Chapter Three
‘Tsk tsk tsk’ Malfoy snickered at her waving a well manicured finger mockingly. Hermione rolled her eyes. Only the irrefutably thick headed Draco Malfoy could remain this intolerably smug while she, Hermione Granger, the brightest witch of their age brandished her wand not three inches from his perfectly proportioned nose and those startlingly bright eyes- wait, what? I am NOT having those kind of thoughts about Malfoy she screamed in her head as her wand lowered distinctly further.
‘Having second thoughts about that Granger?’ He smirked as she resolved to tuck her wand away in to her robes and resumed her seat on the opposite side of the compartment. And out of the way of your slimy hands Malfoy she grimaced inwardly.
‘Oh don’t worry Granger; I don’t plan a repeat of our little dalliance. Once was more than enough to gather a clear indication of your talents. Or should I say lack there of…’
Hermione would have normally felt the rage in her stomach build again had she not detected something not quite right in Malfoy’s voice as he aimed to disparage her ‘talents’ as he would so put it. What kind of something it was however she could not quite pin point, but her curiosity had always outweighed her more spontaneous emotions. Malfoy was not telling the truth, that much she knew. But whether it regarded her aptitude in the romantic department, or his willingness to replicate the moment she did not know. Nor was she very sure, did he.
‘Are you quite certain about that Malfoy?’ Hermione quirked an eyebrow as she leaned back crossing her arms lightly across her chest where Malfoy’s gaze had briefly darted. ‘I think you rather enjoyed kissing me.’
The Head Boy’s composure and smugness faltered slightly and very briefly as her eyes bore down on him questioningly. His fingers gripped the soft leather of the seat and he leaned forward, the front of his cloak swishing out as he once more leaned into her personal space. His eyes never left hers as he stared right back.
‘Believe you me Princess. If I had enjoyed that brief moment of failed sanity, you would be rolling your eyes for very different reasons right now.’
Hermione leaned in unwaveringly.
‘Prove it.’
