"With the first pick in the NFL Draft the Seattle Seahawks select, Draco Malfoy, Fresno State." The cheers were loud and the flash bulbs blinding. When he declared himself for the draft, Draco never really prepared for this day. The front office man for Seattle was there, but most everything was a blur as he held up his jersey to the cameras, giving his sore eyes a break from the flashes.
"Thank God that's over." Draco said to the Seattle agent. "Ok Mister Malfoy, everything is in your court. The team rep is at your disposal. Will you be in the Seattle Area by June for the mini camp?" Draco nodded, he felt rushed and a tad lost. "Sir, what do I do for an agent and so forth?" The man turned to him and smiled. "Don't worry, the team rep Lofa Tatupu will be able to help you with your needs." He seemed to rush off and vanish, Draco knew he wasn't their only draft choice for the day and he began to understand why the agent was in such a hurry.
When he finally got all the things he needed. He got a few calls at his table, which his mom, who was doubling as his attorney fielded. "Sweetie, it's the seattle times." He took the cell phone from her. "Hello?" The woman on the other end sounded quite eager. "This is Andrea Reid with the Seattle PI, I would like to have an interview, do you have a moment." Draco rolled his eyes at his mom who was grinning broadly. "Sure." He said calm and cool. "Great. So how does it feel to be drafted by the Seahawks?" He thought a bit. "Well, it's not a suprise, they told me that's what they were going to do so...I can say this, I am happy to stay on the west coast so I can stay close to my Mother." He smiled. So did his mother.
"Do you know seattle?" Draco thought a moment. "Yeah, they have great coaches there and I always wanted to go to a place that they wouldn't need me right away. They have a good QB in Matt Hasselbeck who's taken them to the big games and such and I just hope I can come in and put the franchise on my back when my time comes" The reporter gave indications that she followed his logic. "Do all Quarterbacks look to have a franchise on their back in the NFL." Draco coughed. "Scuse me, Yeah, I think anyone that plays the postion knows that it's the be all and end all of the games, I hope to make my mark at this position and I couldn't pick a better act to follow than Hasselbeck."
He said goodbye and went about making a list of all the things he'd need to get done. First was contacting the team and making arrangements to meet. Next he'd need to hire an agent, this would be tough so Draco's Mom, being an exec of a major company was looking for an agent that would be her son's protector in his future bussiness dealings.
He called Harry and told him that he would pick him up from home and bring him to Seattle. Harry was excited that Draco seemed so upbeat, the death of his dad had healed some. The future looked good. Harry was packing up some clothes when Tim came into the room.
"Where are you going?" He asked simply. "Draco got drafted to seattle." Tim nodded and looked around the room as he came in. "So you guys are leaving me here all alone." Harry turned to him and smiled. "No, we won't leave you alone. Come here." He pulled the boy into a hug. "Dude, gross." Harry chuckled at the objections.
So it was here. The pro-football league. Draco was going to be a star and Harry would join him. He called his dad and left a message saying he was leaving. Sirius and James had started a bussiness together selling cars and motorcycles, so they weren't in touch much anymore and Harry missed that. Draco showed up about seven hours later after being in New York and talking to media all day and catching a flight back to California was tough. He was exhausted, but still excited and so he decided not to wait and leave in the morning. He had called Harry to book a red eye flight to seattle so he could get into the swing of things.
The flight was quiet and both boys got some sleep, but Draco woke several times, just hoping that this would hurry up. "Damn you Harry." He chuckled to himself as he noted the ease with which Harry was able to sleep. As the plane landed Draco was woken after finally falling asleep for about 20 minutes. He looked around as Harry gathered up the luguage and they both stepped off the plane side by side.
"Look at this place, it's beautiful." Harry remarked. Draco nodded and then said, "Hopefully it will be home for the rest of our lives." Harry took that in, and though he sort of felt a twinge of worry, he certainly liked the city from what he could see. The skiline was lit by the lights of the big skyscrapers, it was 3am but it was still alive with some activity. Draco noted the space needle as they rode by it.
They got settled into a hotel that Draco's mom reccomended. It was small and warm, Draco of course got two rooms with Queen beds, one would never be used. Harry yawned hard as he unpacked, Draco hugged him from behind. "I love you so much." Harry melted into his love's chest. "Drake, I love you too." After a few moments they both went to sleep.
Harry was stuck in the hotel as Draco started getting things ready to go. He decided to watch TV and he saw ESPN. They were talking about Draco, and he couldn't believe it. He stared at the television in awe as his boyfriend held up the Seahawks jersey as a sportscaster talked in the background. "Draco Malfoy probably wasn't a number one pick. I think the seahawks blew it here." Harry got mad. "What do you know?" He growled at the TV.
Draco met up with Lofa Tatupu in the front of the seahawks offices in Kirkland. He was just excited to get everything rolling. Draco noted that the All-Pro Middle linebacker looked small. He was really amazed that a guy this size went to the pro bowl every year. "So what do you need to get done?" Lofa said while bringing him into the building and finding a couple of chairs to sit in.
"I need a place to stay, advice on where the best place to live is. Also, I need an agent." Lofa nodded. "I can help you with all of that stuff. Have you eaten?" Draco shook his head. "No, but I'm not very hungry." The linebacker smiled wide. "I know what you mean. It'll pass soon." Draco returned his grin. After a few calls Lofa told Draco that he had an agent in mind. She came in confident, filled out in what looked like dress uniforms. "This is Dyanna Corona, she's the best in the bussiness at getting people what they want." The woman smiled. Her hair was glued to her head which made Draco laugh, because he used to wear his hair like that. He extended his hand and shook hers. "Why don't you come by my office later you two, we'll see if a deal can get set."
She walked away and Lofa looked over at Draco. "She's a good lady, you should really look into it." Draco didn't respond. "Oh, also, I have an apartment that I own off Olive way. I'm been looking to sell it. If you want we can go look at..." Lofa stopped and motioned to someone behind Draco. "Matt, Yo, Matt." The quarterback looked around and came over to where they were sitting. "This is number one." Draco flushed in embarressment. "Hey, how's it goin'?" Matt extended his hand, Draco took it Shakily. He knew this was the guy he was replacing, so it was really awkward as they sat there.
Matt grinned. "So, are you ready for all this." Draco spoke softly. "To tell the truth I am not at all sure." Lofa and Matt both laughed a bit. "Well, I'll see you around. I have a Quarterbacks dinner at my place in a few weeks, you're welcome to come. Draco nodded. "Ok." Lofa said suddenly, "let's go get you a living space."
Harry was fuming, all over TV they were dogging Draco and really bashing him. Harry wanted to kill some people. The more he watched, the madder he got. Draco finally returned and had no idea why Harry was so upset. "What's wrong?" Draco asked simply, he could tell by Harry's face that he was vey upset. "The people on TV were bashing y..." Draco pulled him into a hug and laughed. "Harry don't do that. This is what happens now...you just have to let it go. He kissed Harry's forehead, "Come on, I have a place for us." Harry looked suprised. "Already?" Draco smiled, "Yeah and I think you'll love it."
Draco never imagined at 21 that he'd feel so old, but all the life changing he'd been through just made him feel like his best days were behind him. Harry was on the otherside, he felt out of place. He didn't know how well he fit into Draco's life anymore. He still loved him, but the question about it working out had crept in. As they pulled up to the Apartment building Harry seemed to notice it looked very exclusive. Draco and Harry walked up stairs and came to an apartment door 2D. Draco pulled some keys out and unlocked the door and entered. Harry followed slowly, eyes wide, it was beautiful. Hardwood floors and not really anything enclosed except the bedroom. There was a large livingroom window that you could look out and see much of the city of seattle.
After a breif tour, a bathroom with a sauna bath, and shower, all of which Harry made notes of Harry asked a question that was on his mind since the moment he walked in. "Draco, are you in the mood?" Harry grinned evily. Draco grinned back, but innocently said. "Ummmm, why?" Harry grabbed him around the neck and pulled him close, "Because I am." Harry pulled out a pair of handcuffs. "Remember these?" Draco grinned wildly. The two lovers began to passionately kiss and Draco picked Harry up in his arms and moved to the bedroom.
A/N I am sure the story is 20 or more chapters left. The next few chapters will be hard to write as I may look like I am jumping around to fast, please bear with me as writting the chaos and love in this story has become an intresting burden that makes me want to just stop and sometimes never stop at the same time.
As their lives continue on seperate major paths the story becomes about the struggle to keep it together rather than innocent romance. As Harry Persues a music Career and Draco is forced into the closet by his, the fireworks of conflict explode. Until next time fans.
