Chapter 4
The night before had indeed been quite amusing for Sibyll, but other than that, she
was not fazed about anything else, but attending her classes, and not enforcing
her authority as prefect. She was busy walking down the halls, along with Agnes
and two of his burly friends, both of whom were girls to their first class, which was
potions, and this class would be held with Slytherins.
She had wished that they hadn't had to take this class with the snakey little
children who leered in the back of the class while the Ravenclaw students, not
including herself, volunteered their heads off with nothing, but correct answers.Yet,
today Sibyll all too concerned with learning about potions,a class that she had
barely made her way to understand during the past few years, and this subject
never seemed to cease.
Also upon the night before,Agnes and Sibyll both agreed, that they would educate
Sibyll on the areas of magic that might actually help her with saving the life of
dear Remus, whom they both decided should not know about his impending death.
"Can anyone tell me what a Antipathy potion is used for?",said the potions proffesor
who stood at the corner of the dank, smelly room, her hair twisted into two tight
buns, and her eyes seemingly examining the back of every single students hand.
She saw about twenty hands all from the front of the room rise, including Sibyll's,but
the teacher took a turn for picking the only other Slytherin in the room who surprisingly
knew the answer,or at least attempted to answer."Mr.Snape."
A surrey of defeat sighs filled the front of the class,as the sulky,greasy-haired boy, whom
Sibyll was a second cousin too, smiled and answered the question simply,"It for hate
Mrs.Hyde.For hate."
"As if we couldn't have guessed that one Severus!",cackled one of the burly girls
that sat beside Agnes, and across from Sibyll's round abandoned table.Though,of
course Agnes soon scorned her as the teacher directed them to partner up and
begin brewing the concoction and then testing it upon one of the "married" gardnen
gnomes she had caged up in tack ack of the class.
Sibyll's eyes probed the class, and saw everyone, except one person partnered up,but
she had no single yearning in her soul to join him,so she rose her hand as if she did
not see the child, and was hoping her teacher wouldn't either."Mrs.Hyde!",she said, the
student's turning around and staring at her.Was Miss Trelawney actually speaking
to someone for a change without predicting their death?
This must have surprised Mrs.Hyde as well, for as she was bent over, scrubbing the grubby
tiled floors, she fell at the sound of the unknown voice, but soon composed herself
and asked,"Yes,Sibyll?",she dusted herself off as she scratched at her cerulean
hair.
"Yes,Mrs.Hyde,I am afraid that there is no one to partner up with.May I join Agnes and
Amelia?",she asked, crossing her fingers underneath the table as she watched Mrs.Hyde
scan the room.A look a defeat reached Sibyll's face as Mrs.Hyde proclaimed that she
join Mr.Snape,who was also alone.
"Severus! Please sit at the table with Sibyll, mmkay?",she asked, and Severus nodded, his
face not showing any emotion about the pairing.Sibyll attempted to smile as he sat
down and faced her across the table with his hands folded.
"Do you properly know how to make this...Anitpathy potion Severus?",Sibyll said, but
Agnes then scorned her,"I mean,Mr.Snape?"
Severus, laughed softly and nodded his head,as he reached over and meekly dragged
the cauldron over across the table to his side."You don't really need any actual
'indgredients' as what you would call them Sibyll for this. Just put as much negative
thoughts into the brew as you can...and then,as you would say,put just one thought
abotu something that you would truly, truly love.Perhaps, one about Sirius?",he laughed.
Sibyll frowned, she had barely realized, that since she had actually arrived at Hogwarts
that she had not even thought about Sirius. Her eyes watered,at her cousin's cruelty,
"You know what...",she then began to whisper,"..Severus? You shall be the person
to make me lock myself away from it all.....",she then smiled as she stared down into
the filthy water that was inside her cauldron.
"Dear Sibyll,I only speak the truth.I only speak the truth.",he then places his
hand into the water after rolling up the sleeves of his robe.Sibyll sees this, and
then places her hand inside as their eyes become locked onto one another's
her mind exchanging putrid thoughts about him into the water as it began
turning black.
"You must really hate me Sibyll.",he said smirking a bit,as his greasy hair
began falling into his face slowly.Sibyll only nodded, her pupil now becoming
larger and larger. She really did hate him, hate was such a strong word, but
this boy was certainly evil to her,but who had made him that way?Sirius, the
boy she loved, and it was only natural that lust would bring her to hate
her own family? Severus then promptly said,"Now! One,just one
single thought about something you love!"
Sibyll searched her mind and with much disdain place the thought of her and
Sirius marrying, and she coudl tell that Snape had felt this, and she could
feel a bit of angst that she did not know what he had added into the potion
himself. She took her hand out,but Severus left his inside,he had not found
his own thought yet."Can you be so heartly my cousin?Could you not
have something to love at all?"
"SHUT UP!",he yelled as he finally jerked his hand from the cauldron, and
Sibyll sat staring at him,and Mrs.Hyde shook her head.Severus stared
about him,and then fidgeted in his seat."Shut up...alright....",he mumbled
his hair completely covering the pandemonium that was built up in his
eyes for Sibyll's sake, because if she saw them, she would have died a little
inside.
After everyone had forgotten about his outburst, they went off to test
their potions on each of their gnome couples, with a pint in his hand
filled with Antipathy,Severus and Sibyll went towards the counters in the back
of the room and handed it over to the gnomes, who quickly exchanged what
they thought was beer, among each other, and within one minute, they
began bickering and with much amusement Severus laughed.Sibyll
smiled, pleased that he seeemed happy, and sorry that she had angered him.
As they stood,she placed a hand on Severus's shoulder,"May I ask what
thought you placed in the cauldron?",she tried her best to look sincere.
"I swear that I will not tell a soul."
He contemplated whether he should tell her or not,as they walked back
over to Sibyll's table and Mrs.Hyde gave them a muggle "Good job!" sticker
to place on each of their hands. Finally, with much regret Severus opened up
to Sibyll,"It was..."
"It was what?"
"A girl.",he said bluntly and then coughing under his breath.
"A girl?Who?",Sibyll was groaning already,if only she could have seen what
wa his his mind, but it his head was to clogged with images of being ridiculed
and hated.
"A first year...."
"A first year? My god Snape, you do like them young...what is her name? What
house is she from?"
"Gryffindor."
"Ah,lovely girls those Lions are....what is her name?",Sibyll asked again.
"Well,she isn't exactly a first year...I lied..."
"So she's older?"
"Yes,a lot older."
"How much older?"
"Ancient, she's olde enough to be my mother's mother."
"Is she a proffessor?"
"Yes..."
Sibyll thought about this,a female proffessor...from Gryffindor....eww.Eww.Eww.
There was only one actual proffessor who confessed herself to Gryffindor. And
that was none other than Minerva McConagall!Sibyll nodded politely, and Severus
gave her that look that confirmed she was correct in her thinkings. That has to be
a lie,that has to be a lie,that has to be a lie.
"You're lying.",she said bluntly as Mrs.Hyde rang out that it was time for the
ending of class.Sibyll began packing her things into her robe.Severus just walked
away calmly."Mr.Snape!!",she said,as everyone began pouring out of the class.
"Would you do me the favor of tutoring me?",the remaining students gasped and
began giggling.Snape glared at her,he new the doltish customs Ravenclaws held
and one was that if someone asked you to tutor them, you better do it.
Severus sighed and nodded grumly,"Fine.Tomorrow.After classes are over near
the fountain.",he said, and with that he would soon drag himself out of class as
Sibyll smirked to herself.Agnes then walked up behind her and asked what all
of that was about.Sheply ply gestured for them alone to begin walking towards
their next class, which was Defense Against the Dark Arts.Another subject
Sibyll wasn't all to keen at going to.
"Well Agnes",she said,as they walked by Sir Nicholas,a nearly decapitated
ghost.Agnes the coughed, and acted as he didn't hear her say his name.Sibyll
took heed, and then corrected herself,"I mean,Mr.Alban, there are two reasons
I asked Mr.Snape to tutor, one because I think that my skills in potions would be
helpful to our current cause, and second because I am indeed a teenage girl,an wou would be pleased to find out exactly who,or what it is that Mr.Snape loves so
much that he placed it into the cauldron!"
Agnes grinned as they sat down a few yards away from their class on a random
bench and Sibyll stood looking very pleased with herself yet again."Miss Trelawney,
you are something else! I have an even better idea! You should ask Mr.Lupin, with
whom we attend Defense Against the Dark Arts with to tutor you, that way you will
grow to know him,and perhaps even learn some excellent defense skills if we must
attack Mrs.Gertrudis."
Sibyll frowned at this and sat down, placing her hands between her knees and shaking
her head,"No,no Mr.Alban. We never spoke about harming Mrs.Gertrudis...now that
I think of it,exactly how are we going to stop her?"
"Miss Trelawney,I'm afraid that we will in fact have to physically harm her in some way.
You must remember that she is the last siren in all of the world. And she isn't going
to be easy to take down.Sorry, but I truly believe that it is the only possible way to save
Mr.Lupin's life.",Agnes rests his hands on Sibyll's shoulder,"Please trust me.I know what
I speak of."
"Alright. We'll just need to put this into more detail later on.Let's get to class.",Sibyll said
as she began sauntering to her class, with Agnes by her side.As she entered,Lily greeted
her with a warm smile, and asked her to sit by her,so Sibyll did, reveling in the days of when
they were best friends in their first year.Yet,it is funny how things change. As she sat
timidly in her seat, her eyes searched the room for Sirius, but in the end,she found no
sight of him.
Oh how her heart ached, she had never had this must stress upon her in five years, and
her she was again, having to save Remus's life for the second time, but this time
her assassin was her best friend, and his best friend her dearest love.Yet,it wasn't as if
Sirius returned her love, and it wasn't as if he knew of that she had any feelings towards
him. Sibyll was two seconds from pulling out a tea cup and reading her leaves,on account
that she was feg a g a bit foggy about her current prediciments. And just then, with the
error of a falcon,Sirius and James, with Remus following closely behind them with Peter
Pettigrew to the side of him, they all took their seats, except for Sirius, who stopped to
chat with a Gryffindor girl with bouncy red hair.
He then walked across Sibyll's table, and waved to Lily, who now had James sitting to
her left as he fawned over her,she seemed oblivious to his crush upon her.Sirius stopped
and completely stared down at Sibyll, and she noticed, her large eyes gushed over his,and
she couldn't help, but begin to blush tremendously.Sirius, smirked at the new girl, well,at least
he thought she waw.Anw.And then, the most wonderful thing happened to Sibyll,Sirius graciously
said,"Hello.",and the walked to sit beside Remus.
Sibyll nearly died a little in the next few seconds, and during the entire class,no matter how hard
she attempted to pay attention, she couldn't help, but gush over the fact that Sirius had finally given
her some attention, and without calling her a preying mantis,or a freak.Mayhis his year will be
better after all,but it couldn't get much better than this.
Though, this is at least what she thought, when there introduction to boggarts ended, and soon
class was being dismissed,Sirius walked over again after Lily and James had departed, and Agnes
was busy braiding a girl's hair,to rest his elbows upon the table in front of Sibyll. She tucked her
tea cup away,so any evidence of her being Sibyll wouldn't show. She then smiled and stood up,
pretending to leave the room.
"Excuse me,Miss, you are in Ravenclaw correct?",he asked walking over to Sibyll and holding
out his hand as Sibyll reached out to shake it.
"Y-yessss....I am."
"Good,so will you be glad to tutor me for this subject?"
"W-why...sssseeh....that'd be quite fine...certainly."
Sirius raised one of his dark eyebrows and smiled, tucking a strand of hair behind his left ear,
"Tremendous! Totally tremendous! Then, tomorrow after the classes near the fountain is fine
for y
"Shhhhh...sure...um...great."
He nodded and then began walking out of the room, but then quickly whipped around and held
a finger in the air,as James began pulling him off by his collar,"What's your name Miss?"
Sibyll's uterus nearly fell out from her and onto the floor when he asked this, she grabbed her
heart and stared nervously at Agnes who was giving her a stern look at just about that time.
She then coughed and, with her sweetest, yet still misty, and a bit deep voice she answer,
"My name is Vonda,Suzette Vonda."
