Chapter 30

I am so sorry!! I had no idea that there were people still waiting for an update for this story! I was forced to stop updating this story here at AFF due to their switch over. I finished the story at skyehawke archives and left a link to it in my author's page here at AFF. After AFF's move I haven't really been back and spend most of my time in LiveJournal. I just happened to wander over to the review page and saw all of you writhing in anguish! I am so sorry!

This story is complete! I will post it all here now! The third story in the Indago universe is currently being written and will be published here soon. Thank you all so much! You all rock!!!

Big thanks to my beta, deathangelgw. I did some minor adjusting after her beta, so any mistakes are entirely my own.

Chapter Thirty

He didn't want to think about what was happening. It hurt but it pleased. It would be better to think about something else...something else that didn't hurt. If he closed his eyes, maybe he could think about a nice thing. Something nice that didn't hurt...maybe a nice place with trees and flowers.

Maia liked flowers.

We'll have more young. Master promised.

Swallowing hard, Harry opened his eyes and concentrated on the floor. Four tiles...four tiles were where his arms were. Elbows rested on two, his hands on two more. His head rested over the fifth one, but every few seconds his head would be pushed out over a sixth one and then pulled back. Six tiles. Six grey tiles.

It hurt.

/Don't let him do this! Stand up and fight!/

It hurt awfully.

It pleases our Supero. We must do as he pleases.

"I don't think you really want this," Muroch panted as he shoved into him again. "I think you want one of the others instead, right?"

Harry's eyes widened and, no matter how much it hurt, he pushed back, trying to please. From the satisfied grunt behind him, Harry believed he had done well in doing so. He would do anything to not go back to any of the wolves. They didn't just force him into sex…they punished him for that day in the forest. They punished him for the Magical Beings Protection Act. They punished him because he was an Indago. No matter what, there was nothing he could do to please them…to get them to stop hurting him.

Muroch was different. He made it hard to obey sometimes, but if Harry didn't listen to that other voice, the mean voice, then he would be okay. He just had to please his Supero and then he wouldn't be hurt.

/We're being hurt now! He's hurting us on purpose!/

Maybe when Muroch declared Harry's training over, he could help Muroch learn how to have intimate relations without pain. The other Indago probably just didn't know how to do it. Harry could help him and then maybe be rewarded.

/Draco never hurt us!/

Yes, he did. Draco hurt us. All Superos hurt if we do not obey. Our past dominant was no different.

/Draco loved us!/

Harry now knew that that was a lie. Draco had only been a dominant. He had done his job, but not well. That was why Muroch had to train Harry now. He had to teach Harry how he was supposed to behave. He said he didn't want to punish Harry, but Draco had not done it right so it was really Draco's fault that Harry had to be punished.

And Draco didn't want him back. He never came to get Harry.

Muroch had sent an owl to Draco telling him that he would fight him for Harry. But Draco never came. He never came.

/He was lying! That bastard never sent an owl! He couldn't have!/

But Harry knew that no matter what, Draco didn't love him. He remembered their fight that night. He remembered Draco saying that he hated Harry…was going to kill Harry. No...there was nowhere for Harry to go. He had failed as a parent when he had tried to kill Maia, which even now made him hate himself more than anything. He had failed as a spouse when he had betrayed his husband, which disgusted him when he thought of the things he had done behind Draco's back. He should be grateful that Muroch was willing to fix him and make him a better Indago…the perfect subicio.

He would be the perfect subicio. Then he would at least have something.

Hands clawed through the mess that was atop Draco's head. He couldn't remember if he had brushed his hair or not. It didn't really matter as he read one more reply letter stating the same thing the others had stated: No one had ordered anything that Muroch would need for the liquid potion. Another dead end.

The letter went into the fire as Draco moved away. He shuffled to the armchair nearest him and fell into it. He blankly looked down and saw a spot on his trousers. Hmmm. He had no idea where it could have come from. No, he remembered now: breakfast. His coffee had spilled when the Department Head of the Auror Division had written, apologizing that they could no longer expend all their energies on Harry's disappearance. They would, of course, still have a team working to recover Mr. Potter-Malfoy and to find and prosecute Daniel Muroch, but now that it had been two weeks, the investigation had to look in not so promising places… namely ditches, gutters, and rubbish bins.

Draco couldn't dredge up any more anger. He stared sightlessly at what remained of the coffee stain and wracked his brain for any more details, anything else he could remember from his interaction with the American. The man's flat in London had been raided and found to have been let out to another occupant, all traces of him having been erased. All witnesses at Maia's Naming Ceremony had been questioned and had all collectively not seen the man. The American Wizarding authorities had been contacted, but neither they nor the United Kingdom's Apparating fields had been traversed by anyone matching his or Harry's magical signature. The American Wizarding government would do their own investigation, but as of yet: nothing. Daniel Muroch had disappeared without a trace, taking Harry with him.

Draco closed his eyes and dropped his head back against the upholstery. His father had hired an entire legion of private investigators and they also had returned nothing. His father. Draco sighed as he thought of Lucius Malfoy. His father had been nothing but accommodating since their small row a week ago. The determination in the elder Malfoy was quite impressive. So was the amount of Galleons he was shelling out in order to find Harry. Especially once it was known that Harry had been kidnapped, not lost or hiding. Apparently, whatever else Harry was in Lucius's eyes, he was still considered a Malfoy, or at least, Malfoy property, and no one took anything from a Malfoy. Lucius had been nearly tireless in the manhunt, had even offered to care for Maia at the Manor so that Draco could rest and concentrate. His father's house-elf had been shipped to Essex to take over Ably's position since the traitorous creature had been booted out of the home with a shirt on his back.

"Draco."

Silver eyes opened as Draco was ripped from his meandering thoughts. Snape stood in the doorway of the sitting room in nothing but trousers and shirtsleeves. "It's nearly dawn. I would recommend trying to sleep in your own bed for a few hours," the older man suggested quietly.

"I can't." Draco huffed and stood. "If it's nearly dawn then I'll have my breakfast and go back out looking."

"You are nearly ready to fall down. You will hardly be in a proper searching position face down in a ditch."

"Maybe that's where I'll get lucky," Draco muttered darkly.

"He wants him alive. In fact, Muroch will go to any lengths to keep Harry fit and healthy."

Draco saw the strong conviction in Snape's eyes and nodded his concession to the Potion Master's words. Snape came further into the room to stare down into the slow flames in the fireplace. Draco and Snape had come to terms with each other on that turbulent night. Draco had accepted the submission and the apology. And both men had recognized the new dynamic that had begun long before. The two men were equal now. Neither had higher ranking in their small pack…they were a Supero team who had to find their missing sub.

"I'll sleep if you will," Draco challenged. Snape seemed to be lost in the fire for a moment and then nodded. He looked over his shoulder at Draco.

Both men then moved up the stairs to sleep, their arms brushing the other as they dreamed and fretted. The brief touches anchored each other even in slumber.

"Master Malfoy, sir," the house-elf said in an odd low squeak. Draco hadn't bothered to learn the thing's name. "There is a Mr. Lupin here to see you."

"Send him away," Draco growled and went back to circling areas on the map he had spread across the dining room table. They had thoroughly searched all of Essex and the surrounding areas, Wizard and Muggle alike. They had also combed through almost ninety percent of London and its surrounding—

"Draco!"

Draco stood up straight and glared at his intruder. "I would leave if I were you. Immediately."

"Draco, listen to me," Lupin said urgently as he was blocked by the agitated house elf. "I may have found something."

"You? I don't believe a yip a werewolf would utter," Draco replied arrogantly.

"Then believe the word of a friend. Of Harry's friend," Lupin insisted quietly. Draco looked at the man who had dared to barge into his home. His clothes, as usual, were shabby, but well taken care of. His hair was combed but obviously mussed from his tussle with the house-elf and sported more grey than the last time he had seen it. Not that Draco had had occasion to see the werewolf in years. He had been quite clear that the man did not come along with Harry in the marriage. Draco didn't care how meek and gentle the man looked now. Just half a month ago he had been a ravening beast in the moonlight. But Harry loved him and Lupin loved Harry.

"Leave us," Draco barked and the elf disappeared. Lupin took a deep breath and straightened himself out, taking a hesitant step inside the room.

"Ugh, your stench is overpowering," Draco complained, holding the back of his hand to his nose. Lupin's own nose wrinkled in distaste.

"You're no bouquet yourself, Draco," he retorted.

"State your business, then get out," Draco snapped as he dropped his hand and glared harder.

Lupin nodded. "I think I may have found signs of werewolves."

Draco stared dumfounded then sneered. "Excellent. You found your own kind and are dumping my idiot relation. Thank you for informing me. Have fun in your newfound life. Ta ta." Draco turned to look back down at the map, but was careful not lose sight of the other man.

Lupin sighed. "Draco, I think I may have found the werewolves that were that American's accomplices," he stated in a long suffering tone. Draco's eyes snapped back to his and he turned to give him his full attention.

"What are you blathering about? What werewolf accomplices?"

Blinking in confusion, Lupin stared at Draco. Then he seemed to snap to attention. "Don't tell me you didn't realize…" The older man took a step closer but then stopped as Draco's body stiffened in preparation to defend himself. "Draco, what your house-elf said… the man eating his parents. Didn't you realize that the man was probably a werewolf? He had a bad odour, the elf said in the report. That would mean a loose werewolf. What other man would eat elves?" Lupin asked desperately.

"I had assumed that the elf had been tricked into such a carnal idea," Draco answered with very little emotion in his voice. Lupin shook his head adamantly.

"No, I saw the remains of those elves. They had been left near the edge of the meadow that borders your property. There were clearly teeth marks that were the cause of death, not left by carrion." Lupin's shoulders slumped. "Draco, I had no idea that you were unaware of this information. I…I'm sorry."

Draco stared unfazed at the other man. "It doesn't matter. With so many fools in the search I have found countless holes in the gathering of information. You said you found signs of them? Or is it just a he?"

Lupin shook his head, a concerned look in his amber eyes. "No, it seems to be a definite group of them. Because of the elf's story, I have been searching for any reports of mutilated livestock and other tell-tale signs of werewolves in the area. There were scattered reports in the Marlborough district. I went there to investigate and was able to discern that there was, in fact, evidence to point to at least three werewolves in that area. Their range seemed to only be two square miles, and they didn't seem to be crossing the Canal, which is unusual unless they had a home base. I couldn't find anything, though. I'm not sure exactly what that means, unfortunately." The older man grimaced and shrugged his shoulders. "But I thought you might like to have that information so we could possibly concentrate the search in that area."

"Could you smell any sign of Harry?" Draco asked with a raised brow.

"No. But it had rained only three days before I got there. I was able to see the physical evidence, but any help scent may have given was washed away. I'm sorry."

"Well, you're hardly in charge of the weather, are you?" Draco shrugged and then waved his hand toward the door leading to the kitchen. "Help yourself to anything in the kitchen. The elf will get you what ever you may like."

"Draco…" Lupin's eyes and voice were full of confused concern.

"We thank you for your help in moving this investigation along. If you remember any other details, please do not hesitate to contact either myself or Severus. We appreciate any clarification or help you can provide in this matter." Draco walked out of the room after his formal announcement. He didn't even bother to walk a wide path around the other man in the doorway, merely brushed shoulders as he made his way into the hall, picked up his cloak, and left the house. Lupin stood there for some time after hearing the undisciplined loud crack of Apparition that signalled that the blond had not been in as much control of his emotions as his face and voice had portrayed. Then the greying man moved toward the stairs to find Severus.

Draco didn't bother to knock on the front doors to his childhood ancestral home. A house-elf popped into the grand hall a moment after he shut the door, but quickly disappeared when it was given a teeth-bared snarl. Draco immediately moved down the hall and pushed open the back stairways door and descended down into darkness. The stone steps spiralled and twisted, but he didn't allow its purposeful misleading directions get to him. When he came to the third landing that did not look like a landing, he spoke the password to the painting of a torch-lit hallway, causing it to elongate. He stepped over the wooden frame and entered the 'canvas'. The torches gave off no warmth and only minimal light as he stalked down the corridor. There were several oak doors on either side of him, but they did not lead to what he wanted. Finally, at the end of the hall, he opened the large steel door and walked inside.

The elves were not allowed in this room, so Draco was not surprised to see the dusting charms in effect, slowly dragging feather dusters and cloths along the surfaces and tops of books. The entire room's walls were floor to ceiling shelves crammed with books, binders, loose leaves of parchment, and other assorted items including globes, spheres, boxes, and trunks. All in all, the entire room accounted for all Malfoy holdings: past, present, and future.

Draco immediately went to the bookshelf that he knew held the local land holdings. His eyes scanned each binding until he found the immediate area around the Manor. Pulling the large binder out, he placed it on one of the tables that were used for this purpose and began flipping through. Marlborough was not very far away. But what had sprung to mind when Lupin had mentioned it specifically, was not the town of Marlborough, but Savernake Forest nearby. That forest was ancient, but that wasn't the detail that was tickling his brain. A memory, faded and eroded by time, was struggling forth and helping him find what he was looking for. He knew he had heard his father mention it before… he just knew it.

There.

Savernake Forest was dense and uncut: a perfect hiding spot for one of his father's grandiose schemes. Draco stared at the scripted words on the page he had found and at the detailed pencil drawing that had given shape to the endeavour.

An underground lab...built for the Dark Lord and his followers to carry out experiments in curses, hexes, and potions too ghastly to be allowed out. Weapons made to destroy those that opposed Voldemort and his regime. A lab that had been completed a mere two months before Harry had destroyed the dark wizard and put an end to the war.

Draco rifled through the accompanying paperwork: bills for the services of the builders, an amused note that stated that the builders had all perished in a 'freak' accident, journal entries detailing the animals--both magical and non-magical--that had been brought in to the facilities to 'practice' on, a few names of captured Aurors and others who had gone missing during the war and had found their deaths in that place. Draco continued through the sparse information the building had garnered in its short span of operation until he was arrested by a newer entry. Not three months ago, a small company had petitioned and won the ability to use the facility for a leased period of two years at an exorbitant amount. When had his father put the thing on the market? How could he possibly explain what it was built for? Draco couldn't fathom how his father put a good spin on this one and frankly couldn't care. What caught his attention was the name of the small company that was now leasing the location: Murlo Group. Draco frowned at the name. Why did that sound familiar? With narrowed eyes he held up his hand.

"I, Draco Malfoy, request any information on the name Murlo Group." The room answered his request and another book soon came sailing to him. This book was smaller but much more grandiose and Draco immediately remembered where he had seen it last. Nearly a year ago, Harry and he had presided over a charity dinner and Draco had carried that book. It was the Malfoy Charitable Donations book.

The book landed on the table and flipped to the third to the last entry.

"… the DLM company, an independent entity of Murlo Group, has been given a donation of ten thousand Galleons for its developments and innovations in healing incurable curses and hexes. The Malfoy Family wishes that all those who suffer will not…" Draco slammed the book shut on the words he had mouthed not twelve months ago. His father was an idiot! In his quest to gild the family name, he had paid a company the money to lease his own property! Draco and Harry had handed over the bank script themselves to do it! And Draco could just guess who the DLM company was: Daniel LaVey Muroch! Harry could be in that lab at that very moment! Not more than twenty-five kilometres from where Draco was right now! Muroch hadn't needed to purchase any equipment or stock… they had given it to him!

Clenching his teeth hard in anger, Draco shoved the books to the floor and slammed out of the room. He quickened his pace on his way back up to the main hall. No house-elves bothered him as he made his way through the marbled entry and opened the door. "Accio Draco's broom," he called out. He hoped his mother was as sentimental as he hoped she was and kept his things where he had—Ah, there it was. The handle of the Nimbus 2001 hit his palm with a satisfying thwap.

"Draco? Is that you? I would have brought Maia to you."

Draco ignored his mother's floating voice coming from the top of the stairs and slammed out of the house and, in the blink of an eye, he Apparated to Savernake Forest. The sun was low and the thick foliage created a faux twilight. Draco couldn't care less. Climbing onto the broom, he sailed through the gnarled trees, bypassing walking trails until he came to the tree that had been described by the paperwork. He jumped off the broom, letting it fall to the ground heedlessly, and walked the few paces where the hidden door could be found. With a whispered incantation gleaned from the binder, the gnarled tree smoothly split apart and revealed a spiral staircase down. His boots barely made a sound as he stealthily descended into the earth, the tree sealing together above him.

The wooden stairs gradually became stone and then finally metal. There were yellowish electric lights every hundred paces down the metal corridor he found himself in. 'How very Muggle, Father.' Draco cautiously scented the air. There was the presence of another Supero, but unless he was wearing an invisibility cloak, there was no one in the silent hall. Draco cautiously moved forward, testing the air to see if the scent increased at all. There were no doors in the corridor and no windows, not even enchanted ones.

He was slowly coming to the end of the hall and could see that the large heavy double doors had been left open. Draco sidled towards them, slinking along the wall to get a better view without being a target. His wand lay warm in his hand from when he had palmed it the moment the tree had opened. He crept silently forward until he could see a large all grey room, which seemed to be the décor theme in this place. It was circular with multiple hallways branching off from it. Leaning out a bit away from the wall, Draco cast a look down as many of them as he could. But then, movement caught his eye at the end of one of them.

Harry!

Harry had walked right past the end of the corridor straight ahead! Draco swallowed hard and realized how much of him had expected to find only his husband's body. But Harry was alive! Alive and walking! Draco frowned… Harry had walked right past the exit. Why hadn't Harry run? If he was up and walking… then Draco realized something: the Supero pheromone. He must be on the leash. Draco gritted his teeth. He was going to kill Muroch, painfully and slowly.

Edging around the door, Draco moved toward the hallway that led to his Harry and slid down its passage against the wall. If Harry was on the leash, then Muroch couldn't be too far away. Draco could smell the other's scent getting stronger as he got closer. It permeated the air. The reek of the other incited Draco's instincts to rise up and he knew he would have to be careful that the silver streaks on his face didn't give him away.

He came to the end of the hallway and carefully stuck his head out to check for any signs of attack. To his right was an endless corridor, smooth with no hiding spots that he could see. Empty. When he turned to look to his left, he drew in a breath. There was Harry standing at a large circular table, just standing there, close enough that Draco could see his green eyes were down and his entire body appeared relaxed. Other than Harry, there didn't appear to be anyone else in the room. There were three doors in the walls, all of them closed. There were two more hallways that branched off from the room, but there was no sign of any other occupants.

Draco knew a trap when he saw one. But the bait was almost too much to resist. There was Harry not more than twenty feet from him! Draco checked the area around and behind him again and decided he'd walk into this one. He was going to take his husband home.

Sliding along the wall until he came to the doorway for the room where Harry stood, Draco paused and called out, "Harry! Harry, it's Draco!" But there was not one sign of response. Draco edged out a bit farther, keeping his eyes scanning for any signs of the trap springing closed, his wand up and at the ready. "Harry! Look over here. It's Draco, pet." Draco frowned as Harry seemed to flinch for a moment and then all emotion bled from his face again. Angry now at whatever the bastard had done to his Harry, Draco grit his teeth and moved fully into the room. He kept his eyes on the shut doors as he quickly moved to the table.

He was now close enough to see the brunet better and it enraged him. The clothes Harry wore, the same he had worn the awful night he had left, were torn and frayed. He sported bare feet and his hands seemed bruised. Through the tears in his clothes, Draco could see more bruises. What had that bastard done to him? "Harry, let's go home," he urged softly. "Maia is waiting for you." Just as Draco put his hand out to take hold of Harry's arm, the other man came to life. He pulled back fearfully and moved away.

"He's been ordered not to allow you to touch him. And Harry is very obedient nowadays."

Draco spun to confront the jovial voice that had come from behind him. The door that had been in the centre was now open and Daniel Muroch was standing in its doorway with a smile on his face. "Very good, pet. Now come here," the man ordered and immediately Harry went to him. Draco watched in disbelieving anger as Harry walked away from him and to Muroch. Reaching the other man's side, Harry immediately went down on his knees and placed his hands on the floor.

"What the fuck have you done to him?" Draco seethed. His knuckles became white as they clenched hard around his wand.

Muroch leaned down and patted Harry's head as if he were a dog and then rose back up with a smile. "I have merely shown him how wonderful it is to be pure. You had given him a lot of crazy ideas about how a subicio was supposed to act. He was confused. But I have shown him the pleasure of being true to his nature." Muroch smiled. "But don't be hard on yourself. You're a young dominant still. You just didn't know how to go about it."

Draco didn't bother to reply, but merely lifted his wand and hissed, "Avada Kadavra!"

Nothing happened. Draco watched as the smile on the other man's face grew bigger. "Sorry about that...should have mentioned sooner that this place is warded against any and all types of magic. But good effort."

With a snarl of rage, Draco charged the other Supero, jumping over the table. He was going to enjoy ripping the man apart with his bare hands much more than with magic. Draco wanted the other dominant to fight, fight hard, so that he would have an excuse to cause as much pain as possible. Not that he would need an excuse.

The other doors flung open before he could reach the throat he wanted to strangle. The stench of wolf made him growl before they all charged him. Three of them came right at him, slamming into him hard. Another two came at him from behind. After that, he couldn't see how many did what as he was neatly pinned to the ground. He called again and again for his magic, nature itself. But there was nothing natural or alive in this place. He was left snarling and snapping on the floor, glaring up at a smirking Muroch.

"I'd like you to meet my friends. They have been so very helpful to me, in no small part because of their hatred for you. I'd introduce you, but I don't think you'd be very cordial."

"Fuck you!"

Muroch nodded. "I thought as much. You know, Draco, you should be thankful that we are so rare. I'd have killed you by now, just for your rudeness to me in our past meetings. But I have a vision that I will not allow to become cloudy with personal sentiment." Muroch squatted down and peered at Draco over a werewolf's shoulder. "I have room for you in that vision. We may not like each other, but you are still a viable source to harvest from. So, we will just have to let bygones be bygones and concentrate on our future."

Draco glared as he struggled under the heap of reeking bodies. "I'll kill you, Muroch! You don't have a future!"

Muroch stood up, clicking his tongue and shaking his head. "Such melodramatic lines. Alright, my friends, let's show Draco here our accommodations. Oh, and do be careful. Don't want to unnecessarily bruise the specimen."

Draco was hauled to his feet, fighting the entire time as he was dragged down one of the corridors. In what seemed like seconds, Draco found himself in another of the circular grey rooms which held a cage, its metal barred door standing wide open. Draco bit anything that came within range and hit and kicked, but nothing stopped his path into the jail. The door clanged shut with a finality that made Draco react illogically. He screamed and beat at the bars, grabbing hold and shaking them.

"Hey, hey. You're scaring Harry."

Draco stopped, panting and gripping the bars hard. Muroch stood, flanked by his wolves that were all grinning or nursing a wound, Harry right beside him. Harry. His Harry was standing there, eyes down, shoulders slumped. There was a bruise and scratch on his cheek, Draco could see now. "If you hurt him anymore—"

"You'll what? Do an impersonation of a crazed gorilla again?" Chuckles greeted Muroch's quip. "Harry is mine now...has been for these last two weeks. He has finally learned his place and I don't thank you for making his training so hard. You corrupted him. But now he understands, don't you, Harry?"

Draco looked at his husband and watched as those pale pink lips he loved to kiss whisper, "Yes, Master."

"You son of a whore!" Draco hissed. He glared at Muroch. "Nobody is Harry's master!"

"There you are wrong." Muroch turned and began walking away, Harry right behind him. "Don't think that we are bad hosts. Lunch will be served in about an hour." And Draco was left alone in his cage.
