The Visit

“Daddy!” Lilly shrieked launching herself into Draco’s arms before he was fully on his feet. “I’ve missed you so much!” she cried.

“Oh, Lilly!” Draco whispered pulling her warm body tightly against his chest. He felt tears threatening to spill down his face. She smelled fresh and clean, just as he remembered.

“Lilly!” Siri shrieked throwing himself at his sister. He was elated to see his sister after so long.

“Siri! And Daddy!” she cried wrapping her arms around Siri and Harry.

“How’s my little Princess?” Harry said thickly. He too was overcome with emotion.

“Mr. Malfoy, Harry, we must go to the next location. It will be safer. Please grab hold of this umbrella on the count of three. One, two, Siri, grab hold, three!”

For the second time that day they felt themselves being pulled away. Harry hadn’t even figured out where they had landed the first time, let alone where they were off to now. Several moments later they again landed. Harry, Draco and Arabella Figg landing gracefully and Siri and Lilly landing with a thud and a giggle in a grassy field.

“We shall be safe here,” Arabella said.

Draco looked at the woman and thought she was off her rocker but decided to leave it alone for now. He would talk to Harry about it later when they were again alone to reassure himself that Lilly was well cared for. “Where are we?”

“I can’t tell you. Ghosts can read the knowledge in your mind. This is a safe spot that we may again use someday. If they knew where we were they could enter Lilly.”

Harry looked around at the sunny spot. It was warm, too warm for anywhere around home. Several feet in front of them was a bright blue lake. It was quiet and there was nobody else around for miles. The shore was slightly rocky and the water was calm. There were trees everywhere around the lake, and the spot brought a feeling of tranquility over him. “Its nice here,” he said.

“Yes, this is one of my favorite places to go. When I need a quiet place to think I come here. I actually have a cabin on the other side of the lake that we have stayed at for a long weekend, haven’t we dear?” she asked Lilly.

Lilly grinned and nodded her head. “I got to swim in the water. Its really cold!”

“Can we swim now?” Siri demanded.

“Is it safe?” Draco demanded.

“Of course it is!” Arabella said indignantly. I wouldn’t bring children to an unsafe place!”

“Just be careful,” Draco said giving in.

“So, please, tell us about Lilly,” Harry asked.

“Lilly is a darling girl. She is very bright and wants to please those around her. We may have a slight problem though. Her magical core is strong, very strong. I don’t think that she will be able to live her life pretending to be a squib as I have.”

“So what will we do then?” Draco asked secretly pleased. He didn’t like the idea of a Malfoy being known as a squib.

“I am going to try to push her. If I can teach her all she needs to know, I believe that she should attend Hogwarts. She needs to learn to control her magic and what it can do for her. Her first priority is her duties as a Medium, but if she can learn all she needs to in the next five years, this probably would be the best for her.”

“But then what?” Draco demanded. “How will she be safe there? Hogwarts is full of ghosts. How will she hide who she is? And what about after Hogwarts? How can she keep who she is hidden?”

“Mr. Malfoy, that is the where you come in. She is lucky to have been born into a very wealthy family. She won’t have to do anything.”

Draco looked at her quizzically. “I don’t understand.”

Arabella smiled. “She can live the life of a rich socialite. Her excuse for being gone so much is that she will be traveling the world. Who wouldn’t believe that? As she ages she could play the part of the spinster aunt.”

Harry nodded his head. “That would work,” he said excitedly. He liked the idea of his daughter being close.

“Will Malfoy Manor be safe for her?” Draco asked still uncertain.

“I won’t allow her back to your manor until she can control her powers. By the time I am done with her training, she will be able to block the dead around her. She will have the abilities to ascertain who really needs her and who just wants her. She will know what to do.”

Draco looked at the two children happily splashing knee deep in the water. They had all missed her so much. The thought of her returning earlier than they had anticipated lightened his heart. “Is this possible? Can she learn all that she needs to at an accelerated rate?”

Arabella grinned. “Of course she can! Look who her parents are! She is already ahead of schedule now as it is. She demands knowledge at an alarming rate. She is holding up well and adjusting to her new life without too much difficulty. She uses her memory ball at least once a day and this helps her to keep going. She knows that she is well loved.”

Draco smiled. “How much time will we have today?”

“A couple of hours. Originally I hadn’t even planned on a meeting this soon. She has done so well that she is further with her training that we had anticipated. I would guess that by her birthday she would be ready to see other family members.”

“Another birthday party?” Draco grinned. “That would be fantastic!”

“She still talks about her party. You two made it very special for her.”

Harry grinned. “It was special,” he said rubbing his belly.

“I see that you are both pregnant again. When are you due?” she asked.

“Draco at the end of September, and I will deliver on Halloween.”

“How do you know this?” she asked.

“Siri is a seer. He informed us that twin sons would be born on the anniversary of their grandparents death to replace the bad memories forever with love.”
“All Hallows Eve. It is a special day. All children love Halloween. Halloween originated under the name of Samhain as a Pagan festival among the Celts of Ireland and Great Britain after which Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Halloween is a very popular tradition in America. I guess it is safe to tell you that Lilly and I have been living in America for the past six months. We will move to a new location now though. We never stay in the same spot longer than a month, and we have traveled to several different states while we were there. Lilly loved Oregon. She said it reminded her the most of home.”
Draco and Harry looked stunned. They hadn’t realized that Arabella would take her out of the country. “Siri was born in America,” Harry said dumbly. He just realized that if there was any kind of emergency, there would be absolutely no way of tracking his daughter down. It was a depressing thought.
“I have never been there before,” Draco said. “Father always said that American’s were vulgar and we never went anywhere around them,” he said in shock. He too was stunned that Lilly had been out of the country.

Arabella looked at the two with a smile. “I know that this is hard for you. I again, promise to guard your daughter with my life. She will be safe. She will be learning lots of new things, and at the same time she will be getting an extensive geography lesson. By the time that we are done she will have visited most countries.”
“I am sure she is enjoying herself,” Harry said breaking the silence.
“Don’t get me wrong, Harry. It is not all fun and games. Lilly is working very hard. She doesn’t have much free time to devote to life’s pleasures. Especially now that we have agreed to speed up this process.”
“I hate the idea that she has given up her entire childhood.”
“It is not a coice that us Mediums make. We are born to help others. It is what we do. We have no choice, it is just something that we have to do.”
“If you will excuse me, Mrs. Figg, I would like to spend some time with my children,” Draco said waddling away.
“This is very hard for him. Lilly was all he had for four years. They are very close. He has had a hard time letting go. The new baby coming has made it even harder for him because it brings back memories of his pregnancy with Lilly. He and I were not together when she was born. She was all he had.”
“I understand, Harry. Lilly has spoken of being worried about him. She said that you and Siri would take care of him, but that it would be hardest on Mr. Malfoy. She has fretted many days over if her father was ok.”
Harry grinned. “She always puts others needs before her own.”
“That is the sign of a good Medium.”

Lilly and Siri held hands and raced to the water. Even though it was August, and the day was extremely warm, the water was icy cold. “Its freezing!” Siri shrieked.
“But it feels good at the same time,” Lilly said.
“I have missed you so much, Lilly.”
“And I, you, Siri.” Lilly wrapped her arms around her brother and hugged him tight. She then kicked his legs out from under his and howled with laughter when he went under.
“Hey!” he shouted as he came up sputtering, “I’ll get you!” he said grinning.
“Come catch me, Siri!” she taunted.
Siri dived toward his sister and missed and then tried one more time missing again. “You’re fast!” he said impressed.
“I have learned to anticipate the movement of others, Siri! I’m not really fast, I am just observant.”
“Where have you been?”
“In America.”
“Was it fun?”
“Sometimes. We move all the time. We can’t let the ghosts find us. If you stay in one place to long then they start to realize that you can see them.”
“Why do you care if they know that you can see them?”
“Because if they know that I can see them then they will want me to help them. I am not ready yet. Some of them will want to posess me so that they can make me do their bidding.”
“Like Grandfather?”
“Grandmother told me that Grandfather was bad, but that she didn’t think that he would really hurt me. He would use me to get back at daddy, but he wouldn’t ever hurt me.”
“Daddy said that Grandfather is evil and only thinks of his self.”
“Grandma Lilly said the same thing.”
“Do you see them anymore?”
“No. Not sinse we left the manor. Arabella said that is why we have to keep moving. We can’t let anyone know where we are or they will find us. Even though they don’t want to hurt me, they can carry the knowledge to someone who might want to.”
“What was America like?”
Lilly smiled. “It was different but the same. They talk funny. When we first went there we were on the Pacific coast and they sounded weird. Then we went to the south, and they really sound strange. The last place that we went was the northeast. I think that they sound the most like here, but still different.”
“Did you go to Disneyland? I always wanted to go to Disneyland,” he said wisfully.
“No. Arabella said that there have been too many deaths there. People die from injuries, heat stroke, heart attacks. Their souls stay there. It would not have been safe. She said that someday it would be safe and we would go back.”
“When will you come home to stay?”
“Arabella said that if I work really hard I can be back in time to go to Hogwarts with you.”
Sirius looked at her in shock. “Really?”
“Yes. She said that I would need to learn to control my magic. You were right, I will come home to live in the manor with you. I won’t be able to pretend to be a squib like Arabella. I am too strong.”
Siri grinned. “I know. You are stronger than I am, Lilly.”
“No I’m not!” she denied.
“Yes, you are. You are like Daddy. Even though you look like dad, you are strong like Daddy.”
“But I’m just as strong as your dad!” Draco argued interrupting them.
Both kids grinned. “Its ok, dad, we don’t need to be as strong as them. We have other ways of getting our way, don’t we?” Siri said wit a grin.
Draco smiled back at his son and then laughed. “They’re might be hope for you yet!”
“Are you having a boy or a girl, Daddy?” Lilly asked petting his belly.
“I’m not sure. Your dad wanted to wait and have it be a surprise sinse we knew what he was having.”
Lilly looked sad for a moment. “I won’t even get to see my new brothers or this baby until after everyone else. I don’t know when I will see you again,” she cried.
Draco felt his heart ache. One of the most important moments in their family and she wouldn’t be there to be a part of it. He knew how much it pained her to be gone. “I have an idea. How about if I let you choose the name of this baby?” he asked rubbing his belly.
“Really?” she asked in awe. Just then the baby choose to move and Lilly could see a body part pop up under the skin. “Daddy!” she gasped.
“See, the baby likes the idea of you picking the name also.”
“But I won’t be here when its born to tell you the name!”
“How about you tell Siri, and when the baby is born he can tell us?”
Lilly grinned. “Alright. Go away, Daddy, it has to be a surprise.”
Draco smiled. “I’ll go sit over there.”
“If you sit there, dad, you won’t be able to get up again!” Siri teased, knowing how hard it was getting for his dads to move up and down again.
“I’ll transfigure a branch into a chair, don’t worry.”
“Have you guys picked out names for the twins?” Lilly called as Draco moved away.
“Not yet. Your dad is being picky.”
Lilly grinned. She knew who the real picky one was out of the two of them.
