PEACE BETRAYED--ANNIHILATION
CHAPTER 33
He woke a short time later to the soft rumble of voices. "Feel better?" came his murmur, lips brushing over his forehead.
"Um..." he stretched slowly, resettling against his side, "a bit. The Alpha blocker is working, I'm not feeling overwhelmed any longer. What are you all talking about?"
"What we need to do next. There's so much to do, but with us stuck in these damned beds--"
"Oh for KOBOL'S sake, Gabriel. You're making it sound like it's forever, instead of a few days." Sebastien growled, his eyes narrowed on him.
Roark gave a soft groan. "Piece, my beloved family," he said as he looked at them from where he lay. "There are more than enough people to make do until you are all cleared to return to full active duty. Admiral Maxwell, Admiral Jenkins, Admiral Malfoy, Grandfather, and Colonel Tigh, have things well in hand right now."
"Refugee ships?"
"Still arriving from the Colonies, and it looks like the Cylons are going to give us just enough time to get done what needs to be done, and us on the move before they return, though not intentionally. They've had to return to Cylon to refuel."
"But what about the Solaria and the Acropolis?" Christopher asked from his bed, a frown curving his brow. "You said they were both badly damaged."
"And so they are," he answered with a smile at him. "Taken care of. Grandfather has ordered the Galactica's Technical Team to the Solaria, and those of your team that weren't injured are on the Acropolis as we speak."
"FUCK! You, my husband, are a--" Rodolphus began, only to be cut off by his lips on his. "Rory--" he grumbled.
"No need to rub it in, darling, I know what a mess I'm in. AGAIN. The moment Baltar took my hand on the Atlantia, everything began to come apart, then, as I watched out Star Fleet, then the Colonies being decimated, I began to spiral with no real way to stop it."
"Which is why you will be remaining here," Ethan said as the rest of the family began to arrive in the Life Center to check up on those who were injured. "With that Alpha blocker in place, you'll be able to start building more solid shields. In your current condition, that's going to take some time for you to do. Until further notice, you are officially on medical leave until I clear you. Understood?"
"Umm...not going to argue this time," Roark murmured as he settled his head back on Rodolphus' cheat, listening to his calming heartbeat, "I was figuring on either you or Severus grounding me, and while I may not LIKE it, or be pleased about it," he grumbled. "I realize it's a necessity. I'm no good to anyone like I am right now, and you can't keep giving me those blockers."
"No you aren't, and no, we can't," Robin told him, moving to his side. "You, Roark Lestrange, are going to get lots of rest," he picked up a syringe with a light blue liquid in it, "so you can repair those broken shields."
"I made a promise to a little girl named Tatiana Rosier to find her parents."
"I remember, and I have Bill and Charlie working on that as we speak," he said as he gave him the shot, then a frowning Rodolphus. "Yes, yes, I know, but do shut up and take it anyway."
"Fine," he grumbled.
"And we want a list of everyone we've lost," Thorin growled from the bed he lay in, Bilbo at his side.
"We are already working on that as well, Uncle Thorin," Desmond told him, "but that one is going to take some time. Of the family, we've lost Alysia, Lucian, Grayson, Christian, Kalista, and Acadia. We also lost Robin's two sisters, Adriane and Olympia. We will get the full list to you in a couple of sectons."
Thorin opened his mouth, only to have Bilbo swat at his shoulder in irritation. "Enough husband," he growled at him warningly. "Stop fighting the sedative and go to sleep. There will be time enough to sort things out."
Thorin heaved a deep sigh. "Very well. Alexei, please inform Adama we would like a report when we wake up."
"I will," he said. "Rest now, Uncle."
Rest they did, many of them now wondering what the future held for not just them, but the survivors of their race.
