Wyatt sat beside Harry on the couch in the student lounge at Magic school with his arm around his shoulder, gently rocking him.

“He isn't worth your tears, Harry. Don't let yourself cry over that jerk.”

Giving a sad laugh, Harry said, “I can't help it. I loved him and I thought he loved me too.”

“He doesn't know what he lost by leaving you for that girl.” Wyatt said, looking down at Harry with an odd gleam in his eyes.

“My mind knows that, but tell that to my heart that aches for him.”

“You can do better than him. Someone else loves you so much more than he ever has and ever will.”

“No I'm not. You heard him; I'm unlovable and 'high maintenance'.”

“Asking for a date after two weeks of not going on one isn't high maintenance.” Wyatt said in a tone that wouldn't allow an argument.

“But...”

“No.” Wyatt said, reaching out to cover Harry's mouth with his palm. “It isn't and if I ever see him I'm going to hurt him, badly, for making you believe that.”

“Wyatt...”

“Don't hate me for what I'm about to do.” Wyatt said before he pulled his hand away and kissed Harry gently on the lips.

Exhaling deeply through his nose, Harry brought his hand up to cup Wyatt's cheek. Pulling away after a few seconds, Harry asked, “Why did you kiss me?”

“Because I care about you and I've loved you for a while now. I just didn't want to interfere while you seemed so happy with him.”

Leaning into Wyatt's side, Harry gave a sigh of content when Wyatt pressed a kiss to his head.

“So if I ask you out in a few weeks would you say yes?” Wyatt asked.

“Why wait?”

“Because I want you to take a little while and just get over him and make sure you want this. I love you too much to take advantage of your vulnerability right now.”

Smiling, Harry said, “I promise I'll still say yes then.”

With his own grin, Wyatt stood up and helped Harry up then asked, “So are you ready to go to class now or did you want to just head home?”

“Let's head to class. I won't let him win by making me skip class because he's going to be there.”

Wrapping his arm around Harry's shoulder, Wyatt led him down the hall, ignoring the stares that people sent their way because he didn't care what they thought. All that mattered was making Harry happy and keeping him safe and by his side forever.
