Amici Per Sempre
Ambrosia made her way back to her chambers to drop off her books before heading to lunch. Walking through the halls, she stopped to stare at some of the more interesting paintings that covered the walls, and banners that hung from the high ceilings. Ambrosia came to stop in front of a painting of a beautifully colored snake. The snake was curled up on a log and drearily raised it head to acknowledge her.
"Passsssssssword?"
Ambrosia smiled evilly and said, "Nuits Noire."
The snake hissed a command and the portrait swung open on it's hinges to reveal the Slytherin Common Room in it's full glory. There were a few people scattered around the room, some looked familiar, others did not. Ambrosia locked eyes with the blonde boy that was in her Transfiguration class.
'What did Professor McGonagall call him? Malfoy! That's it, Malfoy.'
Ambrosia nodded to Malfoy and received a curt shake of his head in return. She could see that a small, pixieish looking girl was laying next to him on the couch. She rested her head in his lap, and Malfoy rubbed her back in smooth languid circles. The girl had short, cropped blonde hair and wore a modified uniform like her own. Suddenly, the girl shifted and her right wrist came into view. A stunning silver bracelet with a charm of a serpent came into view. Ambrosia's breath hitched in her throat.
'It can't be! I thought she was going to stay in the States.'
Cautiously, Ambrosia headed towards the couch. She stood in front of Malfoy, whose face had sneer plastered on it, and looked lovingly down at the relaxed form of the girl. Ambrosia bent low and whispered in the girl's ear.
"Il mio serpente bello." Ambrosia stood quickly, knowing what her reaction would be.
The girl sat straight up and looked Ambrosia in the eyes. The beautiful emerald eyes of the blonde started to swell with tears when she reached up to hug Ambrosia.
"There therlla, lla, don't cry. I'm here now. What is going on Ophelia? Why are you at Hogwarts? I thought you were to stay in the States." Ambrosia questioned the girl while Malfoy looked on in pure disbelief.
Ophelia looked up and smiled a weary smile.
"First things first Ambrosia. This is Draco Malfoy, he is my partner. Draco, this is Ambrosia Fiore my best friend and confidant."
Ophelia stood and looked lovingly at Draco. Reaching down to grasp his hand, she whispered, "I must talk to Ambrosia now. I will meet you at dinner tonight, love." Hesitantly, Draco nodded, and Ophelia pressed her lips to his in a lingering kiss. With that, she turned on her heel, took Ambrosia's hand and set off towards the girls' dormitories.
"Come with me, I have a private room." stated Ambrosia as she took the lead and headed towards a painting of a beautiful maiden.
"Good afternoon Lady Breah. How are you today?" asked Ambrosia.
"Oh hello Ambrosia! I am doing quite well, thank you. Who is that with you?" asked Lady Breah.
"This is Ophelia deMonte, she is my best friend. We attended that school in the States together."
Lady Breah took a moment to access Ophelia and then nodded her head to Ambrosia when she continued on.
"My Lady, I wish to let you know that Ophelia is welcome in my rooms at any time, whether she is by herself or with someone else. I will also set my wards to recognize her. I just wanted to let you know." Ambrosia smiled at the maiden, and said, "Now then, Amore Allineare."
"Have a good day Ambrosia." said Lady Breah, and her picture swung on it's hinges to allow the girls to enter the room.
Ambrosia strolled over to the fireplace and with a flick of her wrist had a warm fire going. Ophelia stood planted at the door with her arms crossed.
"What?!" exclaimed Ambrosia.
"Amore Allineare? True Love? I thought you had gotten over that phase Ambro. You know there are no such things as knights on white horses! As much as we've gone through, you very well know that!" hissed Opheila.
"Oh stop it, Ophe! I am sick and tired of having to shift through my memories! I know we went through Hell, but I have tried to put it all behind me. Voldemort is dead. Do I need to say it again? He is fucking dead! He doesn't have control over us anymore, you must have realized that since you are snuggled up with Lucius Malfoy's son!" Ambrosia's voice boomed in the closed quarters and she paced in front of the fire place like a cat seizing up it's prey.
"Ambr.." Ophe started, but Ambrosia stopped her.
"Ya know Ophe, I came home so I could be with my family, my grandmother. Get away from all of those things in Salem that threatened my sanity. I begged you to come with me. Stay at my home, everything. But, you were hellt ont on staying in the States to avoid Lucius until his trial. So, my question is why are you here now when his trial isn't until November, and on top of that obviously dating his son?"
Ambrosia's voice had cd dod down a lot, and she know sat in an overstuff leather chair watching Ophe intently.
Ophelia took a deep breath and began.
"Ambrosia, let me start from the beginning. When Voldemort was defeated this summer I was already here. I was staying with the Potions Master, Snape at his family manor. Dumbledore contacted me and let me know about Lucius Malfoy's plan to capture me as a prize for the Dark Lord. I couldn't live through that a third time, Ambro. I went through i a c a child, and then again with you, and I just couldn't do it again. I set out with Severus and we stayed pretty much secluded at the Manor, except for his godson moving in with us in July."
Ambrosia broke in, "Let me guess, Draco was the godson? Small world really. And this is the same Severus Snape that was a Death Eater, yet spyed for Dumbledore? Please continue on, bella."
Sighing, Ophelia looked at Ambrosia and said, "Yes, Draco is Severus' godson. Severus has been spying since the Dark Lord when crazy. It is one thing to get rid of those filthy mudbloods, but once the Dark Lord started to turn on his on Death Eaters, Severus said it was enough. As for Draco, I got to know him and he is nothing like his father. He took after Severus, who helped raise him more than Lucius did. Draco talked me into coming with him to Hogwarts, and when I made my decision, it was two days before the term. I thought it would be a nice surprise to just show up."
Ophe went over the chair Ambrosia was sitting in and propped herself on the arm. She started to softly play with Ambrosia's hair.
"I've missed you Ophe. I was just thinking about some of the things we've done in Salem. If we would have every got caught," Ambrosia laughed, "well, that would have been are asses." Laughing the girls stood and walked to the door. Ophelia stopped and looked over at Ambrosia. "Ya know, I think I can work on making a new team for us. We can have a secret society here, at Hogwarts."
Ambrosia thought a moment and said, "Hmmm, sounds promising. Perhaps it could be called Fidelius."
Ophe smiled, "I like that! I'll talk to Draco later about it."
Opheila started to walk out of the door when Ambrosia whispered, "Just make sure I get to work with Severus. I think I could do a few things to him that would wipe that scowl off of his face." Ambrosia's eyes were twinkling to no end, and couldn't help but laugh when Ophe's mouth dropped open.
"Oh and Ophe dear, close your mouth, you liable to let a fly in."
Author's Note:
The character Ophelia deMonte is copyrighted to my friend Ash. She is also the one who came up with the group Fidelius.
As for the Italian in thispterpter. I got it all from a online translator, so I do not know how correct it is. The title, "Amici Per Sempre," means Friends Forever. The phrase Ambrosia said to Ophe, "Il mio serpente bello," means 'My Beautiful Snake.' Also, in the story when Ambrosia refers to Ophe as Bella, it just means beautiful in Italian.
The Slytherin Common Room password is French for 'Black Nights.'
