate to admit." Severus agreed with disgust. "But she is very, very stuck up." Amelia laughed.
"I know what you think."
"Why did you want to talk about her?"
"She doesn't seem to like me. I haven't done anything wrong have I?" Amelia wondered.
"From what I hear you are the best professor on the face of the earth. I do not think it is you personally. Miss Granger has a way with assuming and finding out things."
"Oh yes. She just came in to my office a little while ago assuming that I was here to get Harry." Amelia chuckled.
"There we go."
"She's gone off somewhere to make sure I'm telling the truth."
"She is going to see your grandfather." Severus mused.
"Does she always run to him?"
"Only when she is not sure for herself." Severus replied.
"Oh ok." Amelia nodded. "You know Severus you are not that bad to talk to."
"Yes, do not get too used to it." Severus smirked.
"Oh I think I could." Amelia grinned.

Hermione sat in Dumbledore's office.
"Professor?"
"Yes Hermione." Dumbledore rested his elbows on his desk.
"It's about Professor Riddle."
"I guess that you do know who her father is." Dumbledore sighed.
"Yes I do, it is pretty hard to dismiss that they both have the same last name." Hermione nodded. "Do you trust her?"
"Of course I do," Dumbledore replied.
"No I mean do you really trust her, not trust her because she is your grand child." Hermione urged.
"Hermione I do trust Amelia with all my heart. She is not one to go off like her father." Dumbledore assured.
"Would you trust her enough to let her in to the Order?"
"As a matter of fact," Dumbledore clapped his hands. "I was just thinking about that. I think that it would be a good idea if she was in the Order."
"So you are serious?" Hermione looked a little baffled.
"Indeed I am. It was nice talking to you, Hermione."
"Yes, you too professor." Hermione stood up and walked out of the office.
