Inevitable
Lucius sat at his desk thinking how lonely it was in his big manor all alone. Draco and Katie had moved into their own home and he was alone. They had just announced that Katie was pregnant. They would live in their home with his grandchild and he would be in the manor all by himself. All alone. Alone. Nobody else there. Just him and the house elves, but they didn’t count. He was alone.
He thought about the cottage that Alabaster and all of her children lived in. He couldn’t believe that she had six children. She was as bad as a Weasley. He would have thought that she was one, but they were of course purebloods. He found himself missing the noise and commotion that constantly went on in her home. He could hear laughter and giggles at all hours of the day and night. He had to admit that she was a great mother and her children loved her.
She was a great woman. She was sexy and brilliant and she had a vipers tongue on her. Oh gods did he love her tongue! Wait! He told himself. Stop thinking about her and her house full of halfblooded brats. Malfoy’s did not spend time thinking of Mudbloods and half-breeds. He smiled when he thought of her smile. It lit up her entire face. She had such beautiful eyes.
“Damn it, Lucius!” he shouted to himself. “Stop thinking about her!”
Draco leaned against the door watching his father fight with himself. He could see already it was a loosing battle. When a witch got under you skin that way, there was no turning back.
“Just go get her,” he said to his father.
Lucius popped his head up and looked at his son. “I don’t know what you are talking about.”
Draco snorted. “Sure you don’t.”
Lucius scowled at him. “What are you doing here?” he demanded.
“I thought I would come and see if you were interested in the sex of your first born grandchild?”
“I take it we will have another Malfoy heir?” he said smiling.
Draco grinned. “If that means you would let my daughter inherit,” he said chuckling. He knew that to his father an heir must be male.
Lucius thought for a moment and smiled. “We haven’t had a female Malfoy born in several generations. I look forward to a granddaughter to spoil.”
Draco was shocked. “Have you been drinking?” he asked.
“What? Why would you ask me that?”
“Just curious. So have you?”
“Go home, Draco.”
“Are you going to go get her?”
“I suppose its inevitable isn’t it?”
Draco grinned. “Definitely. Let me know when the wedding is. I always wanted a little brother or sister. I guess now I will have six.”
Lucius smiled. “Perhaps more if I have my way.”
Raising an eyebrow Draco said, “Don’t you usually?”
Rose Parkinson was on pins and needles. She kept expecting Lucius to storm through the door at any minute. She couldn’t eat, she couldn’t sleep, and she spent every waking moment waiting for Lucius to extract some sort of revenge. She was shocked that he hadn’t yet.
She decided that she couldn’t wait any longer. She would demand that her husband take her to their home in France. There was no reason to stay in England any longer. Pansy had her own life to live and she didn’t need her parents. Her pathetic husband would go along with what ever she demanded. She screamed for a house elf.
“Yes, missus?”
“Immediately pack all of our things. We will be moving as soon as possible to the house in France. I expect everything to be done and sent by tomorrow.”
“Yes, missus.”
Rose then went in search of her husband. She found him in his study reading a book. “We will leave in the morning for the house in France.”
“Why?” he asked in surprise.
“Because that is where I would like to live.”
“Isn’t this a bit sudden?”
“The house elves are packing as we speak. Be ready in the morning!” she demanded and then left the room.
He sat there staring at his wife’s retreating back in wonder. What was she up to this time? He really didn’t care where they lived, as long as she left him alone. The co-existed in the same home but had little to no interaction with each other. He liked it just fine that way.
“I wondered when you would show up. I am surprised that it was so soon.”
“Did you miss me?”
“Like a tooth ache.”
Lucius smiled. “My dear, are you having a bad day?”
“I wasn’t until you showed up.”
“It’s been almost two months. Surely you hadn’t forgotten me in that time?”
Alabaster snorted. “Having you around is like a yeast infection that doesn’t go away. It just keeps burning and burning and the only thing that stops it is a good dose of medicine. Care for some firewhiskey? That usually will make the burning in my head stop.”
Lucius grinned. He loved this woman. “I love you, you know.”
Alabaster felt tears well up in her eyes. “Lucius,”
“Mommy are you sick again?” a soft little girls voice asked.
“Mellie, mommy is just fine. I am crying because I am happy.”
“Are you going to throw up again?”
Lucius looked at the little girl with blond hair and big green eyes. She looked so much like her mother that she made his heart ache. He figured her to be six or seven years old. “When was your mommy throwing up, dear?”
“Every day,” she said twisting her long strands of hair around her finger.
Lucius looked at Alabaster in wonder. “Does that mean what I think it does?”
“Mellie, why don’t you take Hannah and Henry and go play outside?”
The little girl looked from one adult to the other as if judging if it would be prudent to leave them alone again. “Alright,” she said.
“Are you pregnant?” Lucius asked as soon as she left the room.
“I think about sex and I’m pregnant. I dream about a naked man and I have twins! I swear to you, Lucius, I cast a contraceptive spell!” she cried.
“Oh my love! I couldn’t be more pleased!” he exclaimed. “I can’t think of anything in this world that would make me happier than watching you swell with my child,” he said taking her face in his hands and kissing her gently on the lips.
“You’re not angry? I know how you feel about me being Muggle born.”
“Alabaster, I swear this to you on the life of our child. I don’t care that you are Muggle born. I don’t care that this child will not be a pureblood. I don’t care how many other children you have or how many times you have been married. I don’t care about anything but how much I love you and how I can’t stop thinking about you and how if you don’t consent to be my wife I will be miserable without you for the rest of my life!”
“Oh Lucius! I love you so much!”
“So will you marry me?”
“Oh gods yes!”
Lucius pulled her tight against and whispered, “I am the happiest man on this earth.”
