Chapter 3- Dinner With the Potter

Chapter 3- Dinner with the Potters

Hermione smiled as she walked up the brick walk way leading to the two story house. She hadn’t seen Harry and Ginny since their wedding five years ago. All three led very busy careers. She stepped onto the porch and rang the bell. A second later, the door opened to reveal a beaming Ginny Weasley Potter.

“Hermione!”

“Ginny!”

The two women let out squeals of joy as they embraced. For five minutes the two held each other, almost afraid to let go. Finally they relinquished one another and Ginny ushered Hermione inside.

“Oh Hermione, it’s been so long,” Ginny gushed.

“I know. I should have visited more. Oh congratulations on the baby,” Hermione smiled.

“Hello stranger,” Harry chuckled as he entered the living room.

Harry laughed as Hermione let out a squeal, took a running start and leapt into his open arms. Ginny smiled as Harry spun Hermione around a moment before setting her back on her feet.

“I’ve missed you Mione. You look great," Harry said.

“So do you. Tell me how things are at the Ministry. I hear things have improved ever since Aiden Lewis became Minister,” Hermione replied as they sat down.

“Oh yes. Aiden is a great Minister. She has not only helped rebuild the Wizarding community, she has also had some great ideas for the future,” Harry nodded.

The three friends sat down in the living room while Dobby and a few other house elves prepared dinner. Harry told her about his work at the Ministry. Ginny in turn spoke fondly of her job at St. Mingo’s. Dobby popped in to announce dinner was ready. Hermione followed Harry and Ginny into the dining room. They really had a magnificent home.

“So, how are things at Hogwarts?” Ginny asked.

“Things are just fine. Severus said to send his regards,” Hermione answered.

“How is the old git? I saw him a few days before you came back,” Harry smiled.

“He’s doing fine. I didn’t know you two were friends,” Hermione replied.

“Oh yes. After her graduated the Auror academy, Harry and Severus settled their differences. Those two get together for drinks once and a while,” Ginny said.

“I’m glad you’re friends because he invited me to London tomorrow,” Hermione stated nervously.

“What did you say?” Harry questioned.

“I said yes. There’s something else. I’ve fallen in love with Severus. He and I are just friends at the moment. He wants to see where things go,’ Hermione explained.

“Well this is a surprise. I gather this is a little tidbit you want to keep quiet?” Ginny inquired.

“Yes. I mean, who’s to say what will happen. After all, we may only end up as friends,” Hermione nodded.

“Don’t worry, we won’t say anything. Just don’t let Ron know. He still can’t accept that Severus and I are friends, or that you chose healing instead of being an Auror,” Harry sighed.

“Great,” Hermione mumbled.

As dinner continued, Ginny filled Hermione in on the Weasley family. Percy and Penelope Clearwater had run off to Hawaii last year and eloped. Bill married Fleur and they now had a daughter. Charlie was still in Romania and engaged. Fred and George’s joke shop was as successful as ever and both were still single, along with Ron.

Hermione also learned that after the war, Lucius and Draco did a complete 180. Draco ran a successful night club in London called ‘Inferno’ which catered to both muggles and wizards. Lucius was still a school governor but had changed for the better, becoming a better governor, father and husband.

“Wow, Draco running a nightclub? I don’t believe it,” Hermione gaped.

“Believe it girl. The club caters to both muggles and witches and wizards. Perhaps you could come with us. I mean, school doesn’t start until September,” Ginny pointed out.

“True. When were you going?” Hermione asked.

“My birthday. I was going to invite Severus to come too, even if Ron doesn’t like it,” Harry answered.

“I’ll be there,” Hermione smiled.

Three hours later, Hermione entered her chambers. She sighed as she kicked off her heels and draped her cloak over the back of the arm chair in her bedroom. She had thoroughly enjoyed her evening with Harry and Ginny.

‘Though I had fun, I’m looking forward to tomorrow with Severus,’ She thought as she changed for bed.

After brushing her teeth and braiding her hair, she climbed into bed. She reached over and removed the book she was currently reading, To Tame A Highland Warrior by Karen Marie Moning. After half an hour, she turned out the lights and went to sleep.
