In the vault.
The trip to the vault took no time at all in fact they did not even need to use one of the carriages to get there, something Hermione was extremly grateful for. Once they got there the Goblin didn't ask for the key instead he just stood aside and indicated the Hermione should unlock the door herself.
At her puzzled look he told her that the door could only be opened by the owner of the key, taking a deep breath she slid the key into the lock and turned it when she wasn't cursed or jinxed Hermione pulled the door open.
Expecting nothing to be in there at all she closed her eyes as the door swang open then she heard.
"Sweet Merlin's holy ball bags" Ron breathed as he saw what was in the vault. Hermione's eye snapped open to see what awaited her.
Stepping into the vault after a few moments to compose herself Hermione noted that the room had be decorated in dark green there was even carpet on the normally stone floor it was beautiful if a little odd.
As she looked around once agian this time she noticed a small mahogany table it was in a darker corner of the room but she could just make out a candle stand on it, as she began to turn away the candle lit and she spotted a large sheet of parchment resting on it walking toward the table slowly she went to read what it said.
The letter read.
Miss Granger,
I trust you have your friends Mr. Weasley and Mr Potter with you at this moment.
You always were a sensible witch something I confess I admire about you. As for my partner in this little mystery I will leave it to you to work out who we are and there will be signs that I promise you.
I alas can not come to meet you at this vault so I am unable to reveal myself just yet I would however, like to take you through the items that you will find here.
1, You will find in Galleons, Sickles and Knuts to the sum of 5 million that you are to spend as you wish.
2, There is a key taped under the desk I will explain this later.
3, Finally to prove we have been keeping our eye on you from afar I would like you to use the hamper left by the door as you see fit but please eat from it. It will refill everyday with food (which you may share with your friends at the Burrow, you are looking unwell my dear and we are worried for you.
Now to the forementioned key, this is the first key to your new home (that is right Miss Granger YOUR NEW HOME) the house itself is a small cottage that has belonged to my family and is but a short distance from the Weasley abode please feel free to move in when you are ready.
You will find the property in good working order you will also find a free house elf (who has expressed desire to stay within the house and work for whoever is in residence there her name is Charlotte and she is paid 3 sickles a week).
For now Miss Granger I bid you goodnight.
Hermione felt under the table and found a small silver key just as the note said there would be.
Ron and Harry in the meantime were reading the letter both looking puzzled and worried and with a little stunned. "I think we should take this back to the burrow Harry said at last it might help if more people knew about this maybe Tonks might be able to work something out"
Hermione nodded her agreement then placed her new key and the letter in her pocket then they locked the vault and headed home.
Once back at the Burrow Hermione gave the letter to Mr. Weasley who read and re-read it then he handed it to Mrs. Weasley who shook her head while saying "You have no idea who this is from at all?"
"None at all"
"Well I am going to floo Tonks" Said Mr. Weasley maybe she can help.
A few moments later he came back and said "Tonks is on her way" just as a large barn owl flew through the window and dropped another letter in Hermione's lapm
