Diagon Alley

Hermione, Ron and Harry walked to the bookstore to buy their books for third year. They had a bunch of stuff they had to buy for DADA, Charms, Potions, CoMC, Potions, Transfigurations, Divinations and a few other classes.

Browsing the shelves, they were happy they were assigned Tonks to follow them around. At least, of all the adults she truly was cool. Not to mention capable of handling them all. Once they had all their books and a few extra for Hermione as 'light reading' tonks shrunk them and they walked on to get their next purchases. Getting new robes was easy for Harry and Hermione, but Ron would have to let his mum get his. At midday, they passed the Quidditch shop and the boys suddenly halted. A new broom.

"It's so beautiful mate!" Ron sighed.

"No." Harry shook his head, his eyes never leaving the broom. "My NIMBUS is beautiful, this baby is EXTRAORDINARY."

"The new Firebolt." Hermione read. "Really pretty, but you wouldn't see me getting on one."

"Of course not, flying isn't your thing." Ron muttered.

"Well not everyone can do everything you know!" Hermione fumed.

"Common guys, let's get some ice cream, my treat." Harry said bouncing away. His two best friends followed him and Tonks as they retraced their steps and stopped at the ice cream shop. After puzzling over which kind to taste, the four ordered and grabbed seats outside. Lazing about in the sun, the group talked, caught up and had fun. Suddenly Tonks jumped up.

"We gotta go, we're gonna be late." She said tugging them to their feet.

"Huh?" Harry demanded.

"We're supposed to meet in front of Gringotts with everyone else in two minutes." Tonks explained, cleaning up their spots, and helping to grab bags. Then the group ran forward, Tonks in the lead, since she knew exactly where to go, and Harry bringing up the rear. Tonks took a little shortcut in a side street.

In the middle of the street, Harry tripped suddenly, without anyone noticing as they ran on ahead. Harry made sure nothing was broken or hurt on himself, then jumped up and was about to grab his bags and follow his friends, when a familiar face, called to him.

"I'm sorry for tripping you Potter, but please, talk to me a mintue." The other boy begged.

"Why would i want to talk to YOU, Malfoy?" Harry demanded, spitting out the name like the worst kind of disgusting.

"I want to stop the fighting between us. I don't want to be enemies, please?" Draco explained.

"What are you up to now?" Harry demanded untrustingly.

"Come on, i just think it's time we stop acting like babies, and grew up a little." Draco pushed.

"Come on Malfoy, what POSSIBLE reason do you have that could make you even THINK we could become anything other than we are!" Harry laughed at the slytherin.

"Well, i am willing to be the bigger man!" Draco fumed. "If you grow up before we get to school, come see me on the train. I'll be in a middle compartment." With that, he turned on his heel and walked off into a nearby shop.

Harry stared after him in shock, before picking up his bags.

Tonks slowed as she got to the group in front of Gringotts, happy they weren't too late. "Alright gang, here we are." She pushed each child forward, "Ron, Hermione and Har.... Where's Harry?" Tonks demanded of his two best friends.

Everyone looked around with no sight of the boy. "Oh no!!!" Hermione cried. Pushing the students into a group along with Mrs. Weasley, they were all told not to move a muscle.

The Aurors dispersed into groups of two and started searching all the streets. Tonks lead an Auror named Kingsley throught the path she had taken with her group. As she started to pass her short-cut, she remembered running through the side street and veered off suddenly, and crashed into the boy.

"Harry!!" Tonks exclaimed. "What happened, why weren't you with our group."

"I tripped." Harry mumbled looking down, already having decided not to tell anyone except his best friends about his meeting with Draco Malfoy.

"Ok, but you should have called out." Kingsley told the boy gravely. "Alls well that ends well, but in the future, please remember you need to stay with your group and if you fall behind for some reason call out to let someone know. They can help you."

"I will. I just had the wind knocked out of me, and then i couldn't see anyone." Harry told some half-truths.

"Ok, well let's go see everyone." Tonks shot several green sparks as far into the air as she could so everyone would see them. Then they made their way back to the Weasleys.

Everyone exclaimed over him, and made their way to the pub, to use the fireplace to floo back to the burrow. After the excitement of almost losing Harry, none of the adults wanted him to stay away from the safety of the burrow for any extra time. After saying their good-byes to the Grangers, Hermione already having permission followed everyone else returned to the Burrow.

Once everyone and all their purchases were in the burrow's kitchen, the Auror's said their good-byes. Some of them flooed back to the ministry or wherever they had to go, others walked down the drive to apparate to their destinations. As everyone returned to where they were going, and the Weasley's brought their belongings to their rooms and started to finish packing as ordered by Molly Weasley.

Ron and Hermione and Harry were in Ron's room searching for all the last-minute things they needed to pack. even though school was a week away, this is what Mrs. Weasley wanted. As they worked, Harry told them about Draco Malfoy.

"He tripped you?" Ron exclaimed outraged.

"Yes, and he said he wants to be friends!" Harry scoffed.

"You don't believe him, right mate?" Ron asked a little doubtful.

"Of course not." Harry answered.

"Well, i guess it's always a Possibility he's telling the truth..." Hermione said. "But since, it's Malfoy, he can't be sincere. Besides, he's NEVER accept us as your friends even if he WAS serious."

"He can't be serious. He's planning something." Harry laughed. Then he turned serious. "Well, it's not going to work anyway."

"Okay, since that is agreed, let's finish up here so we can go outside!!" Ron threw a few last minute things into his trunk. Then they ran down the stairs, crashing into the twins at the same time. As the five scrambled into the kitchen to tell Mrs. Weasley they were going to practice Quidditch, ginny saw Harry, yelped and bolted into her bedroom. The boys looked at each other and shrugged, then kept going to the broom shed and their quidditch field. They only used the Quaffle in these games because they were less likely to lose anything that way.
