The team had reached the playoffs and it was now the divisional game week. Of course, Draco was still on the bench and the media was still hounding him a bit. He sat down in a big media session this particular day because the coach said it was ok and also, it would help him be more focused if the media atleast had one interview to dissect so he could focus more on the things he needed to focus on. The camera lights and flash clicks would take some extra getting used to, but he knew this was in his future if he was going to lead this team.

"So how has the year gone?" Asked one of them.

"It's been good, I think I have been fortunate to get alot of work done with the first stringers with Matt's elbow issues. I'd be lying if I said I was ok with sitting on the bench." Draco messured his statements as well as he could, he could just imagine ESPN taking his words out of context.

"Do the playoffs mean alot even though you aren't starting in them?"

"Yes, possibly more, because I have to be ready to go just as hard as Matt. You don't want to be the guy that didn't put the work in because you're not playing and then, heaven forbid, the starter goes down and you aren't ready to go in and lead the team just as well as him." Draco eyed the room and picked another nice reporter.

"Do you have a favorite target?"

"Yeah, but I won't tell you, because the media can't keep secrets." He laughed, as did most of the people in the room.

"Are you anxious about preforming for your team?"

"I think you have to be anxious, if you aren't you shouldn't be in the NFL, plus, being the first pick in the draft, especially as a Quarterback, you don't want to be compared to Ryan Leaf or something, so it's always in the back of your mind that you have alot to prove." He pointed to another person.

"Mike Holmgren has one of the most complex offenses in the league, do you think you'd be ready to take something on that takes years to learn normally."

"As I said before, I work alot, now, I'd really need a live game situation, but as far as I know, I can run the offense well enough to get things going." The questions continued for another Ten or so minutes before a team rep bailed him out. He was happy to be out of the press room now, having come in from practice, he was still pretty tired.

He'd been very much involved with the team recently and the stress was a welcome change for him, he often felt like he didn't do anything and he felt the need to prove himself in everything he did, even in practice, which sometimes made the recievers have to catch very hard throws and a few days ago, he had dislocated Lee Scott's ring finger on a 15 yard flare pass. He'd spent the following day apologizing to him as well as hearing anger from Mike Holmgren.

Harry in all this time had been very busy with his work, so they hadn't seen eachother for days at a time, but to say that either of them noticed their time apart would have been a lie, they were both very busy. Tim had finally adjusted to the way things worked with both his gaurdians' careers and mostly kept to himself unless Harry took him to the recording studio when he needed some company. They all had very complicated seperate lives from eachother.

The gameday wasn't the same, the stress was big, here it was a home divisional game and when Draco started to realize where he was and what it meant, it took all his will not to vomit in the tunnel. He slipped back behind the Defensive lineman and caught up to his old buddy Cruz Corona, who noted his sick look.

"You alright man?" The man they called the Brick wall clasped a big hand on his friend's shoulder as Draco franctily noded no. Cruz smiled. "There's a bucket right there, don't fight it, you'll feel better afterward." And so Draco Malfoy, Qaurterback, was now, puking his nerves out to the laughter of several veterans. He wiped his mouth with a convienantly placed towel. Then he made the long walk through the tunnel again, maybe not feeling better, just lighter. He made his way to the sideline and picked up his clipboard and grabbed a headset so he could hear the offense coach lay out the gameplan from practice.

The game went pretty smooth, Matt Moved the ball like they had all year. Darrell Jackson had some big catches and then their new Running back Michael Benson was also moving the ball well. It was well into the third quarter when the worst thing could have happened. Matt took a sack that smacked him in the elbow where he had started having trouble halfway through the season. Draco's eyes were wide, he knew what happend now.

"Troy that looks like a bad injury and Matt Hasselbeck is holding his throwing arm limply as he walks slowly to the sideline."

"Joe at this point the game is out of reach for the Saints at 44-17, but this is a huge hit and you wonder why Hasselbeck is even in there at this point. Now the number one pick in the draft will take the field to run out the clock."

Draco knew this was his job, that didn't mean he had to like it. He didn't throw one single pass they ran the ball for the rest of the game and Draco was angry when he went into the lockeroom until he saw Matt, icing his elbow in the lockeroom and Mike Holmgren's angry look. His expression changed to a more serious look when he caught Draco's eye.

"My office Mister Malfoy." Holmgren said softly, clearly a bit dejected. Draco obidiently followed the 6'4" former QB turned headcoach into his office, where he was sure the news would be bad. Though Draco would never admit it to anyone, he knew he'd get his shot and he was still excited even if the means of getting there weren't ideal.

"You know why you're here." He said to Draco Matter of fact and a bit of bitterness clear in his voice. Draco could only nod. "I expect you to be able to go in and do everything that Matt does, I expect alot, I don't care if you're a rookie or a ten year vet, I want what I want and you better show me that my faith in you is not misplaced." Draco continued to nod.

Over the next few days Draco was purely focused on his Job. He told Harry and Tim the news and that mostly meant that they tried to keep out of his way at home and avoided the subject of his first ever start in the NFL. Harry seemed unable to focus on putting together the treatment for his music video, he kept feeling Draco reaching out to him and he was very torn on what he should do. The feeling didn't go away and eventually Harry didn't fight it. He went to see the one that had him lost in his own life, just to let himself know that Draco would be ok.

"If you don't stop all that work, you're arm will be dead before the game." Harry's frank but soft voice suprised his lover and he stoped his throws to the dummies he'd set up in the backyard. He worked out as much as his body would allow. The weather was cold also and Harry knew he should get Draco inside. The last thing Draco needed was a cough when he'd have to yell out complex calls in a few days and a cough might interupt him.

Draco just stopped and stared into space. Harry was right, but this was the only way Draco knew how to deal with his nerves. He felt Harry's arm slip around his and he allowed himself to be walked into the house. Harry quickily started make some warm soup and was searching for words to cut the tense silence that engulfed them. It wasn't until they had finished their meal and went to the bedroom that Draco said anything to Harry.

"It's really here, Harry." He whispered as Harry undressed them both for bed.

"Yes, it is Drake love." Harry said back trying to work on one of Draco's boots.

"I'm all nerves love, what if I..." And before Draco could finish, Harry's lips softly captured his, they were warm and soft and Draco instantly melted. Once Harry was satisfied he had ended that train of thought, he continued.

"Of course you are, but you'll do fine." Harry smiled as he laid Draco down on the bed softly and then laid on top of him so that their faces could touch. "I'll be right at your side when you walk in the stadium." Draco eyed him and smiled and they kissed and both sighed. Too exhausted for anymore than that. They slept together for the first time in a month, content and warm.

Draco walked the tunnel again and this time, he didn't get sick. It was here, his first chance, a loss meant going home, a win meant the superbowl. Check that, he did feel sick. but it subsided when he buckled his chin strap and walked out to the roars of the crowd. He was ready, he wanted this. A small spot in his heart clenched as he felt the two most important eyes in his life were on him "For you Harry." He whispered as the PA announcer called his name. It was all adernaline from here.
