Daydreams & Time at the Riddle House
Disclaimer -- I own nothing... not even my home... it's all JK Rowling's, who is one of the most creative people I have ever had the privilege to read...
Author's Note -- thank you for your reviews. I need them. For everyone else? A review or two would be nice... if you like it -- or if you hate it... Pride is a strange thing...
it's short -- sorry -- still need it in here.
Daydreams & Time at the Riddle House
Time at the Riddle House was spent tending children, sorting donated items, consulting with counselors, and dealing with everyday emergencies. It was also spent by on blonde wizard daydreaming.
Draco Malfoy, educated at the top European school, married to a sorceress, having earned his Pediatric Medial degree at the prestigious New York University, and completed his Internship at one of the best Pediatric hospitals in the world, spent a majority of his time wishing. He knew it was fruitless to do so, however, anytime a blonde child entered the Emergency Room, he wanted a child of his own.
Knowing that his wife had abandoned him did not help either. She was the only one he wanted that child with. The medi-witches on staff were polite and kept their personal distance from him. Not because he wasn't attractive, but because the first one that had asked him out had been fired on the spot for fraternization.
Still he was the object of many of the staff's daydreams.
For Draco's part, he was much more content to be part of the medical staff than the administration. He left that to Rowan. She was just hard enough to make the staff understand the importance of what they were doing, while understanding that they were only human.
Still Draco daydreamed. Sometime in late September, two little girls were brought through the door from St. Mungo's. There had been a muggle car crash, and even though these children were not magical, the accident had occurred just outside of the hospital. Little choice in the matter of helping or not.
Draco worked long into the night, saving both of the girls with the help of Neville and Luna Longbottom. It was touch and go for a bit until they were stabilized. The surgeries, combined with the potions saved them. From that moment on, Draco's respect of Neville raised dramatically.
Their friendship grew over the course of the next few weeks. Draco spent time with them and their children and became quite adapt at the little things that were not taught at any Medical School. Things like making a bottle, or burping. Or other little things, like changing diapers without magic. He found that he didn't mind learning these things.
And still Draco daydreamed.
Friends from school, trusted friends, were looking the world over for Madison. Draco dreamed of the day that one of them would find her. He would rush in and she would love him again.
At night he dreamed of Madison. She was always skinny and in need of comfort. And she was always traveling. The muggle way sometimes, and others, she apparated from one place to the next. It was never consistent, the locations. After months of this, he realized that she was seeking something. Perhaps when she found it, he could find her... or she would come home to him.
And still Draco daydreamed of small blonde children who called him Papa.
