Behind Blue Eyes (Limp Bizkit)
Chapter Two
The fall of Voldemort had really changed the way life was for Hermione. Not only was she one of the most popular girls in school, but she had developed a small fan club. Of course, this had not been Hermione's intentions and no where near her plans. Most of the time, she would scout for hidden spots within the castle just so she could study.
It was in one of these spots that Harry found her. He gave a soft smile as he sat on the floor next to her. "What are you reading?" he asked.
"Advanced Potion Making," she replied, not bothering to look up. "Slughorn wants that essay in two days."
Harry had to stop himself from laughing. No matter how their lives had changed, Hermione was always the same little bookworm he had met seven years before. "Why don't you take a break?" he suggested. "Susan Bones has been looking for you everywhere."
This time she did look up. Confusion was written across her face as she questioned, "Susan? Why is she looking for me?"
Harry shrugged. "Not a clue. Maybe she wants help with her homework or something," he guessed. "I told her to wait for you in the library."
Hermione nodded as she put her book away. Standing up, she slung her bookbag onto her back and followed Harry out of the little alcove. It did not take the pair long to get to the library. "Have you seen Ron lately?" she asked as they entered.
Harry shook his head. "Though, I would assume he's with one of his many new girlfriends," he said and then cringed when Hermione gave him a dirty look.
Hermione and Ron's relationship had been sketchy at best. At first, it seemed as though they would be the perfect couple. Then, as with all war heroes, the fame came. The press surrounded the Golden Trio and the three kids became celebrities. It was the kind of thing Ron had always dreamed of and his fame had stolen the best of him.
"Hermione!" Susan called, approaching the two. "Thank you for finding her, Harry."
The Boy Wonder smiled. "Not a problem. Do me a favour and keep her for as long as you can. Otherwise, she'll go right back into her books."
The Hufflepuff laughed as she watched Harry return to his girlfriend, Ginny. For a moment, Hermione and Susan just looked at one another. Finally, Hermione broke the ice, "What was it you needed?"
Susan breathed, "I still cannot believe it. It just... I've got to hear it."
"Hear what?" the Gryffindor asked, confused.
Susan took the girl's hand and led her out of the library and down the hall. "Oh, have I got a surprise for you," she said. "And if you are as good as he says you are..."
"Who says? Good at what?" Hermione questioned. "Susan, what's going on?"
But, the girl did not answer, she just continued to lead Hermione through various halls, into the dungeons, and through a maze of more halls. They finally stopped at a quite uninteresting door. Susan knocked three times in a rhythmic fashion, then waited.
"Susan, what's going on?" Hermione repeated. "Where have you taken me?"
The door opened, and Susan lead Hermione into the ample sized room. Hermione glanced around and, almost immediately, she gasped in awe. The room wasn't large by any means, but there was a drum set, keyboard, and several guitars. In a corner sat a table with some fold out chairs surrounding it. Two of the chairs were occupied by two very different boys, both of which looked up when the girls entered.
"Granger!" Anthony Goldstein said in shock. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm leaving," she answered as she turned to do just that.
"Wait, Hermione," Susan said, stopping her. "Please, just wait and hear us out."
"Hear you out?" Hermione demanded. "You haven't said anything. All you've done was lead me through various halls and into a room with Anthony and Malfoy. You haven't answered any of my questions..."
"I was going to," the Hufflepuff interrupted. "There just wasn't time to answer them and make it to practice. The guys hate starting late."
Hermione raised an eyebrow. "Practice?"
Malfoy stood up and sauntered across the room. His arms folded across his chest, he smirked as he answered, "Welcome to Hogwarts United, Granger."

Draco watched as the expressions on Granger's face went from rage to amusement to confusion. "Hogwarts United?" she asked.
The blond-haired boy nodded. "Yes. It's the name of our band," he replied, rolling his eyes as she started laughing.
"This must be some sort of joke!" Granger chortled. "Draco Malfoy in a band?!"
"Would you like to hear us?" Susan asked, looking at Granger hopefully.
To Draco's surprise, Granger nodded. "I have to hear this!"
Anthony quickly went to the drums while Susan turned on the keyboard. Draco did not move as his band mates tuned their instruments. When he knew they were ready, he walked over to his guitar and picked it up. "What would you like us to play, Granger?" he asked, a glint in his eyes.
The Gryffindor shrugged. "It doesn't matter to me. I'm not picky," she said, disbelief in her eyes.
Draco's eyes narrowed. "Susan, let's do the song you were working on the other day," he suggested as he tuned his guitar.
"Really?!" the girl squealed. "Oh, Hermione, you'll like this song! I wrote it myself."
Anthony gave the count off and the three began playing. The music was loud in the small room, but the tune was easily understood. Then, Draco stepped up to the microphone and began singing:
Circling your, circling your, circling your head,
Contemplating everything you ever said
Now I see the truth, I got doubt
A different motive in your eyes and now I’m out
See you later
I see your fantasy, You want to make it a reality paved in gold
See inside, Inside of our heads (yeah)
Well now that’s over
I see your motives inside, decisions to hide
Back off I’ll take you on
Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong
Headstrong we’re Headstrong
Back off I’ll take you on
Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong and this is not where you belong
I can’t give everything away (this is not where you belong)
I won’t give everything away
As the song died down, Draco saw the look of astoundment and awe on Granger's face. "It's no where near finished," Susan apologized as she walked up to Granger. "What did you think?"
The Gryffindor placed a hand on her forehead. "I think I need to sit down," she said.
Draco rolled his eyes as Anthony hurried to grab a chair for Granger to sit in. "Would you like a glass of pumpkin juice, too, Granger?" the Slytherin asked, a bit of annoyance evident in his voice.
That snapped the girl back into the present. She glared at him. "No. I'm fine. But, thank you for asking, Malfoy," she growled.
"What did you think?" he repeated Susan's question.
Granger's face relaxed. "I was very impressed. It's not often one hears good bands anymore. But, why let me hear it?" she asked, still confused about her purpose of being there.
Susan smiled. "We'd like you to be our lead singer. Draco overheard you singing earlier and he said you were awesome."
Granger shot him a glance. "You eavesdropped on my singing?" she inquired.
"Not intentionally," he answered. "I was going to sit in my normal study spot in the library and you were there."
"And you thought I was a good singer?" she sounded pleased with herself. "The Mudblood can sing well, can she?"
Draco stifled a groan. "Yes, Granger, you sing quite well. Well enough that you would be an asset to the band."
She opened her mouth to speak, but he stopped her. "Before you decline, think about it. You and I do not like each other, yes. But, you are really good friends with Bones and Goldstein. Not to mention, think of the opportunities being in a band can bring."
Granger stood up and brushed herself off. She walked up to Draco and looked him dead in the eye. "No."
