Letters

For this chapter, I’m going to be switch perspectives and following the letters Harry wrote.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

                Hedwig flew with Harry’s first letter as fast as her wings could carry her. She knew he would need her to return quickly for the other letter. She made her way to the bank, landing gracefully on the front desk. A goblin sitting nearby walked over.

“Hello pretty. What do you have there?”

Hedwig held out her leg and waited for the letter to be removed. Once it was detached, she took off heading back to Harry. The goblin watched as the owl flew away. Quickly he opened the letter, read the greeting and took the letter to Griphook.

“Master Griphook. A letter has arrived for you.”

“Thank you Master Rook.”
Rook handed over the letter and took his leave. Griphook opened the letter and proceeded to read it. He read it twice to ensure that what he had read was accurate. He set the letter down on his desk, touched the corner of it and whispered a spell. The letter glowed a soft blue. Griphook smiled, the letter truly was from Mister Potter. He quickly wrote back a response.

Mister Potter,

I will happily assist you any way I can. I will send you what I can in the following week and once you are fully emancipated we can take the next steps to secure you vault. Please report to me as soon as that is accomplished. If you are in school when it is finished, please send me a letter so that I can arrange a meeting with you through your head of house.

Respectfully yours,

Griphook

He called one of the bank owls and attached the letter.

“Locate Mister Harry Potter and see this letter to his hand. No one else is to touch it.”
The owl hooted and took off. Once the owl had left, Griphook began his task of compiling all the information he could to give to Harry. He was most pleased that the young man was taking steps to free himself from those around him. Griphook knew that once he was fully emancipated, heads would roll so to speak.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

                While Griphook worked away, Hedwig was heading to her second destination. She flew to the manor and through an open window. She winged through the home until she found the occupants sitting in the sun room.

“What is this?” Lucius asked as Hedwig zipped past him to land next to Draco.

“It looks like an owl father.” Draco replied. He had to fight to keep from laughing at the face his father made.

Lucius stood and went to get the letter. Hedwig moved away and hopped into Draco’s lap. She hooted and held out her leg. Lucius tried to get the letter again and Hedwig nipped at his fingers.

“Looks like this is a letter meant only for me.”

Draco removed the letter. As he read it, he pet the beautiful owl. He had to read the letter a few more times to make sure he was reading it right. As he continued to read, Narcissa fed bits of tea cake to Hedwig. Draco looked at the owl, back to the letter, and grinned. He went to a nearby desk and penned a quick response before sending Hedwig on her way.

“Father, read this.”

Draco handed his father the letter and watched as he read it once, then twice before handing it to Narcissa.

“What do you make of this Draco?” Lucius asked.

“I think Potter is finally thinking for himself. I also think that if we help him, he could help us in the long run.”

“How so?”

“If we help him, he could speak on our behalf and keep us out of prison. He is also magically strong and surprisingly creative. Maybe, with some help, he could find a way to remove the mark. I know there are a few who wish to be free of it. This would give him strong life debts and even stronger protection than what he has been getting.”

Lucius sat and thought about what Draco had said. He was right on all accounts. Potter was stronger than the Dark Lord and his raw magic could undo the mark if applied right.

“Excuse me please. I have a few letters to write.”

With that, Lucius left to go write the letters needed to help Harry Potter.

I hope you all are enjoying this story.
