Chapter 28: Neville’s Letter

   “Where is that
stupid quill at?” Hermione snapped, shuffling through her things in vain
attempt to find it.

Ten minutes later she finally found
it and started to write out her essay for Advance Potions. Her husband wanted a
sample of a Quickening Solution and an essay to go along with it. She muttered
darkly and got to work. Several hours later she finished it and sent it off
with one of the school owls that Dumbledore had provided.

            Remus
returned home after his short meeting with Dumbledore, which had included what
he planned on teaching once term began. When he entered he could smell the
smell of baking and cooking. Every since Lily moved in the house was never cold
and empty. He wondered if this was how James felt when he returned home and had
a hot meal waiting on him. He closed his eyes, trying to block the longing that
he had for her to stay with him forever. Lily was back and so was his chance
that he had given up along time ago.

   “Remus, your back,”
Lily said.

He gave her a weak smile and nodded.

   “Well I’m glad that
you are,” she said. “I got a letter from Minerva telling me that Harry has been
banned. Thank the gods for something.”

Remus said nothing to this.

   “Well dinner will
be ready soon,” Lily continued. “I was hoping that tomorrow I could visit
Hermione. Tell her that I’m sorry for not believing her and everything.”

   “I’m sure that
Hermione will like you to return,” he said. “She is a great witch and an
excellent wife to Severus.”

Lily giggled.

   “I know,” she said.
“I’ve never seen him so smitten by a witch in my life. However, she’s a little
strange but I won’t tell her that.”

Remus cocked his head and looked at her.

   “What do you mean?”

   “Well she has that unruly
hair and this air of grace that I could never pull off. If you didn’t know
better you could say that she could pass for a pureblood.”

   “Well she’s the
greatest witch of her age,” he commented.

Lily looked at him, confused.

   “How could a girl
at that age be the greatest witch of her age?” she asked. “It takes years
before that is even noticed, if it ever is.”

   “Well that’s what
people say,” Remus said. “She masters spells very quickly and she treats people
well. A lot of witches and wizards are attracted to that.”

   “And what do you
think attracted Severus to her?”

Remus shrugged his shoulders.

   “Who knows,” he
said. “She has a lot of power, so that might be it. But I think it’s her heart
that attracted him.”

Lily wasn’t sure about that part.

            On Saturday
Hermione decided that it was about time to clean her room. She had been trying
to get around to it, but something always came up. She took out her wand and
waving it things moved right where Hermione wanted it. Suddenly something fell
to the floor and picking it up she saw at once that it belonged to Neville. Hermione
opened it and read:

Dear Hermione,

What in the world happened to cause you to send Harry a
Howler? Ron said that nothing happened, but I don’t believe him. Please let me
know soon.

Neville

PS! Harry got Snape’s note.

            Hermione
smiled at Neville’s letter and pulling out a sheet of parchment she started on
her response.

Dear Neville,

Sorry about taking so long in replying but life has been hectic.
Some woman by the name of Alice Darkheart told me that my daughter is going to
be born a wizard instead of a witch. Please let me know if this is even
possible.

Hermione

PS! Harry got the Howler because he’s been a right asshole.

Hermione handed the letter to the owl and it flew off.
