Epilogue

Author's Note: Before I write this epilogue, I want to take a moment to thank each and every person who had reviewed and read my story. This story wouldn't be the success it is without you. (And it certainly wouldn't have gotten finished were it not for your interest.)

I want to give a short, special thanks to Damania for sending me the link to that site. I really appreciate it.

You are all just great!

If you're at all interested, I have another story that has been written. It's a Dramione love story called Heart and Soul. I'm going to post it here, though I have it posted on FF.net, MediaMiner, and HPFF.com. So, just look me up and you'll see it. (Seriously, if you Google Heart and Soul TassanaBurrfoot, you will easily find my story.) Key note, however: if you haven't read the last two books, you might not want to read my story.

Anyhoo, I think that is all for now. Again, thank you all for reading my story and for reviewing it. I look forward to writing more material on here.

And now, for the epilogue...

Epilogue

Exactly Two Years Later...

Hermione stared at her reflection in the mirror. She couldn't believe it was today! She was finally going to marry the man she loved. Everything was perfect.

Her long white veil fell dramatically over her shoulders. Her dress was simple, but at the same time elegant. It was white silk and had one shoulder that was accented with flowers and beads. It was form-fitting and curve-hugging and had a flared floor length skirt. She didn't know if she was getting married or attending a Grecian ball.

Not that it mattered. She was getting married. She grabbed her white silk shawl and wrapped it around her bare arms.

"Hermione, are you ready, dear?" her father called out to her from the door.

She took a deep breath as her mind played through the last two years. Everything happened in a blur. They had managed to finally defeat Voldemort, with the help of the Malfoys and Snape. She and Draco had been named Head Girl and Boy and had graduated at the top of their class.

Seamus had finally asked Parvarti to marry him and Ron was marrying Luna next month. Harry and Ginny were going to marry after Ginny graduated this current year. They had planned a summer wedding which would take place at the beginning of July.

"I'm ready, Daddy," she announced as she turned to look at him.

Her father smiled. "You look beautiful, my princess," he told her as he approached her and laid a kiss on her forehead. "Just like a goddess."

She returned his smile. "Actually, a goddess is supposed to visit today. Eros and Psyche said they were coming."

"Eros? As in the Greek god of love?" he questioned, looking skeptical.

Hermione nodded. "I know it sounds silly, but... Well, it's true. They are going to be there."

The man didn't question his daughter further, knowing it would be futile. Instead, he took her by the hand and led her to the hall.

She was still amazed by everything within the Manor. She was getting married in Malfoy Manor, curtesy of Lucius and Narcissa. As she and her father stepped into the manor's great hall, she held her breath. It was beautiful.

The hall was lined with rows of chairs, each filled with a body. It seemed everyone had turned up for what had been called "The Wedding of the Century." Even some of her teachers were present, including McGonagall, Snape, Flitwick, Sprout, and Dumbledore. She saw Eros and Psyche and smiled at them.

As they progressed down the aisle, Hermione's golden eyes fell upon silver ones and there they stayed. It didn't take long for them to reach him. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Harry winking at her, but she did not look. She had eyes for only one person.

She heard her father tell Draco to take care of her, but she really didn't pay attention to much else. The wedding ceremony was a blur to be halted only when they moved to exchange rings.

Draco slipped the delicate white gold band over Hermione's ring finger and smiled. "Since the moment I first saw you, I have loved you, though I denied it for five years. You mean everything to me, Hermione. Not a day goes by that I am not reminded by how much I love you. You are my world, the very air I breathe. I found myself when I found you. I thank the gods everyday for granting me the gift of getting to know you, as a person, a lover, and a dear friend. And, believe it or not, I thank Aphrodite for bestowing that spell upon you. Without it, I might never have had the courage to approach you like I did. I look forward to spending an eternity with you. With this ring, I thee wed."

Tears fell freely from Hermione's eyes. She did not bother to check them and actually had to take a moment before she trusted her voice enough to speak. "The first time I met you, I hated you. You were cocky, arrogant, and concieted. You were the epitamy of upper class snobbery," her voice cracked and she took a breath. "But, then I got to know you for who you truly are. I got to meet this wonderful person and see beyond the icy exterior. I found myself falling in love with a man who should have been my enemy. I do not regret it. You have taught me more than any book could ever teach me. I love you, Draco Malfoy. I cannot wait to start my life with you. With this ring, I thee wed."

She slipped a white gold band on his finger and the ceremony commenced. No one answered the call for objections and soon, the priest was announcing the new Mr. and Mrs. Draco Malfoy. "You may kiss your bride," the priest said, and Draco did.

They met with everyone in the ballroom. Lucius and Narcissa both gave their congratulations to the young couple as did Mr. and Mrs. Granger. Harry warned Draco about hurting his sister, which Ginny and Ron both reiterated.

But, it was Severus who had halted Hermione from her merriment. She approached the Potions Master with a soft, sad smile. "Are you okay?" she asked him.

He looked at her curiously. "Why wouldn't I be, Miss Granger?"

She touched his shoulder. "Two years ago, you gave me advice which, even to this day, I hold dear. Now, it is my turn to give you advice, Professor," she told him. "It is better to have loved and loss, then to never have loved at all. She's here, Severus. She's with you no matter where you go or what you do."

She pulled out a picture of a beautiful, laughing woman with red hair and green eyes. She pressed the picture to his chest, right where his heart resided. "She is in your heart, and will always be. You have the power to keep her memory alive. She will always be with you, so long as you do not forget her. At the same token, do not be afraid to move on. It's what she would want."

He took the picture from her hand and glanced down at it. "I thank you for your sentiment, Miss Granger, but I assure you it is unnecessary," he told her. "It has been a long time since she has been gone, but I am doing well. Whether or not I will move on is still set to be seen. Do not worry over me. I will be fine."

Though she did not believe him, she did not press the issue. She gave him a kiss on the cheek and left him to his thoughts.

Draco pulled her into his arms and onto the dance floor. "We have to give the first dance, Mrs. Malfoy," he pointed out, his trademark smirk plastered on his face.

She laughed merrily. "But, of course. Tell me, Mr. Malfoy, are you happy?" she asked.

He took a moment and feigned thinking about the question. He laughed at her mockingly offended expression. "Exhilarated," he responded.

That's not the beginning of the end

That's the return to yourself

The return to innocence

Love - Devotion

Feeling - Emotion

Love - Devotion

Feeling - Emotion

Don't be afraid to be weak

Don't be too proud to be strong

Just look into your heart my friend

That will be the return to yourself

The return to innocence

If you want, then start to laugh

If you must, then start to cry

Be yourself don't hide

Just believe in destiny

Don't care what people say

Just follow your own way

Don't give up and use the chance

To return to innocence

That's not the beginning of the end

That's the return to yourself

The return to innocence

Don't care what people say

Follow just your own way

Follow just your own way

Don't give up, don't give up

To return, to return to innocence.

If you want then laugh

If you must then cry

Be yourself don't hide

Just believe in destiny.
