CHAPTER 4
It had been a week since Sachiel was announced as Professor Script’s temporary replacement. Unlike his predecessor, Sachiel didn’t sit up in the archives all day looking at old books. He walked around the school, chatted with the other teachers, and — when he thought no one was looking — he gazed longingly at the wide variety of female students. This inspection did not go unnoticed by the girls, even though the teachers themselves never seemed to take notice or even comment on his behavior.
Hermione, Lavender, and Parvati were walking down the hall when they noticed he was leaning up against a wall, with his arms folded and a smirk on his face. He was wearing the same kind of tight-fitting outfit he always did, with his robes hanging over his shoulders undone.
“Is it just me, or does he look at all the girls that way?” asked Lavender.
“All the girls, from what I can see,” replied Hermione.
“I thought I would never say this about a Snape,” said Parvati, “but he’s HOT.”
“Good evening, ladies,” said a deep voice behind them.
Parvati turned bright red when she realized he had heard what she had said. Hermione and Lavender turned around to face him. But Parvati couldn’t bring herself to do so.
“Good evening Mr. Snape,” Hermione said somewhat coldly. Lavender couldn’t quite understand why she would hate the new teacher so soon.
“Why, Hermione, just the person I want to talk to,” he gave her a smoldering look.
“That is MISS GRANGER to you!” Hermione said, not sounding very pleased at all. “So what do you want?”
Parvati finally looked around at her as if she was crazy. Most of the female population wouldn\'t mind talking with this man, let alone being on a first-name basis with him!
“You do not have another class until after lunch, do you?” he asked, matching her coldness.
“No,” was all she said.
“Good. Meet me in my office in twenty minutes. I need to speak with you.” With that, he turned on his heels and walked away.
“Are you crazy!” exclaimed Lavender.
“Yeah, he’s gorgeous! For a Snape, that is,” Parvati said giggling. “Okay, for any man!”
“I think he’s far too full of himself. He’s egotistical, self-centered, and impossible. He reminds me of Draco!” Hermione shot back as she left them standing there with their mouths open. She knew her outward distrust was a mystery to the others.
She couldn’t say, “Well, he pretended to be Severus twice to get me into bed. He almost succeeded on the first try... Why?? Oh, because I thought he WAS Severus…” Oh yeah, right, that would go down well. Some Gryffindor she turned out to be.
She reached the door to Sachiel Snape’s office and knocked.
“Entry,” he called.
‘Entry?’ Hermione thought as she shook her head. He always had to take it one step over his brother, didn’t he? She opened the door to see him leaning back on his chair, as if he was a black panther waiting in the sun for his next victim.
“You want something? And I do hope this is important, I have homework.”
He pointed at a chair, and she sat down.
“Well, I guess I have earned your hostility toward me. After all, I did try to seduce you twice as my brother. But I want you to know me for me, the person I am. Not the person you think I am. I’m not as bad as you may think.”
“No, I have a feeling you’re worse.” She looked at him coldly.
Sachiel stood up and walked in front of her, leaned against his desk, and folded his arms. She noticed he did that a lot, and briefly wondered why.
“Hermione, Hermione, Hermione. How are we ever going to be friends if you keep acting like this?” He gave her another smoldering look. “All I want is to be friends.”
“No, all you want is me in your bed. And I can assure you, MR. SNAPE, that would never happen.”
“Granted, I do want you, Hermione, ever since you sat on my lap, and kissed me with such untamed passion.”
Hermione blushed at not only his words but at the look he gave her.
“Now,” he continued. “Why in the world would you want my boring infernal know-it-all brother?\"
“Maybe because I’m also a boring infernal know-it-all.” She raised her eyebrow at him. “If that is all, I have things to do.” She got up to leave.
“Actually, no, I’m not done,” he told her before she got to the door. “There are a few things I wanted to tell you about Severus.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hermione stormed down the hall, arguing with herself. “The gall! The absolute gall of the man! What does he think this is, a brothel? Does he think that I am something to play with, some child’s toy? I am not a child, and I will be no one’s toy!” She was beyond mad. She was furious, to think the only reason he wanted her in his bed is that he wanted to beat his brother to it... “Oh, yeah, like that will ever happen!” But for Sachiel to say she could pretend he was Severus and then they would both get what they want — oohhhhhHHHHhhhh how she would have loved to deck him right then and there! Instead she just picked up her stuff and stormed out of his office.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sachiel couldn’t figure that girl out. She seemed interested when he told her about their family life or lack thereof. She seemed interested in what he had to say about Severus, and not much of it was good. Could it be more then lust? Could she really care for his brother? NO… he shook his head. There was no way a cute thing like that would ever love his cold-hearted brother. That was definitely out of the question. What kind of life would that bring her? ‘Nothing close to the passion that she holds; she needs a real man… like myself.’
With this thought in mind, he set out to find Hermione. But along the way he ran into Miss Marlow, the young mediwitch who was apprenticing under Madam Pomfrey. He had briefly spoken to her during dinner the night Dumbledore announced him as new archival teacher. He said good evening to her, and she blushed prettily… well, perhaps Miss Granger could wait a bit longer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hermione decided to pay Mr. Snape a visit in the archival room. She needed to know what he meant by some of the things he had told her earlier. She had wanted to say something then, but her anger at him made her forget all her questions.
She heard his voice and noticed it was followed by feminine laughter. She walked up to the door and found it ajar. She peeked in, and there was Sachiel Snape with Miss Marlow, who was half-dressed. Hermione\'s eyes got wide as she backed away from the door, knowing she saw far more then she wanted to.
“See something that you didn’t approve of, Miss Granger?” asked a deep cold voice from behind her. She turned around quickly to see Severus Snape standing there. “Serves you right for peeking in where you are not wanted.” He stormed past her and into the open door.
“Really, Sachiel, if you have to carry on, then please learn to close and lock the door. Wards would have been a good touch. But I see that you are still lacking in tact. So let me say this once. THIS IS A SCHOOL! We have rules. There are children everywhere. Behave accordingly, or I will make your life a living hell.”
“You already do, brother. Now close the door on your way out!”
Hermione tried to slip away as fast as she could before Severus Snape came back out of the room, but she was not fast enough. Professor Snape caught up with her and grabbed her arm, and propelled her toward the dungeon. “I think you and I need a little chat, don’t you, MISS GRANGER!”
