Shadows


“So, did you have fun last night?” Adrian asked and shoved ice cream into his mouth.


It was a surprisingly warm day, now that it was the middle of october and Harry and his friend had decided to have the last ice cream of the season. Diagon Alley was busy today but they had retreated to the ice cream parlour and enjoyed the last rays of sun on their faces.


Blushing just a tiny bit Harry nodded.


“The room was cool, it could stage up fantasies,” he said.


“Ah, that room,” Adrian smiled. “Any news about those two Death Eaters on the run? They have to find them eventually.”


Harry sighed. “No not yet. Have you ever heard of Hillfalls?”


Adrian looked up from his ice cream. “No who is that?”


“Not who, what,” Harry growled good naturedly. “It is a small town and Hayden mentioned it yesterday.”


Smirking Adrian shrugged his shoulders.


“I was hard and so did not really pay attention. But no, never heard of it.”


Harry was silent for a moment his eyes unfocused.


“I am almost one hundred percent sure Lucius and Bellatrix are there and if Tobias Snape is still alive, he is with them.”


Adrian's blue eyes shone with concern.


“But you told me you promised-”


“Yes I know- I will not go there on my own.” Harry exhaled forcefully. “But Severus is suffering, I can see it. And I cannot sit back and do nothing! That goes against everything I believe in.”


“He threatened to end your relationship if you ever go there on your own.”


“That is the only reason why I am still here,” Harry muttered miserably.


Finishing his bowl and leaning back Adrian sighed.


“And you better stay Harry because if I know anything about Severus Snape is that he does not make such threats lightly.”


Staring out of the window Harry nodded.


“I know.”


When Harry apparated back to their house he was deep in thoughts but suddenly he felt the wards prickle on his skin. Drawing his wand he carefully opened the door, sneaking inside. The living room was dark, as was the rest of the house. It was eerily quiet and his blood was the only thing rushing in him head screaming for him to leave.


The only light in the room came from the golden object that he had researched so many weeks ago, the globes where spinning around the pole and glowing in a greenish light. Hearing a noise from the bedroom, he straightened his shoulders and crept to the half way open door making out a light from inside. Peeking inside he found it empty when a surge of magic threw him to the ground, knocking him out for a moment.


When he opened his eyes he searched in the darkness for his wand but it was gone and he felt a humourless chuckle from the window. Snapping his eyes to that position he saw the blurry outlines of a body, floating about a metre above the carpet.


“Ah, Harry Potter,” he snarled. “You may stop searching for your wand, my trusted ally has it.”


Scrambling to his feet, Harry stared at the figure making out his black hair and crooked nose.


“You are Tobias Snape,” he said.


“Sadly I am only a shadow of who I was, thanks to my beloved son.”


“Where is Severus?” Harry asked panic setting in.


“That is what I want to know from you.” He floated over and his black eyes sparkled with hatred, so unlike Severus'. “Where is my excuse for a son?”


Harry shrugged. “I don't know.”


“Then I have to take you instead,” Tobias Snape said with cruelty in his voice. “Maybe that is a much better punishment for him than anything else I could do.”


Harry felt a sharp wand being pressed into his back.


“Potter baby,” Bellatrix said and then everything went black.
