pondering

Sitting on her bed, Ginny gazed up at the ceiling crusty and cracked. Her parchments sat on the desk unwritten and unthought of. What am I doing? This is an important year for me. I’m not looking at my school work. I daydream iass.ass. I’m kissing Malfoy. I must have lost my mind. Maybe the twins slipped something in my tea that made me become my polar opposite. But still she found reasons to trap herself away in Draco’s quiet room. She would go there under pretense of needing a quiet place to study. For weeks, she’d used that excuse, and for weeks her homework had been lacking. She couldn’t resist the serpent who lurked within. Each day started the same: Ginny entered, Malfoy asked her, “what are you doing here Weasley.” Ginny would pretend to be offended, “I came here looking for a place to study free of ignorance, but apparently I’ve come to the wrong place.” She would turn to leave but would not make it to the door before Draco stopped her with some comeback. They would spar for a bit, but would eventually agree to coexist for the time being within the small confines of the room. Ginny would lay out on the rug with her books spread about. Draco would amuse himself with a Quidditch magazine on the couch until he got antsy and needed other forms of amusement. Then he would set his mind to distracting Ginny by casting things to fall onto her books. It started with paper balls and ended with flowers or snowflakes. Ginny would become frustrated and would slam her books closed. “I can’t study when you’re around.” “Well you’re welcome to leave anytime.” She would gather her books, walk straight to Malfoy, and say “I think I will.” “Poor Ginny can’t study with me here. I must be a true Odonis to distract from the thrill that is potions homework.”
He’s so cocky. How did he get to be so cocky? Thought Ginny as she still gazed at the ceiling in her dormitory room. She gathered her books and decided to look for a quiet place to study.
