chapter 3
Jaden had no idea how long he had been asleep but he felt totally relaxed when he finally awoke. Slowly he got out of bed, grabbed some sweats and a shirt and made his way to the bathroom. From below he could hear the TV and the sound of other voices. 'They must have company over.'
After a quick shower, Jaden made his way downstairs. Jake must have heard him coming because he called out for Jaden before he even made it to the bottom step.
"Green eyes! You're finally awake! About time, you slept through the rest of the day and straight into mid day Saturday. Come here I want you to meet the guys…and Leah."
Who ever Leah was must have smacked Jacob because he could hear the smack all the way from the stairs.
"Jesus woman lighten up it was a joke!"
Jaden let out a soft laugh as he entered the living room and saw Jake surrounded by seven other, equally huge, people. "Bloody hell; is everyone here on steroids or something?" A ripple of laughter spread through the room.
"Green eyes these are my friends Sam, Quill, Embry, Seth, Paul, Jared, and Leah. Guys this is Jaden Wolfe he is going to be staying here for a while."
Leah stepped up close to Jaden and took his chin in her hand. Slowly she turned his head side to side inspecting his face closely. When she was finished looking at his face she stared directly into his eyes.
After a minute or so the cold look on her face melted into a devious smirk. "Such a pretty boy, I like him. Welcome to the pack Jade."
Jaden blinked at the nick name. Leah gave him a soft smile. "We're big on nick names around here." The boy smiled and turned back to Jacob. "Pack?"
Jacob gave Leah a tense look. "Yeah there is an old legend that Quileute's are descended from wolves, so we call our group a 'pack'" Jaden gave a nod of understanding.
"My friends and I were called 'The Golden Trio' at my old school."
Seth giggled at the name. "So that makes you the golden boy right?"
"Something like that."
Sam gave Jaden a firm handshake. "Any friend of Jacob's is welcome among us."
'Geez they take their little group really seriously.'
Paul moved over to Jaden next, he circled around Jaden staring at him intently. He pushed the boy's hair over to the side to get a better look at the tattoo. "So how far down do these spots go huh?"
He smaller boy pulled up the bottom of his shirt a little to show the spots on his lower back and hips. "That's so awesome dude." When Paul reached out to trace the spots Jacob shot out of the chair he had been sitting on.
"Enough. Leave my green eyes alone dickhead."
Paul shot Jacob a glare. "Make me."
'HIS green eyes…What the hell does he mean by that.' Before Jaden could get caught in the middle of the larger boys' fight, Quill and Embry pulled him down on the couch between the two of them.
"This should be good. Jake and Paul go at it all the time, don't worry neither of them will get hurt too bad" Said Embry.
"So you're the one everyone is gossiping about all over our little reservation. I think you're going to make things around here very interesting" Quill said leaning in close to Jaden.
"My life has never been boring, that's for sure."
Embry grew bored watching the other two boys bickering and leaned close to join the conversation. "So how much of La Push have you seen so far?"
"Honestly, I slept the whole way from the airport so I have only seen the front yard." Embry, Quill and even Leah laughed at the confession. Leah pulled Jaden to his feet.
"Come on Jade, this might not be a big city but we have a great beach." Jake and Paul had calmed down at some point because they both jumped at the chance to show Jaden around. "
Yeah! Come on green eyes you have to see the beach at least."
A few minutes later Jade, along with the group of friends from Jake's house, minus Sam and Jared, were making their way toward the beach. Jacob grumpy mumbles was the only noise coming from the group. "Sam could have come too, he's such a buzz kill. He never wants to have any fun. All he ever does is mope around."
Leah rolled her eyes, she was sick of his complaining. "Shut up you idiot. We get it, you wanted him to come. He said no, now get over it. He does have a fiancé to go home to, he can't spend every waking moment with you."
The venomous way Leah spit out the word 'fiancé' let Jaden know it was a subject not to bring up around her. Jacob seemed to shrink into himself at her words. When Jaden grabbed Jacob's hand he instantly puffed back up into the big goofy bear he was before.
'What is wrong with me? Why am I acting this way towards Jacob?'
Jacob didn't seem to mind; he simple squeezed the small hand and continued on his way. The contact didn't go unnoticed by Quill though. "Well aren't you two just the cutest couple."
'Merlin just put me out of my misery.'
"Shut up asshole."
"Here we are, what do you think Jade?"
He could smell the salt in the air. He could feel the water calling out to him, practically begging him to come play. A little further down he could see some cliffs that looked out towards the open ocean. Something was calling him from those cliffs.
Jacob had been ambushed by Quill, Embry and Seth the three boys trying to throw him into the water. Leah was looking on with a satisfied look on her face as she watched Jake try to fight off the other boys.
Silently Jaden made his way to the cliffs. At the top he felt his core reach out towards the Earth.
'There is such a strong spirit here for land with no magical properties.' The closer he got to the edge the more powerful the presence.
'Almost there.'
Jaden had finally reached the very edge to the cliff. 'There it is.'
He reached out to the invisible force and began to fall. He was snapped out of his trance when big hands grabbed his face and shook him hard.
"Are you fucking crazy? You almost jumped off a damn cliff! Damn it are you even listening to me? JADEN!"
Jacob was shacking Jaden so hard he made his neck pop. "What the hell were you thinking? Have you lost you mind? I could just…"
Jacob stopped midsentence and gave an aggravated grunt and then smashed his lips down onto Jaden's trembling ones. Jacob pulled back and shook Jaden one more time. "Explain!"
"I wasn't going to jump. I was only looking at something and fell. I swear I wasn't trying to jump."
Jacob pulled Jaden close again until their foreheads touched, Jacob's whole body was trembling and his pupils were blown. "Damn it Jaden don't scare me like that."
'He was really scared for me. And...and he kissed me! He kissed me!'
"I'm sorry Jake."
"It's alright but no more cliffs for you. I see now that Dumbledore was right I can't let you out of my sight for even a minute."
Leah's loud "You got that right brat," made Jaden realized everyone had seem them kiss.
"Umm Jake, about that kiss…" Jake only chuckled and began to drag him back down to the beach by the hand.
"Don't worry green eyes there are more where that came from."
After a quick shower, Jaden made his way downstairs. Jake must have heard him coming because he called out for Jaden before he even made it to the bottom step.
