Two Red Heads
Potions
Severus Snape woke up with a start, he had the most intense dream of his life. He was panting, his pants were sticky, and he had a strong feeling of guilt; like he had cheated on Lily. As he woke up, even more, he knew he was being silly. He and Lily were not dating, they were not even friends anymore. There was also the small fact that there was still over three weeks left in school and several more O.W.L. tests to complete.
Severus sighed and drew back the curtains on his four-poster bed, his dorm mates were still asleep. He looked at his clock and it was only five am on a day without classes. Severus knew he would not be able to get back to sleep, so he grabbed his uniform and went to the bathroom to clean up and get dressed.
Afterward, he was not sure what to do, they were not allowed to wander the halls till six am. He figured the common room would be empty this early in the morning and headed down there. Right as he was about to enter the common room he heard what he swore sounded like a potion explosion. The potions exam was this Monday, and it was Saturday. Whoever this person was, still having this much trouble, would probably fail their OWLs.
Severus walked into the common room and pulled out and his wand and cleared the smoke out of the air. That's when he saw a very frustrated Sera sitting in a chair by her cauldron and potions book. All he had wanted to do was forget about her, and yet there she was the only other person in the common room. Sera had not noticed Severus yet and then, there were tears coming from her blue eyes. Following a strange tug inside him, Severus went over and sat in the chair next to her.
"Selwyn?" Severus asked. She wiped her eyes very quickly and looked away for a moment, when she looked back it didn't even look like she had been crying.
"Snape," Sera said. "You're up early."
"So are you," Severus said.
"I had a nightmare," Sera said. "So I figured I practice for my Potions OWLs."
"Nightmare?" Severus asked.
"It's fine, I've had it plenty of times before," Sera said. Severus was very curious about this nightmare now. "It doesn't matter, I have to practice for my Potion's OWLs. I can't fail this."
"You never seem this bad in class," Severus said.
"That's because I'm partnered with Rosier," Sera said. "And he insists about doing every potion himself." Severus gave her strange look. "He says my only job should be finding Slytherin husband. Then he asks what I am doing over the weekend."
"Sounds like Evan is trying to date you," Severus said. Sera started to laugh.
"What?" Sera said laughing more. "Well, that would explain somethings. But I am not into blonde boys."
"You could just have your boyfriend beat him up," Severus said.
"I don't have a boyfriend," Sera said.
"That seems out of place," Severus said. "Your even on Black's radar so you have to be one the prettiest girls in school." Sera blushed a little, and Severus had to admit she was little pretty, still, nothing compared to Lily though.
"Gryffindor opinions do not matter," Sera said. "Let alone one from the dog boy." This made Severus smile. "Besides dating just is not for me, it would involve actually getting to know people. I prefer just to watch people."
"You are stranger than people say you are," Severus said.
"I know," Sera said. "Besides I'd rather focus on school and this Potions exam. I know I will do well on the written part. But as you can tell, the practical part will probably earn me a Troll grade."
Normally, Severus would not care, he would just get up and leave, actually, he would not have even stopped to talk to her. But there was something about this Sera girl that gave him unnatural thoughts and ideas. So instead he asked her where she thought the problem was and started to help her with her potion. Sera was not actually that bad, she just never got to practice before, plus the directions from the book were not that great either.
They talked a great deal about potions, even went to breakfast together and talked more there. Severus even told her his potion secrets, and he had only ever told Lily those before. It was not bad hanging out with Sera either, she was a good listener. She got better throughout the day, and Severus even spent Sunday with her as well to make sure she was doing well.
At some point on Sunday, Lily and Marauders had seen Sera and Severus hanging out. Sirius even made a comment about Sera being too hot for Severus, but Sera just ignored them. Then when they got back to the Slytherin common room she complained about Gryffindor stupidity.
