Not So Bad

Draco walked into the room and sat in a chair across from his wife. She looked up and smiled at him. “Hello,” she said

“How was your day?”

“Great, how was yours?”

“It was interesting. I need to tell you something though,” he said.

Katie looked at her husband with worry. “What is it?” she demanded.

“Felicia and Harry left the country. They don’t plan to return until the babies are born.”

“What?” she exclaimed. “Babies! She’s pregnant! They left the country!”

Draco knew it was a lot to spring on her at one time. He just didn’t feel that he could keep any secrets from her. “They decided that they wanted time to get to know each other before anyone could force them into a situation that they didn’t want.”

“My father is going to kill them!” she exclaimed.

“Not much he can do about it. She’s of age now.”

Katie didn’t not envy the two of them when he caught up with them. “That won’t stop him. He likes to be in control, and Felicia is the baby.”

“Yes, but Harry is the boy who lived and the savior of the Wizarding world. If he can’t hide from an angry father, then nobody can. They won’t return until they are both good and ready to regardless of what anyone else says.”

Katie nodded. She knew that Felicia would be safe. If anyone could protect her baby sister it was Harry. “How did they find out so fast that she was pregnant?”

“You can tell from the moment of conceptions with a spell. They went to St. Mungo’s and had a healer perform the test. Its twin boys, I think he said.”

“Wow! My sister is going to be a mother before I am!” she cried.

“We can go upstairs and work on that if you would like,” he suggested.

Katie laughed. “You don’t know how much I would love to take you up on that offer, but unfortunately, its that time of the month.”

Draco walked over to her and pulled her into his arms. “Then come to bed with me and let me hold you. I just want to be near you,” he whispered as he kissed her neck.

Katie nodded and followed her husband. She was falling more and more in love with Draco as every day that they spent together passed. She hoped that he felt the same way about her. “Draco, can I ask you something?”

“Sure, love, what is it?”

“Do you love me?”

Draco looked startled at his wife. “That came out of left field, didn’t it?”

“Never mind, I shouldn’t have put you on the spot like that,” she said pulling away from him.

“No, baby, wait. I just wasn’t expecting the question. It doesn’t mean that I wasn’t going to answer it.” He pulled her tighter against her and pulled her chin up so that he could look deep into her eyes. “I love you very much, Katie. I never expected to find these feelings with you, but I have. I promise you here and now, that I will spend every day of the rest of my life showing you how much I really love you.”

“Oh Draco!” she cried clutching him closer to her. “I love you too!”

“I know you do. I see it in your eyes when you look at me.”

“Take me to bed, darling. I need you to hold me,” she said.

Smiling, he scooped her up into his arms and carried her down the hall to their room. He spent the rest of the day holding his wife close to her telling her how much he loved her.

Fred and Pansy watched as George kissed Hermione. It was obvious how much in love that they really were. Fred wondered if George had ever told Hermione about the drawing. He decided that he would.

“Hermione, did your husband ever tell you what really happened on the day of the lottery?”

“Fred!” George exclaimed.

“Fred!” his wife also exclaimed. He had told her long ago what had really happened. “It doesn’t matter.” Pansy did not want George to be embarrassed or Hermione to get upset. Pregnant women did strange things.

“What did you do?” Hermione demanded looking at her husband. With George and Fred involved, it could be anything.

“My esteemed brother, George, was so in love with you, Mione!” Fred laughed. “When he drew his number and saw it wasn’t yours, I thought that he was going to die right there on the spot!” Fred said laughing again at his brother’s bright red face. “Of course, he had no idea who he had drawn, he only knew it wasn’t you.”

“I don’t understand,” she said looking at the two brothers.

“I drew your number. I knew that my brother loved you and I knew that I couldn’t spend the rest of my life with my twin brother, my best friend, being in love with my wife. I traded numbers with him.”

“But that’s illegal!” she exclaimed.

Pansy laughed. “Would you rather have had Fred as a husband?”

Hermione looked at the two brothers and tried to suppress a shudder. Fred was definitely not her type.

Everyone saw her shudder and laughed. “I am offended, Hermione! I am much more handsome than my brother!” Fred joked.

“I thank you for your sacrifice, Fred.” Hermione said with a smile.

Fred pulled his wife close to him. “It was no sacrifice to me. I love my beautiful wife. I couldn’t have picked a better match for myself! George did me the favor. No offense, Mione, but you would have bored me silly within hours of the wedding ceremony!”

“No offense, Fred, but I would have killed you within hours of the wedding ceremony.”

The four of them laughed. Hermione looked at her husband and smiled. “So is it true, George? Were you in love with me the day of the lottery?”

“Mione, I have been in love with you for so long that I can’t remember when it started. There has never been anyone for me besides you, and there never will be. You are my sun, my moon, and my stars. You are the very air that I breathe. I don’t want to spend a single day of my life without you. I want to spend the rest of my life making you the happiest witch in the world.”

“Oh George!” she cried. “I love you too!” she said throwing her arms around her husband.

Pansy watched the tears stream down Hermione’s cheeks. “How come you didn’t tell me something like that?” she whispered to her husband.

“I have something better in mind. I found another wizard to join us in bed,” he said with a wink.

“Really?” she exclaimed.

Fred grinned at his wife. “Tonight, my beauty!”

Pansy licked her lips in anticipation. “I can’t wait.”

Luna rubbed her belly and wondered if it would be a girl or a boy. Ron had finally figured out that she was pregnant. She had spent the past several days listening to her father and Ron fight over the name of the child. She had finally put her foot down and informed her father that the baby would have her husband’s name. He was not happy with that decision, but he had never been able to stand up to her when she put her foot down.

She had thought over telling Ron about the love potion and decided that she would come clean and tell him the truth. She hadn’t been giving it to him for the past week and she had noticed a difference in his personality. He was still loving and affectionate, but he didn’t follow her around like a little lost puppy confessing his love to her on a minute-by-minute basis. She had found that she liked him better when he wasn’t.

She looked at her husband who sat across from her reading the paper. He was comparing Quidditch scores and trying to predict who would win the world cup. She had no interest in Quidditch and didn’t know how to talk to him about it. She usually just left him to it alone. She decided that this conversation couldn’t wait any longer.

“Ron, we need to talk.”

Ron looked at his wife above the paper and said, “Can it wait just a second more? I am trying to figure out who is playing tonight.”

“This is important.”

He kept reading the paper. “Yes, dear,” he said distractedly.

“I have done something that I know that you are going to be angry about and I thought that I should tell you.”

“I see,” he said. He wished that she would stop talking. It made it hard to concentrate.

“I put love potion in your drink to make you fall in love with me.”

“I see. Well that’s nice, dear,” he said as he looked and finally found the Cannon’s page. “Oh Luna, the Cannons are playing tomorrow, do you want to go?”

Luna rolled her eyes. “Did you hear what I just said Ron?”

“Sure dear. Its fine with me. What ever you want I am happy with. You know I live to make you happy.” He smiled at her briefly over his paper and then went back to reading.

“Ron!” she shouted.

“What!” he exclaimed putting his paper down finally.

“I just told you that I gave you a love potion to make you fall in love with me!”

“What?” he exclaimed. “What did you do?”

“I wanted you to fall in love with me! I didn’t want to fight anymore so I gave you the potion.”

“When?” he demanded.

“The night in the bar when we ran into each other.”

“What! But that’s not right! You can’t just go around giving people potions! Its illegal! Bloody hell woman! What in Merlin’s name were you thinking?”

Luna burst out into tears. “I just wanted you to love me, Ron! I wanted us to have a happy marriage and love and honor each other!” she cried.

“Don’t you think we would have had it without that potion! I love you! Wait! Are you still giving it to me?” he demanded looking suspiciously at his drink.

“No, I stopped a long time ago! It’s been over a week!” she said.

“A week! It’s only been a week! Bloody hell! I don’t even know what I feel! Actually I do know what I feel! I feel violated! I feel like our marriage is one big lie!”

“But I love you, Ron! I just wanted us to be happy. You and me and our baby!” she said crying.

Ron watched the tears fall down his wife’s face and he felt his heart constrict. He didn’t know how long the effects of the potion lasted, but he knew that right now at this minute he did love his wife. Sure, she was a bit strange, but she was smart and kind and beautiful. He knew that he wanted to be with her for the rest of his life. He stood up and walked to her side of the table. He pulled her into his arms and held her tight.

“Luna, I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to raise this baby and any other babies we may have together. But I promise you this, witch! If you ever give me another potion without my consent, I will hex you into next week and I won’t care what the consequences are. Is this clear to you, wife?”

Luna sniffed and nodded her head. She figured now wasn’t the time to tell him about the obliviate spell. He had actually taken her confession better than he thought she would.
