A Question of Fertility
“Oh Severus” Hermione spoke in a sing-song voice.
“Dear Gods, not now” he cursed softly as his wife approached.
“I'm ovulating” she whispered in his ear.
“Gee, I never would have guessed” he said sarcastically “given the fact that I've been the one to give you those damn injections for six months now. Ruddy Muggle medicine.”
Hermione's ire flourished at his harsh response. “It's not my fault there's no magical fix for female infertility. How do you think this makes me feel? Taking artificial hormones to encourage what should happen naturally?”
“I can't take this anymore, Hermione. I'm sorry.”

“Can't take what?” she practically shrieked, thoroughly befuddled at his reaction.
“This...the injections, the scheduled sex, your bloody mood swings. Why are we trying to force creating a child together? What's happened to us? It's like we've lost ourselves. I don't know who we are anymore.” He whispered that last sentiment, afraid his internal struggle would destroy her.
“You want to quit trying?” she spoke softly as the tears flowed.
“I want to get us back. Let's take a break from the injections and see what can happen naturally, without medical intervention.”
“If you want that Severus...I agree.”

A/N: Having already posted this to GS100, I some how get the feeling that I've pushed the envelope, or crossed some sort of imaginary line. I have no intention of offending anyone who's had this particular issue, it's just the way the prompt spoke to me.
