Chapter 3

Hermione apparated home the next morning with a VERY fuzzy head, and even fuzzier recollections of the previous night. She had woken up to the (very nice) backside of a blond wizard, who had made her a cup of coffee as she racked her firewhiskey-soaked brain for his name. Failing utterly to remember it, so was pleased that he seemed too hungover to notice. He even asked if he could owl or floo her sometime. She’d said yes, of course; after all, her beer goggles hadn’t lied about his nice smile and absolutely gorgeous bum. Still, she couldn’t shake the feeling that she was forgetting something more than his name- it was like something was pulling at the corners of her consciousness. Pulling too hard hurt her head, though, so she put the thought aside as she said goodbye and apparated back to her flat.

The *pop* of Hermione apparating brought Ginny running into the sitting room, still in her pyjamas, a wide grin on her face.

‘Ow, Ginny, you’re hurting my head already,’ griped Hermione, ‘slow it down, will you?’

‘Oooooo,’ Ginny intoned suggestively, ‘you won’t get out of it that easily! How was your night with Mark?’

‘Mark!’ Hermione cried in relief, ‘His name is Mark!’ Ginny fell to the sofa in a fit of laughter.

‘You went home with him and you didn’t even know his name?’ Ginny teased.

‘I think I knew it at some point,’ responded Hermione, blushing. ‘But I feel like he’s familiar for some reason. How do you know him?’

‘He’s training to be a mediwizard, so he’s in my healing charms class at MERLIN. I can’t imagine that you’ve ever seen him before. He’s really fit, H, I am practically proud of you!’

Hermione chuckled, but it hurt her head. Feeling like a few more hours of sleep would do her a world of good, she headed to her bedroom with promises to tell Ginny all the salacious details over lunch. A late lunch.

Ah, so a very short chapter here. I had written a longer morning scene, but it seemed like devoting too much energy to Mark, who, after all, is no Draco Malfoy... Anyway, if you want to read it, let me know in the reviews, and I will post it as an addendum to this story. As always, please read and review, and I will try to have a longer chapter up soon!
