CHAPTER 36

It was over the next couple of sectars that Roark, much to the amusement of his brother and Rabastan, found himself completely confined to the Durin Estate of Ravenwood by the three doctors, and two healers in charge of his medical, emotional, and mental health care.

Not that he really minded as much as he had thought he would.  It gave him a chance to get to know his family much better than he already did.  Even the children, whom he had never spent all that much time around.  He now saw why Severus always called his and Dacian's two monsters.

Sasha and Grace, while looking like angels, were born troublemakers, often pulling the other children into their escapades, which often found the whole lot of them grounded.

          Then there was Rodolphus.

Everyone, he realized, ESPECIALLY his medical team, felt that the Inquiry, being told he had been adopted, then learning he was the long lost missing youngest Durin, as well as the fight...which was, unfortunately, still ongoing.  It had since led to him and Harry no longer speaking to their grandfather, to even go so far as to avoid him completely.

They all felt it had put far too much stress and strain on him, and therefore had become a hindrance not only to his healing from the knife wound that had so very nearly taken his life but the miscarriage of the child he had not known he was carrying.

IF he had known he was pregnant, he would have gone about things differently.  Devised a completely different plan to deal with Riddle.

          Maybe.

It was at the end of those two sectars, and after another very thorough exam...and much discussion, that he was finally released for active...if light duty.  He was permitted to do pretty much as he pleased...within certain limits, and those limits were set by Severus and Sebastien on what he could and could not do.

And hard, physical training with Harry, Rabastan, Raphael, and Rodolphus was NOT on the permitted list yet.

They had found THAT out the hard way when...feeling that he had gotten far too much out of shape, had decided he would use one of the three training rooms.  They had been caught mid-session in a hand-to-hand combat scenario that had earned them all the tongue-lashing of their lives.

Even Rodolphus and Rabastan had gone a bit pale when Severus and Sebastien had let them have it when Rabastan had made the mistake of saying, "No one said anything about Roark not being allowed to train."

"Training, Rabastan Lestrange, is one thing.  THIS is not the type of training he is allowed to be doing yet, and I thought that would have been obvious," Severus had snapped back harshly.

"Severus, I need to get back into shape."

He turned his head, his dark obsidian eyes intent.  "Yes, young man that you do, but we told you LIGHT duty, which also means LIGHT training.  No more full-on, hard, and rough training sessions.  Raph, come with me.  We'll come up with a training exercise that you CAN do.  Understood?"

A deep sigh of frustration.  "Fine."
