Chapter Two
(Persuasion)
The lemon squares were too sweet.
The tea lacked flavor.
The look Dumbledore kept given her made her feel…exposed.
Why did she respond to his owl post?
“As I was saying Ms. Evans, we believe you have what we need for this new class I’m adding to the curriculum.” He finished his long winded speech to give her a warm smile.
She took a small sip of her cold tea. Strangely, it tasted better cold. She couldn’t notice the bland flavor.
“Why did you choose me, professor?” She asked carefully, eying the man she used to look up to during her Hogwarts days.
Well looked up to make sure he wasn’t behind her.
He always had his eyes on here…like now.
“I’ve been reading up on your latest escapades around wizard Europe, my dear. Besides being an extraordinary Potion Mistress, you also performed a lot on your free time.”
Reaching for a lemon square, she shoved it in her mouth to muffle some of her words. “Mues…oly ore ree ime, pro’esso.”
“Yes, but I also remember a young girl wishing to become a Hogwarts professor when she was in her second year.”
Dear Merlin, he watched her too much.
“Fine, I guess I might as well do it. My research could wait.” She sighed in defeat knowing there was no way around this.
Dumbledore smiled and reached out to pat her hand, a gesture that gave her the chills.
“I am forever grateful.” He said.
She rolled her eyes, but smiled anyways.
Now if only he would stop staring at her legs, they could move on to important things…such as a certain potion master who won't be happy about her being here.
