Library Assignment
Ordinary Life
Anon: Thanks! It means a lot that you like my story. The first chapter was written late at night and the second was written in response to my friend telling me to write more. After this set up chapter, they will be longer, I promise.
MilissaRukia: It is sad. I won't tell you her decision as it would give away too much, but I will tell you I have a plan. I have a plan for Draco as well.
A/N: So upon rereading, I noticed that tenses switched halfway through the chapter. xD I fixed it.

Hermione waited as Madame Pomfrey requested that Professors McGonagall and Dumbledore join them in the hospital wing. She jumped when the door swung open, revealing the professors.
“Hermione? Is everything okay? Poppy said it was urgent.” Hermione took a deep breath, was she ready for this? With Madame Pomfrey, it was just a piece of paper. Once she told them, it was real.
“I’m pregnant…” They both gasped, shocked that such a good student would have made the misjudgment to not at least use protection. Madame Pomfrey frowned.
“Tell them the rest.” Hermione took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves and push the tears she had thought were long since dry away.
“I’m pregnant, because three weeks ago, I was raped.” Professor McGonagall squeaked, flabbergasted that any person could rape within the walls of Hogwarts.
“Who was it, Hermione?” Hermione wiped away the stray tears.
“Draco Malfoy. I had fallen asleep in the library again, and he found me…” Suddenly, she found herself recounting all the details of the rape to them, unable to stop once she had started. Both Madame Pomfrey and Professor McGonagall comforted her as Professor Dumbledore sat across from her, holding her hands.
“Hermione, would it be okay if I took your memories from that evening? When I make a move to make sure that the young Malfoy pays for his crime, I want to be able to show them the proof.” Hermione nods, glad to be rid of the memory. Professor Dumbledore placed the tip of his wand to her temple before pulling away, a white strand of a very flowy material following the tip of the wand.
Hermione relaxed in her chair, the memory not gone, but distant, as if it had happened to someone else.
“I will hold onto this until the trial.” He said, placing the memory into a bottle and stowing it in his robes. “Now, what are you planning on doing with the baby?”
“What do you mean, Albus? Surely you plan on at least carrying the baby to term, Miss Granger?”
“That’s actually why you both are here. I don’t want this baby. The thought that something resulted from this encounter disgusts me. I would much rather just end the pregnancy.”
Professor Dumbledore sighed, “Miss Granger, while it is your decision, I implore you to think of the child. It would not be their fault. What if we could promise you that you would never have to see the child again? Would you be willing to put it up for adoption? I know several good homes it could go to.” Hermione took a deep breath, this was such a big decision.
“I need to think about it. I have time.” The three adults nodded, watching her stand and leave the office.
Hermione walked out of the hospital wing, heading towards dinner. She would make an appearance as she always did, proceeding to push her food around her plate for an hour before leaving and going straight to her room.
She sat down at her normal spot among her fellow Gryffindors, pulling food onto her plate but then just pushing it around. Nobody would notice; they hadn’t so far, why would they notice now? She looked around the Great Hall at all the students. They were going on with their dinners, their conversations consisting of homework and tests and papers. All the while, they were completely unaware of her inner turmoil.
She looked back down at her plate, could anyone tell how confused she was? How much emotional pain she was in? Her dream had been to graduate from Hogwarts, get a job at the Ministry, marry Ron, and have children with him. She wasn’t supposed to be pregnant! She was supposed to be studying for her N.E.W.T.s and having fun with her friends. That future was gone now.
She realized that she was stabbing her food and looked up, and saw Ginny staring at her. She smiled weakly, returning to stare her food down.
If she were going to bring the baby to term, she needed to figure out how to hide the inevitable bump. If I can’t find something to hide the bump in the next month, then I will tell them ‘I’m sorry, but there’s no way I can bring this baby to term.’
After a half hour of pushing her food around, Hermione left, not noticing that Ginny was following her.
::ONE WEEK EARLIER::
“I’m telling you, there’s something going on with Hermione. She hasn’t eaten in two weeks, at least not at the regular meal times. She’s lost a lot of weight.” Ginny was pleading with her brother and Harry to take notice. They were in the common room, and as usual Hermione was nowhere to be seen.
“She’s fine, Gin. If she weren’t, she would say something.” Harry nodded in agreement with Ron’s words.
“You really are thick, aren’t you? When something is wrong with a girl, she doesn’t say anything because she doesn’t want to be perceived as weak. Just like guys do, only with guys, it’s a pride thing. With girls, it’s a matter of privacy and not being narcissistic. What do I need to do to get you to notice?” They boys rolled their eyes, still not believing her.
“Just drop it, Ginny. Don’t you have more important things to do than obsess over Hermione’s eating habits? She probably goes to the kitchens and grabs food after hours.”
Ginny groaned and collapsed on the couch next to them, trying to figure out what could possibly be going on with her best friend. “I will figure out what is going on with her.” It was a promise not only to them but also to herself. The boys mumbled in acknowledgement, ignoring her once more.
