How the Mighty Have Fallen

Draco drew a lazy finger over the curve of Hermione’s hip before placing his hand on her stomach and pulling her back towards his body in a spooning position. They had been lying on a fur rug in front of the large fireplace in their bedroom, unwinding from a terrific evening of making love and discussing the revelations learned from the Hall of Portraits. Now they were all in contemplative moods, Harry sprawled on the sofa and Hermione and Draco on the rug in front of him, watching the flames crackle before them.

Draco placed a few kisses on Hermione’s neck and said, “So… I’m supposed to marry you.”

Hermione glanced back at him with a grin and said, “Would that be so bad?”

“Not at all,” Draco said, leaning forward to kiss her lips. “In fact, I think I like that idea very much.”

Hermione glanced past Draco to the sofa where Harry was lying and looking at the ceiling. “I want to marry you both,” she said with a frown. “Perhaps we can do a special ceremony, just for us.”

”I think the main issue with multiple person marriages would be the children,” Draco said.

“Why would that be an issue?” Hermione said. “I’m sure you both would be great fathers to whatever children we may have, regardless of who’s the biological father.”

Harry looked at Hermione in alarm, “Hermione? Have you been… you know… taking some sort of precaution? Not that I don’t want children someday, just not now.”

Hermione giggled and said, “We’ve been having sex for two months and you only now think of that?”

“Well… yeah,” Harry admitted with a grin.

“Of course I’ve been doing something,” Hermione said. “I’m not ready to be a mother yet. Certainly not while we’re still in school and there is a war going on.”

Harry breathed a sigh of relief. “I wonder how we’d tell whose baby is whose?” he wondered.

“That’s easy,” Draco said. “The good looking blondes are mine and the scruffy dark haired ones are yours.” This comment earned Draco a hard hit with a pillow on the back of his head.

They grew quiet again for awhile until Hermione said, “So what do you think the significance of the triad is? Do you think there is something we need to do together? Or is it just being together that will give more power?”

“I’m not sure,” Harry answered. “I was thinking of visiting the Hall of Portraits again for more answers. I wonder if there is an actual tunnel or something that leads down to Merlin’s ice prison. I can’t imagine looking at him in person, it sounds so unbelievable.”

“If there is, why hasn’t anyone freed him yet?” Hermione wondered.

“Maybe it’s too dangerous or perhaps impossible to do,” Harry said. “Perhaps some of your ancestors can tell us. If they needed to guard him all these centuries, there must be a good reason why.”

Hermione noticed that Draco was unusually quiet at the moment and she said, “Draco? Are you all right?”

“Yeah,” Draco said in a low voice. “I was just thinking.”

“About what?” Hermione persisted.

“Well, Harry’s a Dark Lord, you’re a Marlston and I… I’m the interchangeable one,” he said. “In this triad that was fated to be, I’m the only one who could be just about anyone.”

“Interchangeable my ass,” Harry said. “If you left the triad, it would cease to exist.”

Draco grunted in disbelief.

“I have never been attracted to guys before, never,” Harry explained. “I’m still not attracted to guys, save one, and that’s you. You’re the only one I want, the only one I’ll ever want, and if you left, then it would be just me and Hermione. So don’t give me this interchangeable crap. You’re the third part of the triad, Draco, make no mistake about it.”

“What if it was supposed to be Weasley, and not me?” Draco mumbled.

“Ron’s a good friend, but I don’t want to shag him,” Harry said.

“And I don’t either,” Hermione added.

“But you did at one time,” Draco reminded her.

“I thought I did,” Hermione admitted. “He seemed attracted to me and that was flattering. But when we actually tried to take things more physical, my body just didn’t respond to him.”

Draco pulled her onto her back and slid his hand down, covering her sex with his palm and wiggling his fingers in her wet folds. “Well, you certainly seem to be a very responsive person,” he grinned.

“Only for the two of you,” she whispered as his lips descended down on hers.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Lucius Malfoy and Severus Snape apparated just outside of Marlston Village, taking in the surroundings with distaste. Snape had been here before, long ago, when Lord Voldemort dwelt with Morgana and Sebastian Marlston. The village was in much better condition than it stood now.

They began walking the icy road towards the village, looking about for any dangers. “Do not take out your wand, Lucius,” Snape said. “They will not take kindly to any threats.”

Inside a tiny home, Meri sat in her rocker, smoking a pipe and gazing at her fire. Her eyes softened in a meditative trance and her rocking came to halt. Just then her front door swung open and a swarthy man stood just inside the frame. “Did you send for me, Meri?” he said.

“Yes, Remy,” Meri said, with another puff of her pipe. “Two men approach the village. They wear the mark of the deceiver.” Meri didn’t have to turn around and gaze at Remy’s face to know that he was filled with loathing.

She heard her door slam shut and the sound of Remy calling to his mates filled her ears. She cackled softly to herself and whispered, “Let it begin.”

“Where exactly are we headed?” Lucius said quietly to Snape as they entered the village proper and were quickly the object of attention. The villagers came out of their homes and businesses to glare at the newcomers, taking in their expensive attire with disgust.

“The Black Dragon Inn,” Snape answered. “Do not stop walking,” he added.

They made their way through the crowd, trying to keep their faces impassive. “What do you notice about their hands, Lucius?” Snape asked quietly.

“Everyone has one hand wrapped,” Lucius observed. “What does it mean?”

“It means Potter has become more dangerous than you know,” Snape answered.

A burly man stepped out in front of them, with his hands on his hips, stopping the two stately wizards in their tracks. Lucius was itching to pull his wand out, but he knew that it would cause more trouble than being helpless would. “Just where do you think you’re going?” the burly man asked.

“We’re on our way to the inn,” Snape answered.

“No, you’re not,” the man said.

Snape and Lucius were hit from behind with a slew of stunning spells and fell to the cold ground, unable to move, as the burly man stood over them. He bent down and pulled up Lucius’s sleeve, exposing the Dark Mark. “Servant of the deceiver,” the man spat on him.

He did the same with Snape, leaving a trail of saliva running down the wizard’s cheek.

Meri came shuffling through the crowd and looked down on their still forms. “Impale them on the road. The deceiver will see what we shall do to any of his servants he sends to Marlston.”

The villagers were rousted to action, dragging the two helpless wizards on the snow covered ground, back towards the road where they had first entered. They were kicked and spit upon, then finally stripped bare as they were tossed aside to await their final fate.

Logs were being sharpened to a point and ropes were tossed over a tree branch above in order to hoist the wizards onto the top of the pointy spears. Lucius was beginning to get feeling back into his limbs. He moved his head around and saw Snape lying not too far from him. “Severus,” he rasped out. Snape had not regained his ability to speak yet and so Lucius tried to get the attention of the nearest villager. “Please… we must see Harry Potter,” Lucius managed to say.

The villager smirked at him and said, “Lord Potter wouldn’t bother with the likes of you.”

Ropes were tied under their arms and they were about to be hoisted onto the poles when a woman’s voice was heard yelling, “Wait! Wait!” Belinda was running as fast as age allowed her and she came to a stop, panting with her hand over her chest. “They’re expected!” She took a few more gulps of air and continued, “Lord Potter sent me a message. These two are expected!”

“But they bear the Mark of the deceiver,” a man said in disbelief.

“I know,” Belinda said, gulping more air. “But Lord Potter wants these two up at the manor.”

Remy looked at Lucius and Snape, who clearly were looking relieved. Then he looked at the men with him and said, “Take off the ropes and give them back their clothing. The wands we’re keeping for now.” Then he looked down at the two wizards and said, “You’re going to wish we did impale you once Lord Potter has you at his mercy.” The villagers turned and walked away, except for Belinda who waited patiently while Lucius and Snape got dressed in humiliated silence.

Then Snape walked up to her and said, “Madam, that was quite a welcome.”

“I apologize for that, sirs,” Belinda said. “I’m the innkeeper of the Black Dragon Inn. Follow me, we’ll get you warmed up by the fire and something to drink as well.”

The two wizards were seething inside at the treatment they had received. Snape wondered if Potter was laughing at this little joke right now. Why would he only inform this one woman of their arrival? He was definitely going to get an earful about this!

“Brilliant advice you had there, Severus,” Lucius snapped at him as they began following Belinda back through town. No one crowded around them any longer but they still received hateful glares. “Do not take out your wand,” Lucius mimicked.

“It wouldn’t have mattered any way,” Snape snapped back. “We were vastly outnumbered.”

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Harry received an owl that evening from Belinda telling him that Lucius Malfoy and Severus Snape had arrived in the village and were staying at the inn as was the procedure. She also wrote of the incident that had almost happened and Harry couldn’t help but laugh at thought of it.

“What’s so funny?” Hermione asked. She was cuddled up with Draco on the sofa and watching Kitty play with her new toys that they had given her for Christmas. Draco was nuzzling Hermione’s neck and Hermione had her hand on his cock atop his trousers, rubbing it to achy hardness. The buzz of Kitty’s vibrator sounded in the background as Harry brought the letter to Hermione and Draco to read.

They both read it at the same time and Hermione gasped, putting her hand over her mouth, while Draco laughed as Harry did.

“That’s not funny,” Hermione scolded. “Professor Snape is going to be very angry with us!”

“Good thing he won’t be able to do anything about it then,” Harry smirked. He got on the sofa and put his head on Draco’s lap, biting playfully at Draco’s hard cock that Hermione had teased to its present state. Draco groaned as his eyes darkened with lust, wanting very much what Harry was offering with his mouth.

Hermione was still upset, however, and said, “It must have been very frightening for them.”

Harry looked up at her from Draco’s lap and said, “And how many people do you think they’ve frightened before?”

Just then Kitty moaned in pleasure as she orgasmed for them, the magic dildo pumping in her and her vibrator humming on her clit. Harry turned and glanced at Kitty and added, “Besides, maybe Kitty can help soothe his hurt feelings.”

“Only if Kitty wants to,” Hermione said. “I won’t have Kitty doing anything she doesn’t want to.” Kitty turned her head and smiled at Hermione and Hermione smiled back. “You want to kiss me again, Kitty?” she invited.

“Meow,” Kitty said, crawling over to the sofa and rising on her knees to kiss Hermione. Hermione found that she really did enjoy kissing Kitty and as long as the boys didn’t mind she wanted to continue doing it.

Draco didn’t know what was turning him on more: watching Hermione and Kitty together or having Harry’s mouth on his cock. He leaned his head back and groaned with pleasure as Harry had now freed his straining member from its cloth prison and surrounded it with the warmth of his mouth.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Bugger knew it would be a busy night. He knew the ‘guests’ were not trusted ones and he knew he might have an important task to carry out tonight. He climbed down the dungeon stairs, far below Marlston, and waited for his instructions. Those That Dwell Below would speak to him soon, he knew it. When the orders finally came, Bugger smiled with delight, the goblin side of him taking control. He opened a wooden hatch in the floor and leapt in.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Lucius was having a restless night. Strange dreams and a lumpy bed were disturbing him and waking him at various times of the night. He turned to his side and opened his eyes when he noticed two glowing orbs staring back at him in the dark of the room. Before he speak or move, a heavy object came down on his head, knocking him into unconsciousness.

The half goblin laughed at the shocked look on Lucius’s face when he had hit him. He grabbed the wizard’s things and snapped his fingers. The wizard was pulled off the bed and onto the floor with a thump. Bugger magically dragged Lucius behind him, whistling to himself in glee. It had been a long time since he brought someone to Marlston in this way and he missed it.

Lucius’s head thumped down the stairs as his body followed Bugger. Belinda had woken at the noise Bugger was making and popped her head out from her bedroom door. “I had a feeling they would go that way,” she said. “What about the other one?”

“The carriage will be coming for him in the morning,” Bugger said.

Belinda looked surprised. Ah well, it was not for her to decide. She shut her bedroom door and went back to bed.

Bugger had rolled the carpet back, exposing a wooden hatch in the inn floor. He pulled it open by its heavy iron ring and threw Lucius’s bag down into a waiting row boat. He shoved the wizard’s body down next and listened to the sound of it hitting the boat before he leapt down as well, magically closing the hatch and rolling the rug back over.

Whistling again, Bugger enchanted the oars to begin rowing the boat on the underground river that eventually led to a hidden entrance deep under the manor house. In front of the boat, a torch floated above, giving enough light for Bugger to observe Lucius. He wondered what this man did to earn his mistress’s dislike. She had a good heart, his new mistress. Bugger knew that Lucius Malfoy must have done something very bad to have her feel this way about him. That was how Those Who Dwell Below judged others. If Lady Marlston disliked someone, then they would too.

When Lucius groggily moved his head and tried to open his eyes, he felt pain pulsing on his skull where someone had struck him. In the torchlight he could now make out the figure of the half-goblin staring at him. Before he could say a word, the creature whacked him over the head once again. “Sorry about that,” Bugger said to the unconscious body. “But we can’t have you seeing things you shouldn’t now, can we?”

When they reached the underground dock, Bugger tied the boat to a post and levitated Lucius and his belongings in the air and to the secret entrance. He brought him into the dungeons and chained him to the wall with iron wrist cuffs. Lucius’s head lolled forward and his chin rested on his chest. “Sweet dreams,” laughed Bugger. He whistled his way back up the stairs to the heart of the manor house and went happily to bed.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Snape came downstairs and spotted Belinda setting the table for breakfast. She looked up at him and said, “Good morning. Will you be having something to eat?”

Snape glanced out the window and saw the black carriage that he remembered from so long ago. “No, I wish to leave immediately,” he said. “Where is Mr. Malfoy? He was not in his room.”

“I believe he’s already at the manor, sir,” Belinda answered.

Snape looked at her in consternation. Had the carriage come earlier and taken Lucius before him? It must have. Leaving without him was a very unwise thing for Lucius to do. “Very well,” he answered. “Have your house elves fetch my luggage.”

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

At breakfast, Bugger stood in the doorway until he was noticed and said, “Mistress, masters, Mr. Lucius Malfoy is here in the dungeons. What would you like me to do with him?”

“In the dungeons?” Hermione said in surprise. “What is he doing there?”

“I put him there, mistress,” Bugger answered. “He’s not to be trusted.”

Draco looked at Harry and Hermione in shock. His father certainly would not be happy about being treated that way.

“Bugger,” Hermione said. “You will fetch Mr. Malfoy immediately and bring him to the parlor. He will be offered tea and something to eat.”

Bugger looked disappointed. “Yes, mistress,” he said. “They told me that you didn’t like him, mistress. They said he did bad things to people you love.”

“Regardless of how I feel, I will not have someone treated that way,” Hermione said.

“Yes, mistress,” Bugger said. “I’ll fetch him.”

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The grand front doors of Marlston opened on their own as Severus Snape strode towards them from the carriage. Just inside stood the strangest house elf Snape had ever laid eyes on. Snape looked at him and said, “I wish to see your masters and your mistress.”

Bugger bowed and said, “Follow me.” Snape followed Bugger until they reached a large, luxurious parlor. There sat Lucius holding a cup of tea, a plate of biscuits sat untouched before him. “Have a seat, sir,” Bugger said. “The Lords and Lady will be with you shortly.”

Snape walked towards the sitting area. Lucius glanced at him from the side of his eye, noting how Snape did not look as disheveled as he was. Severus looked at Lucius’s torn robes and dirty face. Never had he seen this man look so pitiful. He sat down across from Lucius and his eyes fell upon a woman dressed very skimpily and lying on a large round cushion of some sort. “What has been going on around here?” Snape inquired.

“I take it that you haven’t been hit over the head and dragged here? Did you see the inside of the dungeon yet?” Lucius sneered.

“No,” Snape said. “I arrived by carriage.”

Lucius made a small grunt of disgust. He saw Snape look over to the woman in the corner and he said, “Don’t ask me about her, she won’t speak.”

“Still think you’ve made the right decision, Lucius?” Snape asked knowingly.

“I expected some sort of punishment, Severus,” Lucius said. When Snape looked amused, Lucius added, “I’m glad you’re enjoying my suffering, old friend. But we’ll see who has the last laugh.”

The sound of a throat clearing disturbed the silence and both men looked towards the entrance of the parlor. Draco stood there leaning against the door frame with his arms crossed casually in front of him. “Good morning, gentlemen,” Draco said. “I hope you’ve been enjoying your time in Marlston thus far,” he smirked.

He pushed himself upright and strode confidently into the room, looking every inch the Lord of the manor. “Professor,” he said, giving Snape a nod of greeting. Then he looked towards his father who was eyeing him carefully. “Father,” he said, giving his father a nod as well and allowing his gaze to linger on his father’s appearance. “Lady Marlston is most aggrieved at the manner in which you were brought here. But there are some things at Marlston that are beyond control.”

Lucius looked at his son. Inside he felt pleased that Draco seemed to be doing so well. He wondered, however, if his son would ever forgive him or trust him again. He had been harsh with him because he had to, especially when Lucius felt he had no other option.

“I understand, Draco,” Lucius said. “I did not expect a warm welcome.”

Draco had not expected his father to be so calm about it. He thought that Lucius would be seething with anger. These gentle words threw the younger Malfoy off. He stood staring at his father, his eyebrows furled in confusion.

“You look well, son,” Lucius commented. “I see that your mother has been worried about you for nothing.”

“I sent her a Christmas gift!” Draco blurted out, as emotions began churning through his gut. This was not what he wanted! He wanted to show his father just how much better off he was now. He wanted to rub it in his face about how wrong he was. He expected a verbal battle with his father. But Lucius was not behaving as he should! Draco took a deep breath and tried to calm his emotions. He didn’t want to lose his composure in front of his father. It was not how he imagined their meeting to be.

“She was happy to receive it,” Lucius said.

Draco looked at Snape who was watching the exchange between father and son with interest. He decided to avoid discussing these things with his father at the moment so he turned his attention to the professor.

“Why did you bring him?” Draco demanded, his cool demeanor gone.

“He asked me to bring him,” Snape replied. “Your family is in danger, Draco. And I would not enjoy seeing you or your mother harmed.”

“Where is my mother? Did you just leave her alone?” Draco snapped.

“She is safe at Hogwarts for now,” Snape answered coolly. “I’m not enjoying the tone of voice you’re using with me. You will address me with respect. I am still your professor even though we are away from school.”

“Oh, I think that’s debatable,” a voice said from the doorway.

They all turned to see Harry standing there, glaring at Snape.

Snape couldn’t help the anger that bubbled up in his chest when Harry walked into the room. He stood from the sofa and glared back at the impertinent boy. “Potter! I must say Dumbledore will be most disappointed to learn that you have been involving yourself in blood rituals and encouraging fanatic behavior in the villagers of Marlston. It’s about time Dumbledore saw what you’re really made of.”

Harry took a step into the room and Snape had to hide his surprise at the aura of power surrounding the boy. He wondered if perhaps he should have been more diplomatic with his words.

“Sit down,” Harry ordered with a wave of his hand. Snape flew backwards onto the sofa with a rough thump. He looked at Harry in shock. Potter had definitely been affected by his stay here.

Harry strode further into the room looking from Snape to Lucius and then back to Snape again. Lucius looked slightly amused at what Harry did, but Snape’s face was furious.

“How dare you!” Snape growled.

“Let’s discuss YOUR tone of voice, shall we?” Harry said. “Marlston is not Hogwarts, nor will it ever be. It is the lair of dark wizards and the center of great power. There are forces here beyond your imagining that respect only the chosen ones. If you don’t show the proper respect to us, they will punish you. Do you understand?”

Snape said nothing, but continued to glare at Harry. He knew there were strange secrets at Marlston and though he didn’t know what these secrets were, he felt that Potter was telling him the truth. He gave Harry the slightest nod.

Harry glanced at Draco, who was looking at him lustfully. He knew that Draco was turned on whenever Harry made a show of strength. Harry stepped up next to him and ran his hand up Draco’s back, over his spine, making the blonde shiver in anticipation.

Lucius and Snape were taken off guard by this and could do nothing but watch as Harry’s hand reached Draco’s hair and roughly pulled him over for a kiss. The boys’ tongues tangled in each other’s mouths and Harry glanced over at the two men to see their reactions. Snape didn’t seem that surprised, but Lucius wore a thoughtful expression.

When they finished their long kiss, the two boys grinned at each other. Then Draco turned to his father and said, “Surprised, Father?”

Lucius shook his head slightly and said, “That you two are lovers? Nothing surprises me anymore, Draco. You’re not the first Malfoy to attract the attention of a Potter.”

“What do you mean by that?” Harry demanded.

“It is just a bit of history, my… Lord,” Lucius said. It felt strange to call Potter his Lord, but he knew that he’d better get used to it fast. Harry’s eyebrow ticked at Lucius’s words. Who’d have ever thought Lucius Malfoy would be calling him ‘my Lord?’

“Explain,” Harry persisted.

“It was long ago, my Lord,” Lucius said. “We were a few years younger than the two of you. James and I…”

“Liar!” Harry roared.

Draco put an arm around Harry to calm him and said, “Harry, just listen to him.”

Harry didn’t say a word but continued glaring at Lucius. Lucius took this as a sign that he should continue, cautiously.

“It was the first relationship for either of us,” Lucius said. “It was short lived, lasting only a few months. I became attracted to… someone else. Your father was unhappy about the break up. He didn’t know who I was seeing in secret and it drove him mad with anger. One day he saw me talking to Severus and assumed that it was him I was seeing.”

“I never!” Snape said in shock.

Lucius looked at Snape with an amused grin and said, “Yes, I know, Severus. You’ve never explored that side of your nature. Pity, really. As I was saying, James assumed it was Severus and that’s when he began harassing him.”

“What!?” Snape exclaimed. “That is why he plagued me all those years? Because he thought I was having relations with you?”

Lucius smiled, enjoying the rare opportunity to shock the stoic man. “Yes, at first I suppose. Then James became infatuated with Lily Evans. By then, however, tormenting you had become a habit.”

“You knew he thought these things, yet you did not tell him otherwise?” Snape snapped angrily at Lucius.

“Well, it was convenient for me to have him believe it was you,” Lucius said. “It stopped him from finding out the truth.”

“And who, pray tell, were you really seeing?” Snape seethed.

“I don’t wish to discuss that with you,” Lucius said, leaving Snape stewing with anger.

Draco looked over at Harry’s face and asked, “Harry? You all right?”

Harry looked at him and said, “Yeah, I’m fine. I guess it’s no big deal, right? I mean, I’m in a relationship with a guy too.” Draco shrugged and nodded.

Then Harry turned to Lucius and asked, “Why would my father pick you to be with?”

Lucius wanted to say, ‘Why did you pick Draco?’, but he felt it would seem too impertinent to do so and he was determined to show Potter his respect. So he said, “James was a pure blood, my Lord. All the pure blood children attended many of the same social functions and parties. It was only when the … other… Dark Lord gained power that the pure blood families began to choose sides and separate themselves from one another.”

Harry thought about this for a moment and tried to imagine all the wizarding families living in harmony. Voldemort had truly stepped in and fucked up a lot of things.

It was during this quiet lull of contemplation when Hermione walked into the room.

“You!” Lucius said in surprise. “What are YOU doing here?”
