Epilogue

They were wed on a Sunday afternoon in march. Everyone turned out for the event, including Ron and Lavender, who did not stay very long, as Lavender’s water broke before Hermione walked down the aisle. Hermione felt like she was floating on a cloud as she walked towards Severus,.

The reception was held at the vineyard, much to Severus’ dismay, although he seemed to enjoy himself very much nonetheless. The highlight of the evening had to be when Ron returned to the party with Lavender and the baby. Hermione still marveled at how fast wizarding medicine worked. A muggle would have been bed ridden for at least a whole day after giving birth, but Lavender was almost fully healed, and the baby was already completely ready to be taken home.

It was not that they were happy to see the couple with their new baby, no, on the contrary, Hermione felt it was perhaps a bit rude for them to bring the baby to their wedding.

Well she would have, if the baby had been a healthy redheaded little girl. Instead, the baby they looked at had skin the color of caramel and a mop of black curls on her head.

“Look, Ron,” Lavender explained, red faced. “I told you, you were still married to her, and you left me all alone. I went to a bar, and Dean Thomas just happened to be there! It only happened one time, can we please just forget about it?”

“No! No we absolutely cannot forget about it!” Ron said, grabbing her by the arm and leading her through the floo. “We will talk about this at home.”

He turned and gave a smirking Hermione a very apologetic look.

Severus took her in his arms as the next song played.

“Why couldn’t we have just cut out those two and been together from the start?” she asked him.

“Because, Love,” he told her, “it was just the wrong time.”

A/N: Well there you have it. I know it’s short, but I really feel that all the loose ends have been tied up, and there is really just nothing more to say. Please Review!
