Considering their ongoing emnity throughout highschool, Hermione had found Draco to be surprisingly good company in the end. They didn't discuss the war for the remainder of the evening, but it was obvious that the spoiled brat she had known as a student was now at least partly reformed; the experience of the last few years having knocked a lot of sense into him and removed his former arrogance. He had an office at the school, he told her, but was staying in a small flat he'd purchased in the main part of Hogsmeade from earnings he'd made from his own private investments. He even offered to teach her some basic techniques to use on the wizarding equivalent of the stock market.

She was certain Neville would have something derogatory to say about their new alliance, and she had no plans to say anything to Harry or Ron. But it was one less person to worry about avoiding in the castle.

She had managed to avoid Professor Snape throughout Sunday, much to her relief. He had apparently decided to give up eating in the great hall for the foreseeable future, which suited her just fine. Draco had convinced her that perhaps he wasn't about to ruin her career, but she was still never going to be able to look him in the eye again.
