It Calms Me

Growling, Malice almost threw Narcissa out of her house. This was the third time today that the woman had decided to rearrange something in her home. She did agree that the Malfoys could stay in her home, that she had no problem with as she could expand her home, adding three more rooms and two more bathrooms for the family. What she didn't really agree to was the constant redecorating, as she had already made a compromise by making the extra room into her Potions Lab, though she really liked having her desk in sight. Groaning, the hybrid caught her breath and then grabbed a pouch from the fridge, her fangs growing and helping her pop through the plastic as the red liquid flowed into her mouth before her guests woke up. She had no reason to hide, really as Narcissa and Lucius knew of what she was, but she still did not want to freak out her Namesake due to what she was. When the bag was drained, she threw it away and looked up at the ceiling as she heard people getting up. She almost forgot that her chair was moved as she went to go sit down and then remembered why she was mad in the first place. Sitting down, she pursed her lips together and rubbed the bridge of her nose as Narcissa came out and went into the bigger kitchen, looking to her friend.

“I swear, Cissa. If you rearrange anything else, I will hex you. I almost met the floor this morning from you moving my chair yesterday.” Malice muttered, looking over to her friend. She was happy that she could speak normally, with only the occasional slip of Parseltongue, and it was due to her friends having been with her for the past week that it was possible.

“I am only trying to make this place a bit more homey, Malice. I swear, it was like we came into your nest or something of the sort.” Narcissa laughed softly as she stirred her tea and joined her friend in the parlor. “Plus, you basically made this shack into a home now, I think it should look the part.” The Medi-Witch added, shrugging her shoulders as she brought her tea cup to her lips, sipping at the slightly lemon flavored, heated beverage as she inspected her friend over the brim of her cup.

“I still have had to make things move and put them away when I have not wanted to do such things.” Malice glared at her friend and raised a brow, shaking her head after a minute before rubbing her neck, going to her fridge again to pull out the emerald green potion and then her lovely purple potion on top of it. Sitting next to her friend in her chair again, she down both bottles, leaning her head back and closing her eyes as her body went rigid from the pain coursing through and then a sweat covered her brow. She always hated taking the emerald potion, but it was needed if she was going to fight the venom within her body without having to use her own Animagus. Narcissa watched her with a worried expression before she spoke.

“Why don't you just contact him? He needs to know you are alive. He deserves to know he's yours, Malice!” Narcissa demanded of her friend, only to get a growl in return just as Lucius came out with Draco. The older male looked around before his eyes landed on Malice and he sighed, taking a seat next to his wife on the couch as he looked to his friend.

“You know she has a point, Malice. You have been letting yourself go through being alone for far too long and we know what those purple potions are. It is already starting to kick in, isn't it? Just how long do you think you have until it eats you and you end up like your mother, or worse?” Lucius' voice was laced with concern, something that he hadn't let shown through in a while and his son looked at him rather surprised before looking confused at what was going on. He didn't want to ask, but at the same time, he was curious.

“What are you talking about, mother? Father?” Draco asked, looking between his parents before his eyes fell on the witch in the chair, wondering so much about this woman who always called Namesake. Her blue eyes landed on him and she sighed, sitting forward in her chair and looking deep in thought before she spoke.

“I am not just a witch, Namesake. My family was cursed centuries ago, and we were put with through vampirism and draconis. That is why you are my Namesake, as I am a dragon my dear as well as a vampire. The only reason I am deciding to share this with you is because you are my blood adopted, as is Severus.” Malice sighed and rubbed the bridge of her nose again, clearing her throat before continuing. “Both vampire and dragons have mates, and mine just so happens to be someone who has never wanted me, and never will. That is all I am going to tell you for now, Namesake.” Malice smiled sadly and leaned back in her chair, biting her bottom lip and looking into the fire. Today was going to be a very long day.

====Hogwarts, that Night=====

Severus woke up with a start and looked around with wide eyes. His whole body was covered in a sheen of sweat and he quickly kicked off his blankets and sheets, standing up and pacing slightly. His pale skin reflected the one light in his room, the glare sculpting out the lean, muscular body that was always hidden underneath black robes. Scars adorned the pale skin, one on his hip that started right at the dusting trail that disappeared into his black silk pajama pants and ending somewhere on the right side of his hip, but hidden from view due to the clothing he wore. Checking himself for any marks, he looked at his now bare left arm and sighed. The war was over, he had no reason to be having nightmares, but racking his brain, he realized he didn't wake up because of a nightmare. He had seen her, she was alive and laughing and sitting in a chair while voices were around her. He couldn't really remember the voices, he was more focused on the woman in his dream. She looked worse than what he remembered seeing her last, new markings on her body and he couldn't figure out what was wrong with her.

“Severus, Severus may I have a word?” Severus looked over and saw green glowing in his lounge and sighed, putting on a baggy, dark gray shirt and opening his bedroom door. Heading to the fire, he saw the head of Minerva and sat down in front of the fireplace, raising a brow.

“Why am I being summoned so late in the night, Minerva?” Severus leaned back, looking rather tired as he tried to concentrate on the woman before him rather than the woman in his dreams.

“I think I have come across something you want to see, dear friend.” Minerva said softly and then moved out of the fire so Severus could step through. Hiding a groan and growl of annoyance, Severus walked into the green flames and found himself in the Headmistress' office, where she was walking to her desk, pulling out a letter and walking back to Severus and handing it to him. “I got this early today from Narcissa Malfoy, and I figured you would want to read it as well.” She muttered softly and then motioned for Severus to sit down. He followed her instructions and then opened the parchment to get to reading, his eyes widening as the writing was not Narcissa's, but someone of importance.

Dear Minerva McGonagal,

I am writing this to let you know my family and I are well. Please do not try to find us, as the owner of the house we live in has been living in secret for about a year or so now. You probably already have an idea who it is as we know you sensed her during the war. Despite her injuries due to her mate, the woman is rather fine, but does not want to come out of hiding yet. For those who are close to us, please let them know how we are and we wish them well. If you ever need to get a hold of us, send Fawkes as he is to stay with you until we are safe, then he can go to his true owner as she will reveal herself once we are safe. Tell Severus he may need to find a new substitute for his class, and we are terribly sorry for any inconvenience. Attached to this letter is a Portkey, if Severus ever feels the need to see us, all he has to do is take hold of the Snake on this pendant and he will be right where we are.

We hope you all are safe and living well.

Best regards and wishes,
Narcissa Malfoy

Severus looked up at the older woman and she held out a necklace that he was all to familiar with, his eyes widening in almost pure joy. The necklace was a dragon with a snake wrapped around its body, being protected by the Basilisk snake and it made him relax. The dragon had a sapphire for its eye while the snake had an emerald, Slytherin and Ravenclaw main colors and he reached up and took the necklace by the chain, putting it on and touching the dragon's head, causing a purr to be heard in his mind, putting him at ease.

“Well, you may go back to bed. I would only use that right when you need to, Severus. Aside from that, have a good night.” Minerva smiled and Severus nodded at her, getting up and going through the fire again to reach his bedchambers. How long had it been since he had heard this purr? It was so soothing, and it was his lullaby putting him back to sleep for the rest of the night.
