Chapter Thirty-Six

Scorpius had a lap full of Albus, a warm tongue teasing his own, and he was beginning to get hard. He was feeling pretty good.

Then a slightly hoarse voice asked, “Is this heaven?”

Both boys whipped around.

“Rosie!!!” Scorpius fairly shrieked, detaching Albus, and leaping on the bed and embracing her.

“Watch it, you great oaf! I’ve been in a coma for Merlin’s sake,” she muttered crossly, and he backed off. “So is this heaven?”

“No, you dozy bint! You’re alive and you’re staying that way. Why do you ask?”

“Because I woke up to a live sex show consisting of two gorgeous boys snogging. I figured that’s probably what heaven would be like.”

“Oh, Rosie! I’m so happy! I’m so sorry, too, love.”

Her eyes shifted to Albus who was hovering, waiting for his turn to hug.

“I told him,” Scorpius informed her, getting up so that Albus could hug her.

She blushed. “You didn’t!”

Albus pulled away to look at her. “I don’t know how you did it.”

“God, Albus, I’m so sorry!”

“No, I mean, how did you turn him down? I certainly couldn’t have done it. And neither could a-hundred-and-fifty-odd other people, apparently. What’s your secret?”

She laughed. “It was a close thing there for a few minutes.”

“If he’d taken his shorts off, it would’ve been all over,” Albus joked.

“When you two are through objectifying me,” Scorpius huffed.

“I’m never going to be through with that!” Albus teased, releasing Rose and running his hands over Scorpius’s chest.

“So I wasn’t dreaming? Are you two back together?”

Albus looked at Scorpius with question marks in his eyes. Scorpius wrapped him in his arms, tucking Albus’s head under his chin. “Yeah, we’re back together,” he said, kissing Albus on the head.

She looked a little teary. “I love you both so much!”

They both rushed over and climbed in the narrow bed with her. “You’re flattening me!” she complained, but she was hugging both of them tightly.

“You don’t have to worry about being flat, Rosie,” Scorpius teased, and Albus laughed.

“Oh, great. So we’re all going to joke about this now?”

“We’re a delightfully fucked up family,” Scorpius said, smiling. “So who did this to you? It was Mirabella, wasn’t it? Tell me so I can kill her.”

“Yes, it was. She surprised me in the corridor. But don’t kill her. I’d miss you too much if you had to go to Azkaban.”

“Well, I hope I won’t need to. I told Harry to question her. He and your dad are with her right now, if I’m not mistaken.”

“You won’t need to kill her, then. When my dad and uncle finish with her, she’ll be sorry she was ever born.”

Scorpius finally realized that he should probably let the healers know that Rose was awake, so he went to find someone. When he got back, Ron and Harry were in the room, looking thrilled to see Rose awake, but they were both rather pale.
At the first opportunity, he pulled Harry aside and asked about Mirabella.

“She confessed the whole thing under Veritaserum,” Harry told Scorpius. “And she confessed to a number of other things as well.”

Scorpius ducked his head. “I can imagine some of them.”

“So are you and Albus alright? I mean, your relationship?”

“We broke up for a while. We actually just got back together a few hours ago,” Scorpius admitted.

“What about the wedding?”

Scorpius looked down. “We haven’t discussed whether us being back together means that we’re automatically engaged again.”

“I’m sorry, son.”

“No, it’s okay. We’ll sort it out sooner or later. It’s just, with Rose and everything we haven’t talked about it. But I still want to marry him. Don’t make any plans for August 24th, okay?”

“No, I won’t. Ron and I won’t tell anyone, either. Including Ginny. I don’t want her to worry.”

“Thanks. I think Albus should decide if he wants to tell her. So what happened to Mirabella?”

“Well, unfortunately we heard enough to decide that she needed a mental evaluation. She gleaned the information that she needed for her plot against you and Albus by sleeping with a thirteen-year-old girl, which was rather disturbing to hear. And there was much more that doesn’t matter. But she’s here now, and I think she may end up in the Incurable Ward.”

“I’d rather she ended up in Azkaban.”

“Fortunately Rose is going to be fine, but it means that we can’t charge her with anything Azkaban-worthy. But she’s not going to like spending the best years of her life in a mental ward. Hopefully she can get the help she needs.” He shrugged. “She’s… rather frightening.”

“I know. I can’t believe I didn’t see it before.”

Harry patted him on the shoulder. “Sometimes these things get worse over time. Perhaps something inside her snapped.”

Scorpius nodded. “Do you know when Rose can come back to school?” he asked Harry.

“They want to keep her here overnight, purely for observation. She’ll be back tomorrow. I can take you and Albus back to the school on my way home.”

“That’s fine. Just let us say goodbye to Rosie.”

***********************

Rose was vastly relieved that Mirabella wouldn’t likely reappear at Hogwarts. Scorpius was unsatisfied with the level of punishment, but if she were actually crazy, it was the best solution. At least she couldn’t hurt anyone in the future.

However, Rose did make him feel better when she pointed out that they don’t let mental patients have anything that can be used as a weapon, which would include a mirror. “Imagine her locked away for the rest of her life without being able to gaze at herself,” Rose joked.

Scorpius remembered Mirabella’s disgusting reaction to violence, and thought that maybe a mirror-less existence was a more fitting punishment than the beating he’d been itching to give her.

Soon after, they kissed and hugged Rose, and Harry escorted Albus and Scorpius back to the school. He stayed on a bit to chat with Professor Longbottom, but Albus and Scorpius excused themselves.

Out in the corridor, they looked at each other. “I seem to find myself without a roommate for tonight,” Scorpius said mildly.

Albus blushed anyway. “I’d be glad to have you back.”

“Good.”

They went up to Ravenclaw Tower and packed up Scorpius’s things. Scorpius trailed one finger along the edge of Rose’s bedspread. He was going to miss Rose.

“If you’d rather keep staying here for a while, I’d understand,” Albus said meekly.

But Scorpius knew that the best way to get over his doubts was to get right back on the broom. “No,” Scorpius murmured, pulling Albus close and running his hands up the back of Albus’s shirt. “I want to go with you. I want to come home again.”

***********************

To say that Scorpius was nervous would have been a drastic understatement. He was terrified. He suspected Albus felt the same way, since he barely looked at Scorpius as they removed their clothes and climbed into bed. They lay side-by-side, not touching.

Finally, Scorpius couldn’t take it. “I thought we agreed to get back together today.”

“We did.”

“Well, why are you all the way over there, then?”

Albus gave a small, nervous laugh. “I don’t know.”

“C’mere.” Scorpius reached out and pulled Albus against him. He smoothed Albus’s dark hair back and looked into his eyes. They were shining with love again, and everything seemed right with the world in that moment.

So Scorpius kissed him. And then everything seemed more than right. Their kisses deepened, and soon they were snogging frantically, clinging to each other. There didn’t seem to be time enough for anything. They were practically manic, grinding their cocks together and clutching at each other.

Finally, Albus pulled back a little. “Please, I can’t wait! I want you inside of me. I missed you so much…”

Scorpius was happy to oblige. He climbed on top of Albus, drawing Albus’s knees up. He whispered a lubrication charm, and didn’t waste any time in thrusting inside. Albus made a long whimpering moan that caused Scorpius to shudder.

He tried to go slowly, to prolong the pleasure, but Albus was looking at him in that way that made him insane. To avoid those eyes, he captured Albus’s lips in a breathless kiss, but it was too late.

It had been too long and the closeness, the familiarity, was like coming home. He thrust harder, and Albus pushed up to meet each thrust. Scorpius felt Albus tighten around him, felt him come in between their stomachs and the sensations were just too much.
Scorpius wanted it to last longer, but he couldn’t hold back. He came in Albus, their mouths still fused together, and Albus’s tongue muffled his cry of pleasure.

They stayed like that for a bit, kissing languidly and heatedly. After a while, he rolled off Albus and they lay panting.

“I missed you so much,” Albus whispered.

“Don’t ever leave me again,” Scorpius said softly. “Please.”

“I won’t. Not ever. I can’t live without you.”

“Good, because I can’t live without you, either.”

Despite the words, Scorpius felt slightly hollow inside. He spooned up against Albus’s back and said softly into his ear, “I love you.”

Albus cuddled back against him and said, “I love you, too.”

Scorpius laced their fingers together, and Albus fell asleep, still holding his hand. As he cradled his boyfriend, Scorpius couldn’t shake the uneasiness. They were back together. He was home again. He should have been elated, but something was still off.

This forgiveness thing was going to be harder than he’d thought.
