Suprises and Madame Rosmerta's
“Mmmm. Just because you’ve snogged me senseless doesn’t mean I’m any less angry with you for leaving. You’re nowhere near strong enough to be running around the snowy countryside.” Ginny snuggled closer against Draco’s side, cuddled as they were under quilts, watching the snow fall. “I really need to check your wounds.”
“Ginny.” His chest rumbled. “I’m fine.”
“Maybe so, but I’ll see for myself.” She sneaked her hands under his cloak and delved under his shirt to peel away the bandages. After a quick inventory, she only found two that had bled again. The rest seemed to be starting to heal, but still angry looking. She rebandaged them with brisk efficiency.
Draco growled low and grabbed her questing hands, pulling her against him. “I think you’ve been sufficiently assured of my health.”
He licked the seam of her lips and then sealed her mouth, kissing her with a burning intensity that she had thought was sated for the time being. It had taken a great deal of willpower to stop themselves before completing the mating. She knew all of Draco’s instincts were screaming for him to finish it, but somehow, he had managed to stop.
Ginny pulled her lips away. “Wait. “ She demanded. “Just why did you leave? What was so important? Huhh???” She poked him in his chest where he wasn’t injured.
Instantly, a slight flush suffused his face. Intrigued at the unusual reaction, she pressed him. “Well?” When he didn’t answer but just mumbled something under his breath that sounded suspiciously like “none of your business”, she socked him in the arm.
“Draco Augustus Malfoy, you did not just say that to me!” Pissed now, she slipped her hand in his cloak, digging around to find the item he had stashed away there.
“Ginny!” Draco grabbed her hand and they struggled for a moment.
“Just show me! I saw you hide it! Are you going to be hiding things from me all the time now? Is that it?”
“Fine!” He roared and yanked a small box out. Pulling her to her feet, he knelt down on one knee. Flipping open the box, he held it out to her. A beautiful ring, silver, with a striking emerald in the center surrounded by sparkling diamonds was nestled inside.
She gasped in awe. It was breathtaking.
“I couldn’t marry you without a ring.” His voice gentled. “It belonged to my great-grandmother on the Black side.”
Ginny stared at the almost shy expression on his face. It was so incongruous. Draco Malfoy was arrogant and obnoxious and completely sure in everything he did. Her heart squeezed painfully and she sniffed back tears that threatened to escape. Somehow, knowing that it was an heirloom rather than just some big gaudy diamond he’d spent a fortune on, made it all the more special.
“Well, witch? I’m not going to stay here all day!” He commanded, some of his usual arrogance returning.
Ginny scowled. “Don’t rush me Malfoy! I was relishing the sight of you on your knees. Somehow I don’t think it’s a sight I’ll see too often.” She grumbled.
“Damn straight.”
Ginny couldn’t help but laugh at his obvious irritation and snagged the box from his hands, throwing her arms around his neck and practically tackled him under the force of her kiss.
Draco growled in obvious arousal, and crushed her against him as he fell to his back on the soft blankets Ginny had conjured earlier. Heat and sparks shot through their veins, like molten lava and lightning. They both gasped and Draco flipped them over so Ginny was pinned underneath him.
He dropped his heavy weight onto her and concentrated on kissing the life from her. He plunged his tongue deeply into her mouth, licking and sucking. She met his with hers and they dueled for dominance.
Finally, pulling away, Draco bit her neck, and shivered at her squeal. Then he tenderly laved the spot with his tongue and Ginny shuddered at the hot rough texture. She felt like she was about to go over the edge and pulled his head back up to hers. Locked together, they flew away, shuddering helplessly as explosions rocked them.
Sitting around a table at Madame Rosmerta’s, the assembled group of Slytherins tossed back glasses of FireWhiskey as they listened to Simeon’s version of the past days events.
At first, they were all serious and rather shellshocked at the twist of Simeon’s parentage and the revelation that Draco was a veela. Not to mention his run in with Lucius and a werewolf. There was a great deal of concern for their friend and comrade.
“But the bastard is finally dead?” Gregory rumbled. All eyes turned towards him. Though he was much more talkative and considerably more intelligent than anyone thought, Greg was still a man of few words. When he did venture to speak, it was usually something of significance or something that would take people by surprise.
He’d grown out of his baby fat and now looked like…a large hulking bear perhaps, but not a lump. He was huge and solid. Not necessarily handsome, but he attracted his fair share of witches.
Simeon nodded shortly. “Dead as a doornail. We all checked to be sure and then the Aurors took the body away.” He tossed back another gulp of FireWhiskey. “One rogue Deatheater down, how many more to go?”
“Eleven.” Blaise said automatically. Silence descended as they all contemplated the past and everything that was making up the future.
“I can’t believe Snape and Narcissa had a thing.” Marcus said finally.
“Yeah, bloody weird, if you ask me.” Blaise said.
“Not so weird. It was there if you’d paid attention.” Millie said. “Whenever her name was mentioned, you could see his jaw tense and I saw them at Diagon Alley one time and his eyes burned when he looked at her.”
Millie was perhaps one of the most soft-spoken, even gentle Slytherins their house had seen. But she could still be as sneaky and manipulative as any of her fellow school mates. All the males stared at her.
“You read that much into Snape?” Blaise said incredulously. “You must be far more observant than we are!” He sounded awed and rather jealous. They’d all had to hone their observation skills for survival as much as anything else. “Did any of you mates see that?”
The men all shook their heads no.
Millie smiled slyly. “Well, I am a woman after all. I wouldn’t be too hard on yourselves.”
Loud raucous laughter ensued, proving that the alcohol was having the desired effect. The drinks kept coming and the group got more and more loose and smashed. After a couple drunken rousing rounds of song, by Marcus and Blaise, and they had collapsed back into their chairs, Marcus slurred out,
“Who was that luscious little bundle at the table this afternoon?” He grinned lasciviously. “I’d like to get my hands on THOSE curves.”
He smoothed his hands in the air in that age old “feminine” shape. It was abruptly cut off when he was grabbed by the collar and slammed back down in his chair.
“What the hell is wrong with you Simeon!” Marcus knocked the other man’s hands away, angrily.
“Just keep your mouth shut about her.” The ice in Simeon’s voice froze the conversation around them. Everyone stared.
“You panting after her, Black?” Blaise laughed incredulously.
“Shut up.” His voice was low and dangerous.
“Aww. Is poor wittle Simeon in LOVE?” Marcus started howling. “With that little handful? I thought you went for the tall blondes.”
“I am not ‘in love’.” He gritted. “I don’t even like her. She’s a pain in my ass and right now she’s on my shit list. But that doesn’t mean that I’m going to let you act talk about her like she’s a piece of meat, anymore than I would any other woman.”
He rubbed the back of his neck. “Besides, she’s Ginny’s friend and from what I’ve heard, Draco’s mate has got a vengeful streak. So, really, I’m just trying to look out for you mate.” He sneered eerily like Severus.
“Why the hell could we not figure out that you were Snape’s offspring? Marcus retorted in awe as he stared at the embodiment of their Potion’s Master. “Merlin! You look just like him when you get all snarky.”
The group all seemed to agree on that point.
“Did she go to Hogwarts?” Greg asked, breaking the silence. “I don’t remember her.”
“Yeah, Hufflepuff I think.” Simeon muttered.
Everybody groaned. “You’re joking!” Blaise exclaimed. “Merlin, what a waste! A Hufflepuff!”
“I’m beginning to think the Sorting Hat misplaced her.” Simeon grunted. “The damn woman flew through a snowstorm with Narcissa to follow us when we went after Ginny.” He scowled darkly. “She probably should have been in Gryffindor. She’s too foolish and reckless by half.”
“I still think you’re a little protective of her, Simeon. That seems a little more than dislike to me!”
Marcus shut up at Simeon’s death glare.
“Ginny.” His chest rumbled. “I’m fine.”
